The laser on that gun though is a Steiner DBAL-PL which is fitted with an eye safe class1 IR laser.

Marginally more dangerous than a red laser, since it's invisible there's no blink reflex. That said, a class 1 IR laser is nominally eye safe in that short exposure will not cause any damage much like a class 1 red laser, staring into it isn't going to do you any good but what are the odds?

The one your grandfather owns isn't a scope though, it's designed to be head mounted. There's a reason every military that uses night vision head mounts it!

Just get a lexan lens protector! Airsoft with proper night vision is great fun :-) I wouldn't absolutely recommend getting a helmet mount for it rather than the GG&G weapon mount you have now. That set up would be great for hog hunting, not so good for people hunting.

If you're mounting the NOD behind an EOTech there's absolutely no requirement for an IR laser, you're just providing an aiming point for other NVG users to shoot at you.

Not being a snob, just pointing out that viper kit is awful and massively overpriced, for the same cost he could probably have bought a warrior universal holster or a fobus which would be MUCH better.

If you stop spending money on Viper dropleg holsters you might have enough money to buy quality kit!

Just to chuck in my 2p; Using a dual monitor radio to man 2 separate frequencies at the same time isn't going to do you any favours, 2 frequencies need 2 radios and 2 earpieces/speakers/whatever. Having 2 different conversations being piped into the same ear just means you can't hear either!

Inforce WML, not really suitable for helmet mounting. Switch is a bit funky for that purpose.

While you were undoubtedly in the wrong for leaving a magazine in the gun, the responsibility for anyone being hurt would always be with the person who pulled the trigger. Standard rules of firearms apply, always assume a gun is loaded until you have absolutely proved otherwise. Sadly a lot of airsoft players don't heed any kind of caution when handling their toys. Please don't take this as a dig, clearly you won't make the mistake again! This scenario is a good example of why some rules which seem like they might not apply to everyone really do apply to everyone. If the site rules state that you must clear your gun and remove magazines, it doesn't matter how safe you are... there's always the lowest common denominator that can f*ck everyone's day up
