  1. Excellent, I'll bear that in mind!
  2. I have to say I don't fancy the little parts pinging around, once I'm done with the hop and the barrel I'm leaving everything else alone so it can be a reliable back-up / occasional use gun!
  3. There's a whisper from Carlos at Special Ops that there might actually be a game next weekend (Saturday 13th Aug)... It'd be the first since May! I'll keep this thread posted with any further updates.
  4. Ooh! Ooh! Mr Peevly! Mr Peevly! Obligatory Double Eagle post... https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/double-eagle-m916a-utr556-metal-handguard-version?pv=18897
  5. Got my Visionking 1.25-5 scope and I have to say I'm very impressed. The eye box is... alright. If your mask allows some sort of repeatable cheek weld then a decent sight picture can be had very quickly, but I think as a Novritsch video mentioned when they compared sights, that if you're in an odd stance or in cover that restricts movement then you may have trouble picking it up as quickly as a red dot. The rest of it really impresses - clear glass, smooth zoom, very nicely illuminated reticle etc. It's a chunk of weight compared to a skinny red dot, but I'm very much looking forward to using it (whenever it is I actually get to play again), because at the 1.25x end of the zoom, it is possible to use it with both eyes open. (I'm sure, as mentioned before, with a bit of practice that it's possible to do that with any sight at low to medium zoom levels) I've ordered a custom protector from Red Dot Engineering on eBay, I'll post a pic of that when it arrives. Edit: The pic looks a bit weird, but it's a good job as usual from Red Dot. £10. Sizes were 30.1mm diameter, 20mm bezel. The zoom lever is a stubby little thing, but notably has a grub screw or bolt in the top of it - is there a generic zoom lever extender that can be fitted to make it a bit more 'glove friendly'? Edit: "What, you mean something like this?" https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313507427413 "£13! Way too much, how's about this" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nO6DUKtwC2U
  6. Rattle can 'MTP' on my olive green mag pouches... it's such an easy thing to do, but very satisfying for the 20 minutes it took
  7. I know, i know, I know, I apologise!
  8. I ran into the same thing, then I thought about and checked my attachments. We've got a 100MB limit on our attachments, the tiny size you're being told is the max size is whatever you've got left of that allotment. So yeah, go back and delete some old / big pictures and you'll be fine. What is best to do, if you can be bothered, is find the big ones and replace them in the threads with smaller or more compressed versions so you don't lose the usefulness of those old posts... but I think I'll be just deleting the images that don't have much intrinsic value. And going forward I'll be pasting screenshots into Paint.Net, saving them as JPGs and reducing the size and quality within there. I can then use the 'choose file' option to insert pics that are now often < 100K in size, and yet still a decent size in the post.
  9. My new mag pouches arrived from China (in fairly good time), and I can happily confirm they're the same size as the very first mag pouch I ever bought, and they happily accept (and retain!) the STANAG, AUG and M14 mags. They allow easy extraction and re-insertion. Obviously the STANAG M4 mags are the least secure, but I can still hold the pouch upside down and give it a shake without an empty Lonax mag falling out. And that's before I've tweaked the bungee cords. The MOLLE clips aren't brilliantly made (and the the retaining bits have some sprue on them which I'm trimming off, to improve their fitment) but yeah - they're good pouches. Especially for the low price they cost. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001220175776.html?spm=a2g0o.order_detail.0.0.4519f19c2WJPtx Time to get the rattle cans out and make them a bit 'MTP'. And to return the WAS 7.62 pouches and get my £60 back. Also got the M14 sight mount. Annoyingly the bolt for the forward hole is too big for the hole on the Cyma's body, I'm going to need to ream that out a mm or two. I used to have the thread tool with a variety of bits, but I've misplaced the damn thing... It's a heavy lump of metal, on a heavy gun. I don't think I'll be putting a full scope on it... unless it's to use for a couple of short games! Edit: Oooh I do love an unexpected visit from the delivery man... Visionking 1.25-5 scope. Got this on the classifieds, stuck it on my DE and I'm already impressed. Nice clear glass, good illuminated reticule, and it was even zeroed pretty well It's quite heavy though - it won't be going on the M14!
  10. I get what you're saying I would prefer a vanilla 1911, or even better a really good Browning Hi-Power, but the extra functionality of the newer design (bigger gas chamber for better performance in cold weather) and the mag capacity meant I (and a few others here) went the way of the TM D.O.R Yeah, I could do without the extra shizzle on the mag, but the gun performed brilliantly during the winter chill. And I think it retains the 1911's good characteristics
  11. There is a reason why NYC did this.... https://news.sky.com/story/teenager-thought-to-be-attempting-tiktok-water-gun-challenge-shot-dead-by-off-duty-officer-12657029 There is a tik tok challenge of people recording drive-by shootings with these things, and an off duty prison officer shot a kid dead. Apart from that tragedy, anything where Airsoft type guns are causing panics (in a country where mass shootings are common) and unsuspecting people are being shot at, who have no eye pro so might get blinded and are certainly being pissed off and perhaps hurt.... Well that's the sort of publicity we don't need.
  12. Yeah I can see that if you're wearing the ESS goggles over a helmet, the hinge structure that allows the headband strap to expand outwards over the top of the helmet creates a noticeable gap in the sides. It'd still be unlucky to have a shot find it's way through, but we've got to be all about taking luck out of the equation when it comes to keeping our eyesight. So if I ever get a helmet, I'll ditch them, but at the moment I still run with caps / hats which don't create that problem. In the meantime I'll strip off the foam bits and run them with the lenses in the safer 'back' position. Edit: And I've ordered some semi-rigid fine plastic mesh which I can glue on to provide some extra protection for the vent holes... which might be overkill but I'll see if it'll make me feel safer!
  13. OK thanks for that info.. I'll take a look at gluing some more mesh over the top...
  14. I'm using a set of ESS British Army surplus goggles. Full seal, and once you know to pop the lenses away from the face to open the vents, they're pretty good at not fogging up (any movement will get enough air through those vents to clear them) Dirt cheap too! (Well mine were, looks like they're ~£30 at the moment) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175352472498
  15. Hi, welcome to the forum What's the story with "gel blasters" and airsoft there? I must admit I was basically clueless about gel blasters until a YouTube Short fell into my stream. I thought they were confined to Asia for a start, and basically ignored them!
  16. A side-question about the Cyma M14 (CM.032, not the SOCOM version)... the length of pull (trigger to butt plate) feels very short at ~13". I researched on t'web and the Garand had a LoP of 16.5" Have the airsoft versions (both TM and Cyma) been scaled down for Asian markets, 7/8th scale perhaps, to make them more sellable in that market? Hah. To answer my own question, the M14 had a shorter LoP than the Garand. At (drum-roll) 13.5" Why didn't I search for that instead of the Garand M1? Answers on a postcard to Mr Silly Sausage, Table 27, Super Sausage Cafe, Towcester.
  17. Didn't post about my M14 when I bought it from the classifieds here, so making up for lost time... and just dropped through my letterbox is a holster (and MOLLE adapter) for my TM Hi Capa DOR It looks a bit like the Amomax holster from an earlier post, but it's an AliExpress special, so the thing is glued together rather than bolted, and the release button doesn't look as good... but it was cheap* and otherwise seems like it's good enough. Holster: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001339411443.html Adapter: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001365697637.html * The Amomax holster and adapters on eBay are actually cheaper than I thought, might as well save yourself a shipping delay and buy them, tbh.
  18. Thanks Lozart, much appreciated! Actually I read the description of the ZCI barrel, it comes with a groove + O-ring near the end of the barrel to stabilize it within the outer barrel... I don't even need to break out the electrician's tape it seems! However, it's £30 I don't necessarily need to spend... I might actually be less lazy / efficient and just try the hop rubber and give the barrel a good clean-out to see if that improves matters anyway... then I could spend the £30 on the new motor instead. Funnily enough I've just eaten a few jaffa cakes. Chocolate gone melty. Bwaaaah. But still delicious of course Well, it's not surprising but I had to ask. In fact I already fired off a quote request to Cage, to fix my F2000 (which still has a problem with the COL / trigger sledge and jams after a few shots) to test the waters, and did ask if they could do anything on the price for a bunch of guns.
  19. Isn't his waiting list about 3 months longer than the wait for the Second Coming? I could give it a try... Do any of these guys discount for multiple guns? I could send.... (counts out loud on fingers) seven guns to get fixed / fettled if I wasn't going to get absolutely ravaged on the total cost. Shipping might be 'fun' too. Excellent, thanks, that saved me from a silly mistake! Actually, is shorter an option? AK2M4 has the 494mm in stock, everything longer is out of stock. Is a bit of tape around the end of the barrel enough to locate it properly? (I'm just asking these potentially stupid questions so I can try to do all the hop and barrel work in one go, rather than two. The heat is making me feel lazy)
  20. I thought as I picked this one up for a very reasonable price I might use the 'saving' to have a professional fettle it for me... so Cage Airsoft sprung to mind... do they have a good rep?
  21. Yeah it could definitely do with some improvement... Is that a straight swap or did you have to re-shim the gearbox? Does it need an 11.1v battery to drive it properly? I really don't want to open the gearbox, my tech'ing skills don't appear to be up to the job Oh, and I take it the inner barrel is 550mm? @ak2m4 - any idea when you'll have more stock?
  22. Ordered the rubber and nub... and also ordered a scope mount off AliExpress so I can go for the Black Hawk Down look. There aren't of these darned things anywhere I could find in the UK, so it'll probably take weeks to arrive... but it'll be cool. (But this gun is going to be HEAVY when it's got a sight on it too) Is it worth getting a ZCI inner barrel too?
  23. I've picked up a nice Cyma CM.032 M14 rifle from the classifieds. It's in great nick physically but it is chrono-ing a tiny bit on the low side (315fps with 0.20's) That's not an enormous issue, but the fact it's not wanting to hop 0.28's rather is. So I think I need to try a new hop rubber in there... but I've looked at the disassembly videos - they look a bit .... involved. Please give me some confidence I'm not going to bugger it up Any recommendations for a good hop rubber (and nub)? Also, the stock, being long and all-plastic, is a bit creaky at the front end... are there any easy fixes for that?
  24. I've made a full offer on an LVPO 1.25-5 scope, so I'm going to give it another go... it looks cool if nothing else (Hey @FruitNinja20, check your PM's when you've got stuff for sale ;))
  25. That's really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really disappointing.
