31, still spry enough to make most of the kids look like the unfit TV junkies they are though!

I think he means real bullets. FYI lexan is not bulletproof.

you SHOULD have to pay import duty and VAT on them, but you might not have to. I've had packages stopped by customs and others waved through without a charge, but I always budget for having to pay £13 parcelforce handling fee, 20% VAT and 3-4% import duty. If you don't get charged then great... if you do then you've planned for it and all is well

Will an Airsoft Gun 'Scare Off' a Fox?
jcheeseright replied to Jourdan_S's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
No one of sound mind is going to justify you shooting a fox with an airsoft gun. As I said before it's illegal and you could very well wound a fox with an airsoft gun, I've seen first hand what a BB does to an eyeball. If you want to scare foxes away buy some repellent or a 12g alarm mine. Failing that, secure your bins and they won't come around anymore. -
Will an Airsoft Gun 'Scare Off' a Fox?
jcheeseright replied to Jourdan_S's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I'm not entirely sure where to begin, so I'll start with the biggest obstacle you've got here; This is illegal and cruel. You can't get a section 5 FAC to shoot foxes with .22 rimfire, needs to be minimum .223 because wounding an animal is unacceptable, needs to be a clean kill if you're going to shoot one. Go down this route if you like, but it don't think it'll be effective. It'll also mean you're a massive cunt. -
1500fps with a 5 or 6 gram bullet, huge amount more mass.
-
UKARA is a retailers association not the law, the Violent Crime Reduction Act is what we as British players would need to overcome. I honestly don't see it happening any time soon though.
-
Yeah, my old tri shot would occasionally record 1500+fps clearly wasn't actually doing that much. As for 1600fps killing someone? Dream on, I'd be amazed if that'd even penetrate sturdy fabric. Bear in mind that it's a .2g plastic projectile, it'd break the skin for sure but it's still carrying a conparitively tiny amount of energy. Approximately 1650 fps with 0.2g BB is 25 joules, an SA80 by contrast has a muzzle energy of 1850 joules.

As I said earlier, I don't rate the goggles/glasses and separate lower mesh option. There's a built in gap which just strikes me as asking for trouble if it's not fitted perfectly. Full face or glasses for me, no in between.
-
why do you want a 50 round pistol mag? it'll just get in the way.
-
the TM mag will fit in the WE gun, but might not work as well as it should. Get a WE mag and a WE pistol or a TM mag and a TM pistol if you can. WE magazines have high-fow valves as standard to overcome the extra weight of the pot metal slide, TM pistols have a much lighter ABS slide and so don't need the extra oomph provided by the high-flow valve.

I wear shooting glasses (ESS Crossbow), have done for a long time and will continue to do so. The ONLY time I've ever had a BB inside of them was as a direct result of a poorly fitting lower mesh mask (which I have now ditched). The BB hit the top of the mesh and ricocheted up under my glasses leaving a small bruise under my eye. I believe the exact same thing happened to the guy in the thread dapprman linked and I honestly believe you're safer with shooting glasses and a gum shield than you are with shooting glasses and mesh. As for BBs finding their way through the gaps around the sides and bottom, while it is possible, it's pretty unlikely, not only that they'll have needed to bounce at least twice before they can actually get to the eye if your glasses fit properly. BBs are low energy projectiles, a direct hit on a completely unprotected eye will do some serious damage (I know this first hand having shot a friend in the eye in a freak accident), but ricochets use up a lot of energy. As for bio BBs being lower quality or less safe than normal plastic ones? Hogwash, blasters shatter, pro balls shatter, marui BBs shatter, G&G BBs shatter, madbull shatter. All BBs will shatter if they hit something harder than them at the right angle, if anything I'd say that certain brands of bio BB (green devil in particular) are less likely to shatter as they contain no air bubbles. Airsoft is becoming massively risk averse because of people doing the 'what if' dance. A fine example of that is in the 'did I do the right thing' thread where someone is suggesting that an airsoft gun at point blank could potentially inject air into a VEIN OR ARTERY (what the actual fuck?) based on their limited knowledge of biology and their perception of how high the air pressure in their gun is. It only takes a few chinese whispers for that to change from "this could happen I think, my science teacher told me..." to "gas pistols can kill you if you shoot a vein!". In short, if you're playing in woodland (CQB I recommend full face!) then shooting glasses that fit you properly are perfectly safe providing you don't add in a platform from which BBs can ricochet under/around them (e.g a poorly fitting mesh mask).
-
a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. you are at ZERO risk of a BB piercing an artery or vein, even at 600fps I doubt you'd be able to damage one. this simply can not happen with an airsoft gun, stop worrying about it.

Whats the best way to stop your goggles from Fogging?
jcheeseright replied to MrCheesman94's topic in General Discussion
never wet doesn't dry clear, it goes kinda 'frosty'. won't work for eye protection. -
What?! no, don't be retarded. No one is saying that shooting someone at point blank with a 500fps gun is a good idea, the MED is there for a reason but to suggest that snipers can 'bang' kill people inside their 30m MED is outrageous. If that were a rule I'd buy a sniper rifle tomorrow and never fire a shot because I wouldn't ever have to aim again; I could just run about shouting bang and people would be dead. If you have a sniper rifle that has a mandatory MED then its USELESS even as a prop inside of that MED, get another gun or go for the contact-kill. As for someone putting the muzzle of a loaded 500fps gun anywhere near my face (e.g. on my shoulder)... I dare you, I double dare you to try that. It'll end up with that 500fps gun in 2 bits over my knee and some tiny tears from the pleb who thought it was a good idea.
-
beefier spring will up your FPS but with a mis-matched air volume it'll negatively effect accuracy. Probably not by much though.
-
Most places I know of that have super-CQB have a touch kill rule whereby if you can put a hand on someone's shoulder they're dead, no 'hit' gets called they just leave and go to regen. It's not a safety thing (350fps is not dangerous even at point blank range) it's a sneakyness thing. Then again, the people I tend to play with these days are of a more mature and practical mindset and accept that while a point blank shot in the armpit or inner thigh (oh god, it hurts) is uncomfortable it's not going to do anything more than bruise. The alternative is shouting 'bang bang' at each other with potentially unloaded guns or pointed fingers which leads eventually to arguments or people abusing the rule. The 'bang rule' isn't for safety, it's so soft people don't throw their toys out of the pram when their tampon strings get pulled and they end up with a boo-boo.

slower to reload, heavier. honestly I reckon you'd be better off with a long pointy stick and a shorter pointy stick in case someone gets really close. -

I personally side 100% with the OP here, if the sniper is inside MED then he cannot fire for reasons of safety, fair enough. I'm not going to EVER take a 'bang' kill from someone more than 5 metres away, certainly not 30 metres. There's absolutely zero guarantee he'd have hit his target at that range; I have seen some properly speshul shooting from airsofters who are shouting 'take your hits' while the overhopping BBs are chopping through leaves 5metres above me. If you want to play the sniper role in airsoft (which is a game, with rules) then you either accept that you're unable to engage within 30 metres or you buy a secondary weapon without an MED. Personally I disagree with the bang rule entirely and believe it's a crossover from the states where they play with much higher FPS limits than the UK. I regularly play CQB in a site where the longest possible sightline is about 20 metres and engagements often happen at corners with distances less than 2-3 metres; does anyone complain about 'bang kills' etc, no, they don't. Because 328-350 FPS isn't dangerous even at point blank, it just stings a bit. The bang rule is bullshit and common courtesy is what's required, if you're up close clearly it's not cool to light someone up on full auto, but to point your gun at them and say "bang bang" is just sad, we're not playing cowboys and indians in a primary school playground.

zombie apocalypse.....would your gun do the job!?
jcheeseright replied to Pointman PUG's topic in General Discussion
no, a metal BB (even one that weighs 2g) at 450fps is a seriously small amount of energy, you'd be lucky to injure a person seriously with it let alone penetrate a skull and several inches of brain matter. -
A good choice, Flyye kit is solid. Their 6094 is a little on the large side though, they market it as a 6094A but it's more like a 6094B
-
yeah, I can actually see a use for these in a way, while the weight is a bit daft since they're all completely identical you can use them as a really good benchmark BB if you're fettling a bolt action gun to be as accurate as possible. Removing the possibility of 'duff BB flier' from the thought process allows you to concentrate on the real problems that a gun may have.
