  1. What's the go-to newbie best-value AEG recommendation these days?  Mate of mine is out of the service soon and might want his own RIF for a bit of running about on Sundays.

Hard to see how you can beat the Double Eagle M9xx series for value.  Rotary hop, QC spring, fire control system with burst mode, wired to Deans.  Plastic at the lower end, if that's a deal-breaker.

Hard to keep them in stock, PatrolBase only has the M904L at the moment.

Yep I'd say DE best value right now, but might be hard to find stock.

Cyma for m14s, mp5s and AKs. £150ish for a really solid platform

  3. Thanks for the heads up mate I'll look in to that now edit - @JimFromHorsham I hadn't toggled the right widgets in the sub-menu of a sub-menu so yeah cheers for that mate would not have know otherwise! Should be able to go ahead now if you like. It's not cheap coming from the states unfortunately so it might be worth doing the maths on the cost of this with postage price plus the 20% VAT and courier robbery fee vs buying the full fat version from Tactical-Kit. You can maybe off load the Tubes too for £10-15 in the right tactical gear sales groups.
  4. You crazy suns'a'bitches you did it.. Honestly pretty bonkers the amount of options that have been coming out the past few years. So much so it's getting hard for airsofters to say 'JuST aNoThEr m4'. That's gonna be a logistical labour of love, possibly looking at a dedicated chest rig setup with something like Spiritus mutant pouches or other more old school LMG pouches to carry extra drums and bb mags unless you don't plan on shooting much. Presumably need a good supply of bulk propane, 88grammers or whatever HPA weirdos do to keep themselves fup-fupping away. But on the flip side you obviously get more shots of GBB fun-ness than just about anything else per game. Credit where it's due they've come up with all the feeding options one could reasonably ask for from a new release, hope everything is well made.
  5. Left this too long without updating! If you don't use the FS Tubes there's now a version of the Hub that's a decent bit cheaper available on thefull9.net/f9gear which ships from the US and they're also coming to AG-Tactical in France. Also had the first Hubs made in Coyote Brown.
  6. Yeah I was yellow too, I probably did see you at least I recall a father and son pair and the lad seemed to be playing right which is always a pleasure to watch compared to some of the drug-up little... annoyances, that get sent to games just so their parents don't have to deal with them for a day. Don't know if we're talking about the exact same bloke, but a little while after he was blatantly cheating while talking to me he was wasting the time of 2 marshals complaining about a red player for something; it's always those types.
  7. I've probably been meaning to go to Ironsight for 8+ years or so if I'm remembering correctly and actually got around to it yesterday. When I was walking in to chrono and saw a kid coming the other way wearing a Dye mask, beanie only partially on his head like a nipple and super short AR with a Supreme sticker on the stock I said in my head 'oh no' when I noticed the HPA filling stations right after. Luckily with the large majority of the site not having a roof over it it's not actually conducive to try-hard sweats shooting their hoses from the hip at all, but it is the only site I've personally been to that has an air compressor setup available for all customers to use so it's only natural it'll attract HPA users (which don't all look like hype beats fortunately). The things I really care about these days: -Car park is really close to the road and not an off-road experience bundled in with the skirmish ticket ? -Toilet block one of the very best I've seen, clearly is actually maintained and cleaned and isn't 25 years old. -Safe zone/s well covered with more table space than was even needed (no idea if player count was lower than normal admittedly), though a definite shortage of chairs to go along with the tables overall. -Safety brief wasn't tooo long, just right really. Game briefs were super quick which was nice in a way but maybe could be just a tad longer for some clarity. -Unfortunately I didn't partake in the pizza that's on offer so I can't comment. The shop is fairly nice inside, not a ton of actual airsoft product but I don't go to sites for that stuff anyway. Seemed to have enough in terms of food/snacks, drinks and consumables which is the main thing. Personally I only had good experiences with hit taking but I also heard the most shouting and arguing I think I've ever been witness to, though I get the feeling an awful lot of it was the result of less than 3-4 particularly large 40+ man-children (the one female playing and all the actual kids seemed really good). It made me laugh (inside) when one routinely confrontational cheat caller proceeded to embarrass himself in play, then when shot walk back past me and whisper "psst, there's one right in xyz location" like what the actual fuck mate.. I've never been anywhere where dead men talking was allowed; the classically ironic hypocrisy of it ? The first game split the site in to 3 areas with unlimited attackers and 1-life defenders; really good overall. The game after lunch was a smidge stale-matey sometimes but I got to participate in some very fun attacks and holds of ground. Unfortunately just before lunch we got basically spawn camped for around an hour, one of my more disappointing experiences. Finished out with a pretty interesting little close range blast fest inside one of the tunnels and they even removed the block on automatic. Generally pretty good staff overall, nice little site.
  8. It is ARES, so not a buy I'd recommend myself I'm afraid.
  9. Anyone here with 3D modelling skills/software/maybe a printer open to small commissions? I'm after a rail converter that slides on to picatinny but has NATO dovetail on top. edit - cancel that ? I went through quite a few pages of google, thought they didn't exist then found one on eBay. Soz @Speedbird_666
  10. I don't know of a better value than an issue black holdall, assuming they're still made half decently since mine's really old. Best things is unlike almost all other surplus 99.9% of people who've not been in won't know that it's military kit. Nice advantage for any car parks in sight of a public road or those who don't drive. The backpack straps aren't amazing compared to an actual backpack in terms of staying where you want them but they are really thoroughly padded which is surprising; did me well when travelling there and back on deployment when it was stuffed to bursting.
  11. TM pistols are never a problem they're a solution, the solution to wanting a really reliable pistol that shoots great.
  12. Sorry. Man.. the Nemesis was ridiculously good. I think they've long stopped making it which is bonkers because for the money that's honestly a high contender for the best value bit of kit anyone could ever get and it's just the ideal size for skirmishing. Makes the garand thumb chest rig people jizz their pants over look a bit shit to be honest. For me, when this comes up (which is obviously not uncommon in online discussions) it's not actually about airsoft or kit or whatever, the question is a bigger one. If I had kids and a mortgage and bought everything I do then I'd have 0 savings and probably a good bit of debt, and getting debt for tacticool stuff is most definitely stupid. But that's not the case, I've saved and invested more than I've spent on this malarkey. Never having any savings and waiting for every pay cheque to come in to then immediately splurge on something you've been eyeing the past 3 weeks since last being paid is an almost sure fire sign you're shit with your money - speaking generally. Like the financial version of a dog on a leash just absolutely frothing to go chase a rabbit it won't even catch. I do a very, very similar thing to alxndr, I've got a word doc list I started around 2006 or so where I type in both everything I have bought and the things I'm planning on getting. Apart from anything I do do quite ambitious builds sometimes and I need to note it all down or I'd forget which parts are compatible with what etc. But as above, if it's not 'in the plan' I don't generally just buy stuff on a whim that I happen to come across and the aforementioned plan is very long term. I check the New Products pages at many big retailers frequently, but unless something crops up out of the blue that I've been really wanting for many years (usually 3-4+) then it's not going in the basket if it's not planned.
  13. The rear sight is odd admittedly but yeah I had 3 of those many years ago and the guns themselves are very nice for sure. That old school SR-15 setup pre-freefloat handguards is a real throwback, specially for those who know the old pre-NGRS TM AEG that's similar looking.
  14. I roll my own for my IG sometimes. As a Crye/NV owner but non-milsim'er this is a topic I enjoy.
  15. I don't own a Specna so unless someone jumps in who knows you'll have to get digging for info on the thread specs on the upper receiver. It's probably the generic AEG thread and lots of AEG freefloat handguards will fit, but you'll wanna check.
  16. Well.. this thread has made me decide I need a timed BFG along with my impact ?
  17. What did it have on it? The longer version of that; if you want to keep the barrel nut. They're usually handguard-specific. Alternatively all you'll need is an adjustable spanner to get that barrel nut off assuming it's not glued/heavily loctite'd.
  18. I don't know of many sites now that allow auto up close? So the flip magnifier loses its' usefulness. The Elcan product line is notorious for being rock hard irl, hence it's seen a lot of machine gun usage with various forces over the years. I'm not really up on the latest clone optics, but holy warrior seems to be the way to go. Got a few Aimpoint T-X knock-offs here and an EoTech magnifier and they're lightyears ahead of the generic chinese optics I've got from the early days of such products being available. Though I also have an HWO EXPS3 that doesn't turn on and seemingly the battery compartment is just straight up built/sized wrong for any battery type I've ever seen, so the usual risks with aliexpress type dealings are ever-present.
  19. Bet you didn't even conduct the swap in a hermetic chamber to contain the TM dust ? It's half a joke... I think we're in that early-adopter phase right now with people treading unknown ground with the platform. It may be a one off of course, or maybe this design really doesn't like to be not-stock, or maybe it was a bad early batch, no way to say for sure. Personally I'm only changing the externals on mine and the plan is for that to be all I do, at least for say 3-5 years, even then only in the event they release more variants, the user base grows and really good MOSFETs come out perhaps that are even better than the stock one. My SOCOMs have a few little internal changes in 2 out of 3 (Deans swaps excluded), but I've left one dead stock and I'll bring one modded + the stock gun to any given game, which has worked nicely for many years I have to say.
  20. To me, there's been some misinterpretation of a bad translation. For my money, they're just saying that it functions the same as the real one, which is a stretch of a bullet point since TMs already do but anyway. There's been all-steel 1911s before for well over a grand, can't remember the brand now just remember redwolf advertising them. So yeah, basically all steel (especially if machined from billet) where possible with some 7075 internals makes the price quite understandable. I'd say the 'new magazine design not previously available' is the real thing to look in to, again, to my reading. Maybe they've pulled off some magic in that tiny single stack volume? Who knows.
  21. Is that a pistol brace?? You'd never catch me putting one of those on a RIF..
  22. I think, sufficed to say, he doesn't have many days-away under his belt. I find Christian Craighead fans a little OTT sometimes but in fairness the bloke has (I think) 14 medals and I was pretty chuffed with myself to get my 3rd recently.

  24. It is still perfectly usable. And then some. The R was my second pistol purchase 'way back when' and I got the E2 some time later for the slight step up and so that I'd have two solid sidearms compatible with the same sets of mags and holsters. Personally I much prefer the E2 grips, but performance between the two in the real world is really bloody similar in my experience.
  25. Maybe two at a stretch, if the gun worked for a short while but it turned out they just did a mediocre job, assuming they've learnt. That's basically what's happened to me recently. Example - I've been going to LC's Engineering for pushing a decade I think, super nice guy and I think myself lucky to call him a personal friend. He did some AEG internals for me maybe 4-5 years ago, I only used said RIFs once or twice in that time then took them to Luke at Negative a few months ago for more serious internal upgrades. Unfortunately the internals were quite prematurely worn when he took them apart due to some not-ideal build decisions/tweaks. As it stands LC's is also about 2 years in to a complete scratch build for me, for which I've slowly been drip feeding him the 'perfect' parts I've been sourcing from literally anywhere and everywhere. I definitely wasn't going nuclear and just scrapping the whole project, driving to his place and taking all my stuff back. Since he only put the GB together a few months ago and hopefully he's learnt with further experience but we'll see. If it doesn't run great then worst case I'll take the parts elsewhere, they're pretty pricey tbh so most will be able to be used again.
