  1. Great post, needs to be sticky! Just to chuck in my 2p; Using a dual monitor radio to man 2 separate frequencies at the same time isn't going to do you any favours, 2 frequencies need 2 radios and 2 earpieces/speakers/whatever. Having 2 different conversations being piped into the same ear just means you can't hear either!
  2. Inforce WML, not really suitable for helmet mounting. Switch is a bit funky for that purpose.
  3. It is an offence for an under 18 to buy a gun, doesn't matter if the website you buy it from has a flaw that allows you to do it.
  4. This is one of those subjects where if you're not 100% clear all of the time people get confused and make all kinds of incorrect assumptions/assertions. Whenever talking to someone new/ignorant of the VCRA I always make myself as clear as I possibly can in order to avoid that. It's an initially complicated subject that becomes really clear when you realise what people can/can't do.
  5. OWNERSHIP IS NOT LEGISLATED AGAINST AT ALL. THERE IS NO AGE RESTRICTION ON THE OWNERSHIP OF AN AIRSOFT GUN. The VCRA ONLY legislates against SALE, MANUFACTURE and IMPORT. Ownership is not mentioned at any point, therefore it is not illegal for an under 18 to own an airsoft gun be it RIF or otherwise. Please read this: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/38/section/36 & then this: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/38/section/40 Sale of an IF/RIF and purchase of an IF/RIF are illegal when it comes to under 18's, OWNERSHIP is not mentioned and is therefore LEGAL.
  6. This thread is great, writ large the ignorance of the average airsofter who thinks he knows what's what because he's chatted to some people in the safe zone! UKARA is a means by which you can provide a seller with a defence against prosecution so they can sell you a RIF; selling is a crime, retailers want a cast iron (ish) way to cover themselves because they're the ones breaking the law. UKARA is it, though by the letter of the law they just need to believe you are purchasing for use in a permitted activity. UKARA is your means of providing a defence for yourself if importing, as you're committing a crime by importing a RIF. Like a retailer, customs want something documentary so they can satisfy themselves 100% that while you are illegally importing a RIF (it is still a crime) you have a defence against prosecution for doing so. UKARA is meaningless when it comes to ownership as owning a RIF (even if you NEVER play) isn't a crime. There is no part of any law in the UK that prohibits the ownership of a realistic imitation firearm and so you do not need a defence. Manufacture is where you can satisfy yourself that you have a suitable defence, since the wording of the skirmisher's defence is just that the RIF is to be used for the permitted activity. By the letter of the law you can plan to go to a game, paint your gun and then never go.
  7. all G&G guns are CCW for reference.
  8. Out of production for years, there's probably a couple knocking around in Hong Kong stores, if you contact Keith at MLEMart.com he might be able to help find one for you.
  9. While you were undoubtedly in the wrong for leaving a magazine in the gun, the responsibility for anyone being hurt would always be with the person who pulled the trigger. Standard rules of firearms apply, always assume a gun is loaded until you have absolutely proved otherwise. Sadly a lot of airsoft players don't heed any kind of caution when handling their toys. Please don't take this as a dig, clearly you won't make the mistake again! This scenario is a good example of why some rules which seem like they might not apply to everyone really do apply to everyone. If the site rules state that you must clear your gun and remove magazines, it doesn't matter how safe you are... there's always the lowest common denominator that can f*ck everyone's day up
  10. Tie a loop of paracord through the hole and attach your sling to that. Common sense is dead.
  11. I use 11.1v LiPo exclusively, why cock around with 7.4 when you can have more oomph?
  12. Slow down there mate, they're just BB guns... it takes a LOT of force (more than 2.3j) to get through the carotid artery or the trachea, no way on earth could an airsoft gun cause a life threatening wound, if that were the case people wouldn't be allowed to shoot each other with them. MEDs are imposed by sites (not insurers) for the comfort of participants, not their safety.
  13. Had you ever done an error management or human factors course you'd realise that what 'actually happened' 99% of the time isn't relevant, what ACTUALLY happened and how the accident happened isn't that important either. It's preventing that from happening again in future. People cutting corners or not doing what they should is an organisational problem that is beholden upon everyone to report, lest someone get injured as a result of institutionalised negligence.
  14. Why would wearing a helmet make you look like a tit? Obviously there's exceptions... But there's exceptions the other way too:
  15. ESS will survive birdshot, the most powerful airsoft gun you've ever seen won't even mark the lens.
  16. I always wear my eye protection in the safe zone, can't trust people to not fuck around with their toys. http://www.tactical-kit.co.uk/crossbow-suppressor-one-glasses-clear-x1-lens-10302-p.asp those are the glasses I wear for everything but extremely close CQB, your mileage may vary but they fit my face great.
  17. Minimum 3 games in not less than 2 months. 8 games in not less than 2 months is as good as 3.
  18. To be fair, any decent set of military goggles will go round a helmet no problem, the straps are longer to allow you to do that.
  19. I've never seen anyone wear boogie regulators for more than one game, they fog like mad on EVERYONE because they're designed with vehicle/parachute operations in mind where there's a huge amount of air being forced into them. Can't recommend against them enough for airsoft.
  20. PTW finally came back from being fettled by Tackleberry, shoots like a dream, just gotta take it out for a play so if can get a bit dinged up now
  21. 'upgrades' normally aren't. People on the internet at 20m to the actual range of their gun, which they've judged by eye anyway.
