  1. I was saying in the context of taking on the US military, but fair point well made!
  2. Came back to this thread.. some good comments... That "price of freedom" does seem to sum it up, as we see it from this side of the pond... if there was a "QAnon against gun ownership", they'd be saying there was some deep-state conspiracy with a mass-hypnosis of the population into supporting the military-industrial complex blah blah blah. Perhaps that's what the NRA is The idea of the populace "rising against the military" just sounds so stupidly bonkers, doesn't it? Yeah, not much else than that finger click will fix the problem, thanks to the millions of guns already in circulation. 3D printing seems to a building threat too. Not so much for the few guns being made, but the willingness of non-criminals to go there, and indulge the idea of avoiding the law altogether in pursuit of their "rights". Oh America, where did it all go wrong?
  3. "Lest ye forget" Real Steel can be awful too...
  4. It's... On my "to do" list as it's close to MK and Special Ops is still not open. The games seen to be fairly infrequent there, but I had heard it was good. If you decide to make a trip, give me a shout and I'll come along too to say hello ?
  5. Working for me, but likewise I think it worked alright before.
  6. I've had this, it was a torn hop rubber, a flap of rubber was impinging on the bore and causing a second hop effect. Otherwise, it could be a misaligned barrel / hop unit, though I think that's unlikely given the way the barrels I've seen are put together.
  7. Sorry I'm kind of side-railing this thread, but... I was advised a long time ago that anything I could do to build up the muscle mass around my knees would be beneficial in preventing future injury - sounds like that's good advice then? The problem is at the time I worked at Santander which had a gym in the building. It's also had two machines which were absolutely perfect: one looked like a reclined bike, with one foot at a time used to lift a rotating pedal-like bar up against weight resistance. And there was another standing machine which developed kicking strength where the whole leg was used to kick against resistance. For a while I had great muscle definition and strength in both legs. And then I changed job. I've not seen these machines in any gym since, which has really pissed me off, tbqh. I might sign up to a local Pure Gym in the hope there's something that will do a similar job to those two gizmos.
  8. Contrast that sterling effort from Mr Chewer with me rocking up at Special Ops with one of those big blue plastic Ikea bags with three or four guns poking out, and a rucksack full of mags 'n' shit ;D
  9. I think I might be heading in the same direction in the near future... already diagnosed as arthritic L=Moderate, R=Severe. I play footy twice a week, and they'd been alright for a while, but recently the right knee is making crackling noises like a ball of cellophane being scrunched up, and every now and again feels like it's all trying to pop out of place, or just disintegrate like a wet sugar lump. Fun days! Is that anything like what you had? Anyway, best of luck, and I'll be keeping tabs on your progress...
  10. I saw a report they're using airsoft optics too (for those lucky enough to get a gun, and for it to be modern enough to have a rail on it) I'd guess an airsoft-quality optic won't hold zero, or even hold itself together, faced with real-steel recoil...? Or am I doing AliExpress etc down?
  11. I did write out a long spiel on the pro's and con's on this, but I had other stuff to do, so binned it. Here's the short version... Tippmann M4 v2. Upsides: Simplified HPA setup, nice bit of recoil - and loud with it - so great fun to shoot. Lets you use hi cap mags, if you like throwing plenty of plastic. Can be had for reasonable price on the used market. Downsides: Not a laser-beam like some other HPA setups. Still have to contend with HPA line + tank. Caveat: I've not skirmished my (used) example yet - had a problem with it chewing up the softer hop rubbers which isn't definitely resolved yet.
  12. @GothicGhost looking at those pics, I don't think you need bother! ?
  13. I was going to say "Light Brown", but I guess I'm too late.
  14. Ahah! The good ol' smash hit that was "Is This The Life", single of the week on BBC Radio 1 I shall enlighten you - Tim (Gawd bless 'im) referred to the mosh pit as the 'Pond' and we were all little fishes swimming in it.... so 'pondies'. If you've been to any Cardiacs gigs and bounced around in the mosh pit, you'll perhaps have bounced off me at some point! I was an active member on the Cardiacs chat list for most of its existence, and funnily enough the Tuvan throat singing was a very popular thing for a while. It's pretty damned cool, though I never really got into it.. bits of it give me some Dead Can Dance vibes (I was well into them for a while)
  15. Mr Chewer, I didn't get around to asking how you know of (the rather niche) Cardiacs? Are you now, or have you ever been a 'pondie'?
  16. I think it's got a recoil system, and is allegedly long ranged and accurate. I was impressed when I watched videos about the guns, but that was a while ago now. So my question mark was genuine, in that I don't know if it's actually a good system or not
  17. As an actual sensible answer... are the GBLS DAS guns "contenders"? https://www.defconairsoft.co.uk/product/gbls-das-gdr-15-m4-aeg-hybrid-cqb/
  18. It's definitely this, isn't it?
  19. .. or .. buy another cheap sight and get a sight protector from Red Dot Engineering on eBay. Quite a few of us use them, for a tenner each they're very good. I've got one of them on all my recent purchases. (On my older kit I bought polycarb discs and wedged 'em in, but the RDE solutions are much better)
  20. You might find my thread useful... to cut the very long story short I changed the spring, nub, and hop - but not the barrel - and I got a settled velocity, but only a small improvement in accuracy. But the accuracy wasn't bad anyway. Maybe I'll get that ZCI barrel, but my last skirmishes with the gun have been excellent (I was getting hits with some speculative shots that I though were out of range) so I don't particularly feel the need to change it at the moment.
  21. FTFY @EDcase Personally I've bought a few parts of my kit three times over, but I do have a bit of a reputation (well deserved) for trawling through the Bargain Bins in the hope of finding something "good enough". Ehhhh, sometimes it works, but often it doesn't. Just try not to make expensive mistakes that you can't sell on (or quietly hide in the loft!)
  22. The Warheads are £85+ aren't they? I'll be better off spending that money on fixing my other guns... so I'll leave mine alone - having a toasty motor will save me a few quid on those chemical hand-warmers through the winter
  23. Hah! I'll have you know I do NOT sleep with my M906C, I sleep with my recently acquired Cyma M14, as an homage to Kubrick's FMJ! And so I can do the Rifleman's Creed properly. So there! I must admit the last time I had a plinking session with mine the motor temp got quite toasty too. Maybe it's because I'm usually running around with gloves on, firing short bursts in a more tactical way, that I hadn't noticed it before. So maybe it always been prone to that.. or maybe something is out of whack? I'm using an 11.1v battery which is against the recommendation of course. I'll be interested to hear how you get on with your motor change!
