  1. They probably get a bulk discount as they're buying for the school.
  2. I don't think that figure's valid at all, I've met more teenage crooks and offenders outside of cadets than I have within....cadets who commit offences during their time tend to be chucked out as well and lots who have a criminal record aren't allowed in as we are effectively handed £300 worth of MTP kit when we join, as well as webbing and bergens being issued... I'm sensing a lot of Air Cadet biased snobbery in this thread, and it's not fair to the largely unrepresented ACF.... Back on topic, I used to do a lot of Warhammer 40K model making (I collected Space Marines and painted them in Dark Angels colours) and I dabble in video gaming as well. I mainly play Team Fortress 2, Insurgency and Red Orchestra
  3. It's because the springer L85's mags have a feed lip thing like this: And an M4 AEG's mag has a lip like this: They're totally different to the real magazines, as they are indeed airsoft. And they're different to each other as they come from different manufacturers and are of a different quality.
  4. Welcome if you do get an SRC G36 get one of the Gen3 ones if you can. They're the best out of the box of all SRC guns
  5. May be setting up an airsoft team at college to enter in a county-wide league :D

That's a great idea! Good luck with it ;)

  6. There's only 1 model of transparent CM16 as far as I know, there are some tan ones too. The VCRA compliant (brightly coloured) version's colour will depend on the retailer you buy from, proairsoftsupplies spray them snot green and fire support spray them bright red. Idk about other retailers though, if you want to pay an extra fee on top of the cost of spraying it I'm sure they'll spray it in a colour of your choosing. I'd go for the transparent one anyway, once you've got a defence or are at least a regular skirmisher you can spray it in any colour you want, and you won't be as obvious as a player with a bright orange gun.
  7. Very jealous, as soon as I had a go with my mate's PP-19 I've wanted one
  8. L85A1 or A2? The G&G, ICS and Ares ones are models of the A2, the Army Armament or Star one is an L85A1.
  9. Be aware of dodgy chronos, I know for a fact my M4 has an average muzzle velocity of 310-320 FPS and one at my local tried to tell me it was firing at 270 literally 5min after using a mate's machine. They can be pretty inconsistent.
  10. She'd be even lovelier if the furniture was slightly darker, it's a bit red for my tastes
  11. I'm not sure about that- in my experience I've always found airsoft more painful than paintball at a normal skirmish level. I'm sure 'speedball' or whatever it is hurts more than normal paintball, but there's an equal amount of pain no matter what type of skirmish, be it a milsim or a normal turn up day. As well as this, BBs only have a few mm that hits you, meaning that over a joule of force is being transmitted to your skin in a very small area. In general paintballs seem to fly at a much lower velocity, and the low force from a paintball is felt in a much larger area. This means that the force from a paintball hitting your arm will be displaced over a larger area and the feeling will be less intense than a BB hitting you with much more force over a smaller surface area. A good analogy for this would be the cork board pressure/surface area link. If you took a pin and a bolt and applied the same amount of force onto the corkboard through them, the pin would go in and the bolt wouldn't. This is because the head of the pin has a smaller surface area than the face of the bolt, so more pressure is applied over a smaller area meaning less force is displaced.
  12. If you really want to start using your SR-25 to it's full potential, open it's gearbox up/pay a tech to and start getting upgrade parts for it. An M120/M130 would be a good start, and you'll see immediate range benefits by using heavier BBs such as 0.30s, as they retain more kinetic energy through their flight than a 0.25g does. Have a look at upgrade guides or ask around if you want to know how to get the best out of your SR-25, as without upgrades it's basically an inconveniently large assault rifle locked to semi
  13. If you go for an M1911, in the name of all that is sacred DO NOT buy the WE.......1911 style GBB pistols have poor enough efficiency due to the small size of the gas tank in the magazines (as they're so thin), and the WE has to push back a heavier metal slide as well, further ruining it's efficiency. The best bet for an M1911 would be a TM, as they're extremely gas efficient (lightweight plastic slide) and they have the magic all TMs have. And you can be proud you own a TM.
  14. Tasco scopes are quite good for their cost. I had one included with my M700 and it's not bad.
  15. Yeah. £250 is nowhere near enough for a decent rifle platform and upgrades for it.
  16. I'm sure Ominous Slayer would appreciate it, but I don't think he's been active on here for a veery long time
  17. The kit lives up to it's name, I haven't seen one in stock for a long time
  18. We've had the Vulcan flying over my village on the way to/from Farnborough in the past. Ridiculously loud, and the pilots seem to like flying it low
  19. Some people use 'intelligent' chargers with LCD displays- I use a charger with the old LED alarm system. Works for me.
  20. Best answer to that is "So I can run around in the woods shooting at my mates without worrying about going to prison on murder charges"
  21. ^^this. I have a gas KJW M700, it's taken a little while to get working properly and still needs some fine tuning and air sealing done, but I have a great knowledge of its insides and how it works because of it. Granted, I don't have to deal with a gearbox or anything too complicated on it, but it's still a daunting prospect to strip it.
  22. I keep my pistol in a Viper cordura & nylon holster on my left side, pistol grip facing forwards, for a crossdraw. Say what you want about Viper kit but their belts, holsters and open top 5.56 pouches are decent.
  23. Teamwork is always important in airsoft, and a large factor in having a good team is communication- I'm not saying there won't be the usual game where no one works together and everything goes pear shaped, but even in that sort of scenario you can still direct people to useful positions, co-ordinate plans, call out where enemy positions are etc. Now, when you're wearing a gum shield, it would be kind of hard even to do that- and over a radio you'd be misheard and misunderstood by the guy on the other end. As well as that, you wouldn't have the lower half of your face protected except your teeth. Idk about you guys but I'd rather not turn up to college/work after a skirmish looking like I'd been attacked by a swarm of angry hornets. Some people may like scars and not care about how they look after. IMO mesh masks > gum shields, mainly because they're more comfortable, easier to communicate (and thus improve your team's chance of winning) and they protect your entire lower face- not just your teeth.
  24. A pair of Hardcore Scoria safety boots for the workshop. They're surprisingly comfy and easy to run in, could be good as a pair of boots for CQB
