  1. What are you all using as bb catchers for indoors? My cardboard filled box has some large holes and is due replacment.

A cardboard box with an NBC jacket hanging inside it, still got bb's all over my floor & some I aimed a bit low so they went right through the box :) but it works well enough.

My inner child coupled with my job as a heating engineer means I have a selection of hot water cylinders to shoot outside - the foam lagging acts quite nicely to  not only catch the BBs, but also quite handy for zeroing sights .  Quite what the scrappy will think when they finally get chopped in I don't know.  Inside I have a Gousto box with one of the boy's old school shirts inside.

I use a cardboard box, duct-tape'd the back for re-enforcement, stuffed it full of that paper stuff amazon use as packing and then tape paper over the front which means I can print targets etc.

When the front gets worn, I just tape more paper over the top. Nothing's got through the back yet, when it does I'll just tape another layer of card on.

Might have to put a hole in it at some point to empty the BBs out as it's getting proper rattly.

oh, and another thing, the spring on my mP5 is shorter than standard too!!!!!! We need a shop that deals only in springs of all different lengths and sizes!

Does that mean I need to buy a new AK every time I want to change the spring in an existing one?

@Colin Allen but of course. Isn't that what everyone does?

    3. Colin Allen

      Colin Allen

@Lozart I have been doing it wrong for so many years.

@DanBow Guarder use their own SP rating, which is measured on a 0.25g BB.

Therefore, a Guarder SP100 gives 100m/s using a 0.25g BB; everyone else rates their springs using a 0.20g BB.

  3. Who's stupid idea was it to try to put my gearbox back together when getting up after being on nights, and being so cack handed that the anti reversal latch spring has flown off and disappeared off into the ether? Oh yeah, that'll be me!!!!!!!

Ak2m4 has a gearbox set with one in for a few quid, so I'll be getting one if those shortly.

Spoon carving knives are particularly lethal! I've seen more cuts from those than any other knife....

Get the gearbox clips while you are at AK2M4

  4. I take it that too much grease, in a gearbox, is as bad as no grease?

I did have to give my UKARA number over to customs for whatever reason when Novritsch support sent me over a replacement G36 midcap because the one I bought to see if I liked it shit the bed - but I think that's just Austria to UK customs being stupid lmao

Here's a repro XC1/XC2 by WADSN if you're after something pistol related. They do fake X400s but I don't know the quality on them. Just waiting for the XC2s (dual mode, red laser + a torch) to come back in stock with the markings and then I'll probably grab one. Little bit more pricey due to the laser though, so you could always just get the XC1 without one. I just like the idea of being a bootleg Leon S Kennedy with my little laser lmao

Edit: found the X400 repros. No idea on the quality of them but they look the part and have the laser/light combo.

Ledray are bulletproof and not silly Surefire money.  Not cheap but I've had mine for 15 or so years.

I have a couple of these on airsoft rifs: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/354512677837  I think that I've had them about three years or so.  TBH I prefer to press the rear of the torch with my thumb, and angle/mount the torch to be able to do so.

  6. Just had a play with my chrono and my pistol fps is all over the place! Do I need to do "warm up" shots or is it new hop rubber time?

    1. Show previous comments  4 more
    2. The_Lord_Poncho

      The_Lord_Poncho

You will find that with almost every shot, unless you wait a minute or so between them, the FPS will likely drop - due to the cooldown of the gas.

Another reason that it might be wildly fluctuating- especially if you are getting a few sky high readings  -is that the Chrono is picking up the gas cloud itself. In which case, try holding the muzzle a little way back from the chrono (whilst taking a lot of care not to shoot out your screen!)

    3. DanBow

      DanBow

Thats a good point, there were a few shots that registered as shots but no reading showed.  I presume that waa picking up the gas?

    4. The_Lord_Poncho

      The_Lord_Poncho

Possibly....worth trying a little back and seeing what happens!

  7. Been casually looking at RIFs for the last few days but how do you know what's good out of the box and what's not?

    1. Lozart

      Lozart

Very little is actually "good" out of the box, depends on your budget though. A TM is usually fine as it comes, a lot of others are in need of more power/RoF/trigger response from the get go.

    2. Monty

      Monty

Most stuff these days seems pretty good, out of the box anyway, even the 'cheaper brands' Double Bell and Golden Eagle have made some top quality aeg's. I generally snuff at anything that takes their own 'proprietary' parts/mags, like G&G. Cyma 'platinum' aeg's are very nice.

    3. EDcase

      EDcase

Yeah, most are decent and there are some gems that shoot above their price point.

Just go for the look and style you want.

As long as it uses a V2 or V3 gearbox you know there are plenty of parts available to improve if necessary.

  8. I'm bored today so expect plenty of threads, some may be about postage!

  9. Do you use a LiPo bag for storage or just for charging?

Stored in a LipoSafe bag, but charged in the kitchen on a glass chopping board.

I store all my batteries in an ammo box.

      I charge on my desk.

  10. I know they'll blame the Post Office but retailers really are ripping us off on postage! £7 postage on a £4 part! And they wonder why we go straight to eBay!

    1. Rogerborg

      Rogerborg

I have some sympathy. @ak2m4 was saying that anything not sent recorded delivery risks having buyers claiming that it never arrived, right down to £4 parts.

Sure, the same applies to eBay vendors, and it's even easier to claim, but they tend to be set to shift enough volume to cover those losses.

tl;dr version - people are awful, we shouldn't ought to be allowed.

  11. If I put someone on my ignore list, why do their posts still show up on the activity list? Seems like I wasted 20 seconds putting someone on there!

  12. I know its an airsoft form but can I sell an air rifle part? It's only a brass adapter I have lying around. Cant be bothered with ebay!

  13. Just filled in the paperwork for my UKARA. Exactly 56 days between the first three games! How's that for good planning?

  14. Why do we get so many soam accounts? What can we do to stop it?

    1. Cr0-Magnon

      Cr0-Magnon

Because they found out how much airsofter's pay for BB guns made in Taiwan and assume we're gullible for other products too.

Unfortunately we cannot block all the spam from china. Luckily we do not comment on social issues otherwise the CCP would use their spambots to flood the forum with junk to shut out any dissent.

    3. Rogerborg

      Rogerborg

I'm convinced that the pharma-spam was down to one post I made that listed some see-aye-ess numbers for solvents, a spambot picked that up and started flooding us with ingredients for Breaking Bad, and then other spambots saw those posts and it spiralled from there.  That's how you get their attention, but I've no idea how to unget it. :(

  17. When the next batch of patches being sent out?

  18. If there's an award for reporting spammers, im sure I'm in the running! That's 3 in the last few days!

  19. I hope anyone that's playing today has a good day. I'm on nights this weekend so have just got into bed. Not jealous much! 😪

@DanBow No, one or two reports per user is fine. Otherwise if there are multiple accounts with several posts each, like many china attacks, and you report each post it will slows down the Mods whilst they work through them all.

  21. Are paintball eye pro suitable for airsoft?

    1. Rogerborg

      Rogerborg

With the caveat that someone might know of a specific exception, and that you should always be careful about buying generic "Paintball airsoft motorcycle adventure military action sport hobby fancy dress" gear from eBay or Amazon: yes.

(Legit) paintball masks are full face, full seal, and have to withstand higher energies than airsoft specific gear.

I use a Valken Annex MI-7 paintball mask with dual pane lenses that's commendably resistant to fogging.  DYE branded masks are particularly well regarded.

To be fair, Nuprol chargers tend to give a nice loud bang, followed by a crackling sound, and a clear olfactory notice that they've put in at least enough electrons.
