If you're looking for a lightweight loadout I'd recommend a minimalist plate carrier such as a Flyye Gen 1 FAPC or a chest rig like the Tactical Tailor Mini MAV. The one you're looking at could be good if it works out cheap though. It's TMC so I'm not sure how good the quality will be.

There's been a lot of good comment on here and a small bit of hysteria. Ian, Lozart and Chock make some excellent points, Chock, "our hobby requires a great deal of responsibility" is absolutely right!
For my two pence worth, its all about context and there are many layers to the context.
In the UK we police by consent, proximity policing, in the US it is non-proximity policing, law enforcement. I.E. if you do not comply i will force you!
UK police officers would have reacted very differently, but if there was a credible threat, they would have reacted swiftly and effectively, the Lee Rigby murder is a case in point, swift use of potentially deadly force and then immediate follow up with life saving treatment.

In the US it is very very different. The spate of shootings, many involving schools mean police no longer contain and assess, they have to go in hard to deal with the threat. we may not like that or approve, it is easy to sit in judgment, but that is the tactic they have evolved through hard bitter experience. Just watch the Columbine footage as police assess outside while students are murdered inside.

Equally there are a large and worrying number of incidents in the US where police officers use deadly force, without apparent justification and then watch their victim bleed out. There are countless clips on YouTube of this, the most worrying is a deaf guy shot in the back for jay walking because he failed to stop when challenged. Even more worrying is the fact that there seems to be no legal redress against these "reckless" officers.

I thank god I live in Great Britain! it may not be perfect, but it is better than a great many places the world over. It allows me the freedom to practise my hobby in safe and fun conditions.
I in return act responsibly and educated my children to do the same.

That's not how it works at all sites. Skirmish Airsoft Mansfield for eg give you a membership number which is their reference for your details, but when they send off your deets to a UKARA registered retailer you get a different number back which begins with 3 letters identifying the site, so mine begins "SKI" - I'm not sure how UKARA assign letters if you do your 3 games at different sites, but regardless, it is a UKARA player registration number. Your site may simplify things for their records, for eg if they know that your UKARA number will begin with their site ID, they will know which number comes next.

E.g. Wombat Airsoft Ltd have registered 31 players, so they know their next player to get a UKARA number with their site ID will be WOM00032.

Let's be clear here, there is no such thing as a UKARA number. Your site gives you a membership number that a UKARA retailer puts on a darabase ergo a "UKARA number" is your site membership number

Hmmm, there are so many myths about the UKARA system. I know some others have already said these things but...

Your site membership number is your "UKARA number" seeing as they simply act as a database of membership numbers at approved and insured sites.

Many site owners simply use it to reduce the number of calls they get directly from retailers asking if X person is a skirmisher with them. There are some sites that don't like UKARA but are happy for you to simply pass on their office number and your membership number, retailer then calls them direct, this is essentially the same service UKARA offers.

There are other forms of defence, things like skirmish diaries/logs etc, there were a pair of alternatives even knocking around on here like BAC and Project Luther (although I think the name has changed). UKARA seems to be the easiest for most people to deal with.

That's exactly my point, it's the most popular system but it does nothing to stop underage people getting rifs. If overnight ukara went away it would be no easier for them to get hold of guns. Only 18+ people can get ukara registered but that's because of the VCRA, which is the limiting factor.

The VCRA is the law and that imposes the 18+ limit, ukara is a way for people of age to get realistically coloured guns, whilst protecting the retailers, nothing more.

The VCRA is what's in place to stop it, ukara doesn't stop minors having rifs any more than having no ukara would. You need to be 18+ with a valid defence to obtain one, but that's it.

We don't need ukara, ukara wouldn't have prevented this in anyway.
