  1. Will find out in half an hour when he gets back from school - unless of course he's reading this - because I know his user name on this forum LOL.

Boy - you're not that clever!!!!

    🤣

To be fair to him he has been spending a lot of time lately planning ways to make himself money.  The current, genuinely good idea, is upcycling.

  2. I got into it because I was watching the lad have a wail of a time when I took him for a day, that I did a half day rental for the rest of the day, now its become a father/son thing.....    Problem is I have adult money to buy my toys and he has to rely on windfalls of cash here and there for relatives. 😁

  3. Well, having once again spent more money than I planned on this sodding sport...  I find I am going to be running effectively two platforms...  M4 and SVU..

Sooo...   I need some pouches to hold some SVU mags on my Mk IV Osprey Body armour.  I'm wondering if the LMG pouches would fit the mags?

    Any suggestions appreciated.

Actually think I've answered this myself....  Found a grenade pouch in my spares box and they fit quite snugly.

  4. Deans is just a better plug type than the normal mini Tamiya.  Easy enough to change if your RIF doesn't come with one, but starting out its not thing to panic about.

What RIF is best for you?  I'm still a noob, so take my advice as such, but I have a Specna Arms Core SA C12 which has a MOSFET and has served me pretty well for both Woodland and CQB.

Unless you have UKARA though you'll have to get a two tone.  But that gun was sensibly priced (IMHO) and leaves you plenty for the rest of your kit.  Don't forget a smart charger if you get LiPo batteries.

Probably best to rent for a few games to get eligible for UKARA then you can spend money on a normal colour, plus you'll know better what style of play you want to go down.  You might find you don't need a hand grip, but want to get a plate carrier and pouches.

One thing I learnt the hard way is to not go cheap on the speedloaders.  You'll only end up buying two or three cheap ones when you might as well have just got an Odin.

  5. I wear milwaukee safety glasses with yellow tint and anti-fog.

I checked the standards when I bought them and they were more than enough on paper for airsoft. I pinged a few shots onto an older pair to be sure and they only marked a little.

There is a risk of a bb bouncing past them, and I've had it happen once with no ill effect.

Full face protection is obviously the best, but I personally don't like it despite many shots to the face.

Ultimately it's about understanding the risks, and accepting that if you do decide not to go full monty on some aspects of safety wear then there's no point whining about the consequences.

As a tradesmen myself, bb hits to the face hurt a fair bit more than grinder sparks.

  6. So glad I am my own Human Resource department....  And Elf & Safety Womble...

Our company policy is simple - "Don't be a dick.  Don't do anything that will hurt yourself - or the bellend standing next to you."  Thankfully the people that work for me have much the same outlook on life.

20 years of running my own company means I am probably unemployable now in this country.

This !!!!!!!    FFS just blown more this morning.

Get decent boots with proper ankle support!   I wince when I see people running around in bloody trainers.

Ahhhh, there's a link to my personal fave band, Cardiacs.  Both Ginger (and presumably the rest of the Wildhearts) and Justin Hawkins being big fans.
Sadly of course, the mighty Cards haven't toured in years, due to Tim the lead singer suffering a heart attack when being mugged, and subsequently dying a couple of years ago... but Tim did some of the Wildheart's production work.

Last gigs I went to were Johny Marr at the Festival Hall, and Thank You Scientist at The Flapper in Birmingham... blimey, nearly 3 years ago in August.   I normally try to get to a few gigs a year.  Sucks that it's been so long :(

Some names ring bells there LOL.  When the Wildhearts reformed in the 00's I remember sitting in our kitchen with Stidi, and bottle of gold tequila, some other questionable substances, helping him get the stops right in Caffeine Bomb.  Having to listen to the drama's between minor (and occasionally middling) celebrities was at the same time amusing and tiring.  Ginger being the instigator of many.

Listened to a lot of Ramones and Tom Petty during those year too LOL

  9. Have a video of my lad loosing his shit to DuHast when he was 3 or 4 in the back of our car - it was hilarious.

Last gig I went to was me taking SWMBO to see X Japan at Wembley - fuck me that went on for nearly 6 hours.

Used to have a musician flat mate so went to a fair few smaller gigs in London (he was the/a drummer in the Wildhearts); he was supporting The Darkness when they had a world tour and managed to get us celebrity enclosure passes for the reading festival that year.  Remember having a few beers with The Offspring..... but not much else after that.  Woke up the following morning, upside down, in the back of my van with a close to dead battery an the radio still blasting music at full volume.

    Fun times.

  10. As mentioned in another thread, I'm steering my towards a DMR for my next major purchase.

I don't have the patience for bolt actions and gillie suits, but I quite like the thought out approach to cover and picking sight lines.

Also quite happy to be limited to one-ish shot at a time.

I suppose the main thing putting me off is the price of the heavier BBs which I also appreciate should be proportional to the ROF.  I can't help thinking theres a certain amount of piss taking though with the price almost doubling.

Comments appreciated on the roll versus regular AEGs.  Or is it worth investing in a regular aeg with decent range, albeit with less accuracy?

Indeed, I was going to pose the question elsewhere about what is considered a reasonable ROF when using a DMR

Was enjoying the more tactical style of play with my 4x acog, but my Specna simply doesn't have the legs; but it's more than adequate for my level of CQB.  I'm also not willing to spend any more on that particular gun.

Lighting a fire is not hard 🤣🤣🤣🔥👌

Brinkman make the best IMHO.  This is one that just won't die.... Have a half barrel one at my brothers house that is great for smoking too with its little chimney.

Love a good bbq I do.

Silicone mats are great for not tearing stuff like fish, chicken and Sausages...  That's my top tip for the weekend anyway.

  13. Yeah - those are the ones I got along with some base plates.

Decent replacements - got some valves from them too.

Not a bad company to deal with.  Very quick to respond to queries, although the replies are often "we just don't know when stock will arrive".
