  1. Makes sense, thanks. Do I need to answer that?
  2. I understand the liability issues, I more wanted to know how any site could be covered as you say and the official line from insurers. They're essentially fireworks being lobbed at people.
  3. Have you tried hitting 'multiquote' then going to 'reply to quoted posts' instead? Could be a workaround.
  4. Exactly - it's just a macro push fitting. There's also the Redline Grip Connect - which kind of has a picture that illustrates it better than I can describe. I'm not a big suppressor guy. If the trades are just decals you can always use a solvent to remove them - if they're laser etched that's a different deal. I bought a couple of the Big Dragon suppressors off Airsoft Peak because they were cheap on sale, foam filled and I very, very rarely use them. There are certainly ones out there with M4 trades that you can get. I think enough with the red. Trigger cool. Selector 'eh, cool'. Anything else and you're going for the 'straight outta UKARA' look, heh. Of course though it's your baby
  5. Nice. Are you able to clarify any of the 'insurance problems' other sites have been quoting when it comes to using them? I assume you've not run into this same issue.
  6. Ah, but the old 'will it green gas' problem of TMs will be there. Blow back in GBBRs is very dependant on the gas you use, and they just aren't going to have the power with duster - or maybe they will, who knows. I mean I know the M870 certainly can't take propane without a re-enforced nozzle and a bunch of other small things. Most of the pistols were fine with it but would wear quicker. It just seems the bigger Marui goes, the more they struggle with gas powered stuff. Internally (and recoil wise) the TM MP7 is basically just an oversized pistol. An M4 has a whole buffer to throw backwards and a bolt to cycle properly if you want significant recoil from it.
  7. Looking good. If you don't want the hassle, the Redline FlexConnect goes straight onto your macro line with a push fitting so no disassembly or anything - a little more durability for about £15. Certainly a good deal. I was looking at one until I switched over to an EU QD, and Beesting said they'd 'have them in stock again next week' (that was about 3 weeks ago).
  8. And banned on most sites now due to insurance problems
  9. In theory the GHK M4 should be the best GBBR M4 out there being the newest and coming from a company that really knows what they're doing. I think the next most modern is the KWA LM4 - the WE and WA stuff is super old. You can get good results from the WE and WA stuff, but you need to spend a lot of money. Apparently spending money on the WE stuff hasn't gone so well for the guys in that thread, but my experience is to the contrary despite the fact that I'm not WE's biggest fan given the brand as a whole. But yeh, the G5 is brilliant and GHKs AKs are great too. There were so many more options for upgrading a WA M4 over a GHK one right now that I think I'd still go for that platform if I were buying another one, but out of the box the G5 is very hard to beat. I should clarify I'm being sarcastic there. The list is saturated with WE stuff despite us saying here it's crap compared to many alternatives. Can confirm the GHK M4 blow back is very slow, much like the WA ones. I've got a steel bolt and that thing takes almost half a second to cycle (which is kind of ludicrous).
  10. They're a good and fun gimmick, but don't expect to do all that much damage with them
  11. I'd say really a defence (for airsofters) would need to be a site membership. I have a huge papertrail of receipts kept just in case I get questioned because I tended to play all over the place. The law is very murky on this, but I'd say to be better safe than sorry. Also, I think you have the wrong end of the stick slightly on the defence bit. It's not specifically why you'd paint it, but it's why you'd need to own an RIF other than to hold up a Post Office. So long as you can prove you're a regular airsoft player then that's fine. If you're just doing backyard plinking then that's not really fine. Again, the law is poorly written, and most parts that apply to us are around the point of sale and are the seller's responsibility to get right, not the buyer. As far as ownership goes (i.e. you've already bought it), most will tell you that you just need to be over 18. That's basically true, but if you get caught with it in your car or on your person then you need to have a legitimate excuse to have it (e.g. "I'm on my way to a game"). Again though, this has never happened to anyone who wasn't being stupid.
  12. Bit of a warning to anyone that bought the Baofeng radio from that one seller on AliExpress recently - they've been found to have 'suspicious activity'. If you've been asked to open a dispute with them then don't - I've been getting strange messages from them and recently AliExpress froze their account to investigate. You'll get a refund soon if there are any signs of fraud. Here's the e-mail: All legit by the way. My name and order number were in the e-mail but I've just pasted the important stuff.
  13. WE is old and WA has always been better for upgrades. I agree that GHK is easily the most hassle free option here, and WE is the worst of both worlds.
  14. Yep, it's pretty common. I don't hold UKARA right now having moved so much over the past year but used some of my old site attendance and receipts as a defence when buying something recently. Don't worry about it - as has been said, it's about the purchase. You do need to have a defence if questioned about possession I believe, but this never happens unless you're an idiot shooting in the park or something - and even then, a defence about possession is probably the least of your worries. What I mean by that is if the police for whatever reason question you on the way to a game you simply need to produce evidence that you're on the way to a skirmish (a receipt, basically). I've never known this to happen though. Also, respraying a 2-tone without a defence is breaking the law. It's considered manufacturing an RIF.
  15. Heh, second opinion time: http://forums.zeroin.co.uk/showthread.php?263850-ghk-or-we-gbbr i.e. please tell me this cool WE I'm looking at is worth it so I can feel better about my purchase.
  16. We need less hi-cap heroes that's for sure. The capacity on the GBBR mags certainly makes you think before pulling the trigger. You're approaching this in the right way, just be sure you have all the facts in place first. There's a wealth of knowledge on http://gasguns.info (go to 'GGI Forum') - every question about every platform have been asked there already and usually answered a lot better than most of us can here. It's a bit dead these days, but there's a lot of information on there that's still relevant. Maybe it'll help you choose.
  17. Again, all the brands worth a look are in that thread. Don't consider anything else because there are a lot of naff GBBR systems out there that aren't worth having. If you've not played yet then certainly keep a very open mind. I love gas stuff - I don't have a single electric gun, but it's been a lot of money and hard work to get them to a stage where they're reliable and I just can't recommend many brands to someone who's new that wants something to work competitively out of the box. You've got the cost of gas, the cost of magazines, different lubricants, excessive magazine maintenance (we're talking disassembling all of your magazines every game), NPAS to bring your gun within site limits, you can't use ultra-cheap optics as they break and then there's the biggie: Cold weather - even the best setups with the strongest green gas struggle with UK winter. The issue is the same as with many people who look to buy a sniper rifle when they start - you have nothing to fall back on. If you have a £130 G&G CM16 then you can blat all day with that and it'll keep chugging, but if you have an issue with your GBBR and you've already put upwards of £450 into the gun, magazines and everything else I've listed then it can totally grind the hobby to a halt for you.
  18. Unfortunately Neil, if you don't have ~£450 to spend (that's including a couple of magazines) you're going to have a terrible time. That thread outlined the brands you should bother with - G&G and King Arms aren't one of them. King Arms is a Western Arms system so in theory you could upgrade the hell out of it, but G&P make better WA-based stuff. Magazines are a lot of money and maintaining them it's a bit of a battle at times. Seriously consider whether this is a good idea as a starter gun as you will need to be heavily invested in it to get the results you want.
  19. It's a towel. Sorry to disappoint - this flat has a horrible brown carpet and I had to lay a towel down so the nozzles could be seen properly. Yeh, my wide bore was a 1/8" too and fitted straight onto the Redline; wasn't an issue. I'd wager 95% of the lines in the UK right now are US too as Redline and Amped both make theirs to US sizes, and all the big regulator brands are from the US too. Beesting won't be an exception so it'll be US I dunno if they sell IGLs in the EU size though. I know they're shrink wrapped, which would indicate they're maybe modular (i.e. simply threaded together). In which case you could buy a US one and then turn it into an EU one yourself with relative ease. Again though, not something I've done and not something I will bother doing seeing as the M249 can't take a conventional IGL. Perhaps a project for the future. I was looking at the Redline grip line (which attaches straight onto a macro line rather than the DG/Polarstar/SMP engine) and still might buy one to see if I can change it over to an EU spec, but right now I'm happy with the free reinforced spring thingy that HPAirsoft provided with the hose I bought.
  20. That's a large font. These two threads in particular will answer most of your questions: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/3779-the-beginners-guide-to-airsoft/ http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/17294-ians-guide-to-noobism-on-a-tight-budget/ And the index: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/12854-new-player-guides-info/ M4 wise, I'd don't worry about it being ambidextrous initially - there's no brass flying out so being left handed is totally fine. Otherwise you may have to go out of your way to buy ambi selectors and mag releases and that's a hassle and significant expense. G&G CM16s are always popular, but it depends on your budget. ICS are also very good with their beginner M4s. Sniper rifles: Almost always a bad choice for starting out. Great expense to upgrade so they're skirmishable and also require significant patience and knowledge of a site to get kills. Also, 'sniper' is a role, not a type of gun. BBs: Depends on budget. G&G and ASG Blasters are popular and have a good reputation. Again, if you want to spend more there are other brands. Avoid Bulldogs - they're not 'everywhere', heh. What ungodly websites are you looking at? Websites: Fire Support, Patrol Base, Zero One etc. I think they're listed in one of the guides.
  21. Double post because images. Male ends. EU left; US right. Notice about 1mm bore size difference (pretty significant). Female ends. EU left; US right. Note, US is a standard Redline bore width, not a wide bore; the EU is a wide bore, but the connectors are obviously the same. Not much to show, but the female EU one is a slightly nicer QD fitting as you don't lose as much air when attaching and detaching it because of its internal design.
  22. All the BBs are the same size in most guns - 6mm. Weights are different though, and 0.25g gives you a range boost over the 0.20g, so is recommended. The G&G CM16 will deal with 0.25g fine, but you may need to turn the hop up a little (refer to manual)
  23. Assumed the mesh mask was a full one, but you're completely right - put it into Google and it's only a lower mesh.
