  1. Welcome to the UK and the forums man! First one looks like a clone of the TM AWS. Second is your standard Maruzen APS-2 L96 clone - very upgradable; I have one myself. I'd go for the second simply because the parts are so readily available and upgrade guides for it are very well detailed. As you say, you'll be upgrading it so it's the better option. Also I believe the TM AWS and clones use a slightly strange feeding mechanism that can break a little easily in the clones and are hard to find after market replacements for.
  2. I think we mostly all do. This is, after all, airsoft-forums.co.uk. Throw those suggested guns/brands from the guide into Google and you'll get your answer quickly. If you're unsure about a retailer then certainly all of the larger UK ones have their own thread in the forum with reviews: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/forum/10-places-to-buy/ The UK actually has the best selection of airsoft shops in all of Europe so you shouldn't struggle to find somewhere that offers a 2-tone service as well as the gun you want. Usual disclaimer we give to all new people though: Consider not buying a gun first - rather rent your gun when you go skirmishing to obtain UKARA or some other way to prove a defence before spending money on something bright orange/green/blue. It's all covered in the guide.
  3. Hey Jacob. Welcome to the forums. Don't get any of those - though the CYMA stuff is alright, those websites are awful and don't deserve your custom. Read this: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/3779-the-beginners-guide-to-airsoft/ For the future too, it's worth searching the forums before opening a new thread. There have been hundreds who have asked the same question as you and you'll find more complete answers in less time if you put in a little effort by searching first.
  4. Thought the Cloaker was free DLC.
  5. Best to consult the FAQ and Facebook group too - lots of people will have faced this same quandary before you.
  6. Stuff from HK is typically delivered within two weeks. One if you get EMS.
  7. Yeh, there's no way I'd run a plate carrier with my M249. I've just got a Tactical Tailor 2 piece MAV and some pouches and holster on it - nothing more. Also I have a WAS cargo pack for my tank, but all in all it's still quite a light setup.
  8. Flyye do a very nice LMG sling in a variety of colours - just got mine a few days ago and it seems great; sturdy clips and nice padded area. AliExpress have the best prices on that sort of thing if you don't mind waiting a couple of weeks for it. Bought an issued minimi sling from CKinnerly on here and that was good as well, but being MOD it's not made for being all that comfortable. Incredibly strong though. Edit: Should confirm I also have the full stock. Prefer it to the para one just like you.
  9. Anyone know where I can buy one of those ProWin Gen 2 GI 20rd style GBBR magazines? I've looked but can't for the life of me find one in stock.
  10. I know a chap that's an armourer with the metropolitan and keeps a bunch of seized weapons (airsoft and others) on display. Most are from customs seizures, but they have been known to keep some for training. I can't imagine any retailer would have any issue with selling guns to a museum. As for proof, well a reference or just using the museum's postal address would probably be enough.
  11. You're not going to open up a new thread for each brand are you, Joe? Try this thread for straightforward questions that have simple answers: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/22692-quick-questions-simple-answers/ No idea on that gas. Never used it. However, if you're looking for affordable, reliable gas then Smart Gas from Gunfire is good: http://gunfire.pl/product-eng-1152204167-Smart-Gas-TM-1000ml.html - cheap and cheerful stuff that's not got the amazing lubing power of Abbey or the power of Nuprol 3.0+ and Guarder Powerful, but it's affordable and does the job. Their shipping is quite agreeable if you order 6 or so cans at a time. It's out of stock right now but they replenish stock monthly from what I've seen.
  12. TM LWS L96 clone? Look here: http://www.x-fire.org/etop/bolt_sp_thicker.html - looks like it's the same spec. as the VSR too, but AFAIK the nozzle design on the VSR gives a slightly higher output so knock a little off their estimates there. Usual disclaimer though: Do not just upgrade the spring in an L96 or you'll break the sear quite quickly. If it's a downgrade then it's fine, but first consider PTFE/Teflon taping the cylinder head, checking the cylinder o-ring as those are the the primary points where people lose pressure (and therefore FPS). If you're looking for upgrading the FPS further then consider a new piston and sear/trigger unit at the very least. Sniper rifles are highly upgradable, but need to be upgraded to compete well at skirmishes. Unfortunately it's rarely the case that you can just swap the spring.
  13. As already said above: Most sites will probably tell you to get a one-piece paintball or fencing-style mask, but it's worth asking as the real purpose is just to protect your teeth as well as your eyes for insurance reasons. If they're ok with that then you'll be set.
  14. Why even bother opening these threads if you know you want a magnified optic despite us saying they're overrated and generally unnecessary. Certainly pointless at Ravens, and probably unnecessary at Gunman too. A 1.5x magnification red dot is nothing I've ever seen before. You'll need to get a magnifier which will make your sight picture even more murky. Even if this was all fine, 1.5x is almost the same as 1x magnification but will throw you off just enough to make it useless close up when compared to an actual unmagnified red dot. I had a 1.5x setting on my short dot and it was slightly annoying - if you're not going for an adjustable zoom short dot I'd see no point in getting a 1.5x magnification. At this cheap repro level, it doesn't really matter whether you go for the 'holographic' or red dot. It's an aesthetic thing and certainly not something people can advise you on beyond telling you which brands are crap. In my experience, red dots stand up to more punishment from blow back due to a generally simpler design, but that doesn't really matter as - again - at this level they're almost identical in the way they work. And again as a side note: Please stop trying to get us to validate your potential purchase if you're not taking anything on board. I'm all for telling people to spend money on what they think is cool (it's airsoft, that's what it's all about), but opening two threads on the same issue to be told the same things - before saying you're going with a magnified optic anyway - and waste these people's time? Not cool. My recommendation: UTG red dot. No magnification, bright as hell, affordable and made for real steel use so isn't going to break quickly. If you want magnification then you need to be prepared to spend more money for quality lenses or it's like staring through Vaseline.
  15. This thread. Come on man, you've already asked once: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/28258-woodland-sight/
  16. Is this 350fps with a .20g? If so, heavier ammo even at 1.2J does wonders (try .30g+).
  17. I'm usually not the one to say this until recently, but please use the search function in the future - both eHobby and Tiger111HK (the other site you asked about) have threads already in this subforum (one is even pinned). You risk wasting people's time and getting a lazy answer that you could have had immediately if you looked up the thread. Thankfully in this case people have been nice That said, you have dodged a bullet here through these replies - AGM GBBRs are utter dog sh*t. WE is alright, but make sure you budget in good quality BBs, decent gas and extra magazines. These can cost more than you think - GBBRs are rarely an option that work well on a tight budget. You more frequently get what you pay for.
  18. What kind of lenses did you get? I paid I think £52 for mine, but they were UV, scratch, glare resistant and also the ultra-thin ones. I'm curious as to how much the high street opticians charge.
  19. UKT having another sale on Mechanix gloves. 15% off with the code MECH15 until Sunday.
  20. Even with mesh it's not a good idea to go for something cheap. Pot metal will warp after being shot and sometimes render the whole thing useless after a gap opens up in it. Also, you may want to paste your links directly - without 'http://' or 'https://' IPB won't parse the URL. As such, your link redirects to this thread currently. Link for the rest of you: http://www.savephace.com/tactical
  21. Hm, sounds like the mag itself has warped then and is maybe been crushed a millimetre at that one spot - as soon as two BBs travel through they get jammed. Is the BB/feed channel metal or plastic? If metal you should be able to just push it out a bit with a screwdriver and the right amount of leverage (if it's not too far below the feed lips); if plastic then it shouldn't be warping in the first place. It may not even be entirely obvious from the exterior as it only needs to be a very small difference. Maybe shine a light down and see if you can see if it's visibly narrower at that one spot?
  22. Are you pushing down the one behind it? If you just push down the one ontop then it's not going to do anything. It's the way they're offset that's jamming them - you need to disrupt that in some way.
  23. Get that one BB at the top out of the mag. Get something long and pointy and push down the second of those two jammed BBs - I've had this before with the GHK mags (very, very rarely). Dunno what causes it - I guess it's just tolerances.
