  1. I have seen other people in posts say that mags should only be oiled every once in a while to help travel of the spring. It's suggested that you keep a bag of bb's that are used as the 'oil' bb's when maintaining your mags, obviously you shouldn't fire the bb's you have used to oil the mags up. Can't remember where I've seen it I think it was on a blog or something like that, was a while ago now!
  2. Crikey what have I started! Lol. Just wanted to ask as a beginner, I would like to learn more maintenance and how-to stuff to look after my weapons, rather than pay for it to be done. Although I do understand sometimes you do need a pro to look at your weapon!
  3. Hi guys, Played my first game day with my A&K M4 and I just wanted to know about cleaning the barrel for future reference. I have seen people say rubbing alcohol is good to clean with - is this product what I'm looking for? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360771649160 Any suggestions, links to other products would be appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Well, basically got an email back saying they are more than happy to help, however they couldn't tell me how compatible the rifles are (???) e.g. are they TM based. Although they did say that they do manufacture a 120rd midcap, but they do not have an agreed distributor as of yet to sell them, so they offered me to buy them direct from them. I have asked for more information, and explained that it may not be best price-wise to order from Hong Kong due to import tax, however if they can offer me a good deal then I'm willing to think about it, as someone said above, can't go wrong with same-brand mags surely? Most mags I see are first off TM compatible, however obviously I know different brands of guns have different specs. for their magwells. I did find a cheap mag on taiwangun, where in the description they state 'Medium capacity magazines for M4 series fits to AEG replicas in Tokyo Marui standard'. My rifle is listed below this, so I assume that I can take a chance on any mag that is listed as being TM compatible. The mag itself is steel constructed 150 rounds for £7.27 per mag, obviously Chinese made. Dunno if im willing to take the risk on spending 50 odd quid on those mags for them to only last 5 mins as they are pretty cheap. I am more leaning to King Arms mags, I have seen on fire-support they have a box of ten of their plastic 120rd mags for £49! Haven't found a deal like that anywhere else.
  5. Where did you grab that deal? I know they say on the description that e.g. 'strong enough to drop on the floor when reloading', but I wouldn't want to do that, why you would do that I have no idea. Anyone tried Dytac invaders? I see they are a another cheaper option. Obviously as with most things, I know you get what you pay for but I'm not shitting out money lol. I have actually contacted A&K directly by an email address on the website acmairsoft.com (the parent company) to see if they can tell me how compatible their rifles are, for example, King Arms mags are TM compatible. Will post again if I hear a reply.
  6. My bad!! I have the PJ4 CQB from Taiwan Gun (basically A&K M4, but with Taiwan Gun's additions). So yeah looking for the STANAG type mags. Would have definitely have helped if I had said that in the first place
  7. Hi peeps, Just wondering what brands people use for their mid cap magazines? Ideally I want a box set of 8-10 mags (I don't mind plastic mags) and for me, with fuel, family bills etc., ~£50 is quite a lot to spend on something that in the end, may not be up to scratch. I have read MAG and King Arms are good brands, and obviously these are the more expensive of the mags, compared to ASG box set of 10 mags. Just wanted to see if people could add their thoughts on which brand they use and what the quality is like of them. As I've said on other posts I'm just starting out on getting my gear and don't really want to take unnecessary risks if I don't have to. Cheers
  8. Ed, Had the same conversation last night with my mate, I don't know the brand of chrono he has but it's basically brand new, only used it a few times. I chrono'd my M4 at the same time and it has an M90 spring in it (has to change it from original, again from Taiwan gun, was shooting at over 430fps!) and on .25 that was at ~270fps, which was about right I think. I was using the exact same bb's and like you suggested I did fire several shots - can't remember exactly how many but it was more than 5 I think. I'm playing on this Sunday so will have a look at the chrono again. If it's obviously too powerful then it will be sidelined, better safe than sorry. As I've only just got it I only have the one mag for it so it wouldn't get me very far anyway haha!
  9. Have just enquired and I had green gas within my mag. My friend has informed me it's simply propane mixed with silicone. Is there differences between brands on this type of gas that could potentially overpower a weapon?
  10. Been checking my local site information and of course I was completely wrong to say '1 joule limit'. As said above the site does say a maximum of 350 fps for fully automatic weapons, which seems the norm. Feel a bit silly now lol
  11. Oh right, I have been misinformed along the lines then! I am unsure as to which gas was used as I was with my friends testing all our guns. I shall find out! But on the point of the 1 joule limit I thought this was the case. I shall try with .20 bb's and see the difference. Thanks for correcting me anyways - helps if I know what's going on lol.
  12. Hi all, I was very happy to receive a KJ Works M9 Beretta Vertec for my birthday (had my eye on it for a while, on Taiwangun) and since first testing I found that it shoots a little hot! Not too much, on my friends new chrono using .25's it calculated it at 1.2 joules. Obviously over the uk limit of 1 joule, so the question is how do I slightly reduce the power on my new pistol so I can actually use it on gameday against people, and not paper targets lol. Any tips would be great, I'm new to airsoft so go easy on the big words! Lol Cheers
  13. Haha we wouldn't have this conversation if they were in stock! I have seen they are in on Red Wolf Airsoft though so just got to get funds together for them lol, £54.50 they are. Thanks for the help though guys, it's appreciated.
  14. Hmmm maybe I should stick to UK/Europe lol. Does anyone have any experience with ASG mid cap mags? I see they are on a few websites for a box set of 10 for around £45.
  15. Hi guys! Now following this post anyone can tell me I'm a fool or what not but just wanted to see if anyone has got an idea of what I want to know: Basically I would like to get a box set of mid caps and have dug around the net and (most) sites/people have recommended MAG mid caps - but can I find any in stock in the UK??? Nope. Ehobbyasia have the ones I want in stock however I need to know if I'm going to be paying import tax on top of what I pay for at ehobbyasia: 8 x MAG 130rd mid caps = $42.00 Standard delivery to UK = $26.00 (£40.05 currently, product+delivery) Import tax = ??? Comparable price if in stock: Patrol base for same product: £52.99 So yeah if we had stock over here it would be brill but hey ho. Any help/advice or sarcastic comments welcome!
