  1. I was watching a programme the other day about a shooting in Luton.... the guy had bought several starter pistols, which were two tone in colour and bored out the barrels, then sprayed the slides black. Shot a guy in the chest and went on a rampage. I don’t think two toning a gun is the way forward. If he hadn’t of sprayed the slide he’d still have had a lethal barrelled weapon capable of discharging a round which was blue in colour 🤷🏻‍♂️

Link to the stock here for your convenience. Worth noting there are replicas of the stocks available from various airsoft companies, for the generally not huge difference in price I'd likely be inclined to go for the one I've linked but just wanted to mention there are cheaper alternatives. And link to the slim grips here, again I imagine there are cheaper replicas available. I just happened to have the links buried in a folder somewhere from when I was toying with doing something similar, of which sourcing the upper receiver ended up being the deal breaker. I wish you luck if you hope to see it through :)

Thank you that’s really helpful! I’ll give it a go and see where I get

The main thing you'll struggle with is finding a matching/close enough upper receiver complete with carry handle. If you can tick that box the rest should be relatively simple. Brownells do a Car stock which is manufacturer by B5 Systems (which means it's probably very good quality), may as well order the slim handguards from there while you're at it. Then it's just a question of how accurate you care to be with the gizmo's you attach to it.

Awesome thank you. I don’t care to be dead accurate with it.... I’m not that into recreations but a similar look would be good 👍🏻 BHD is one of my fav movies and thought it’d be cool to rock an old school version, bit of a change from all the keymod and MLok stuff people are using

  4. Has anybody ever recreated the “Gordon Rifle” CAR-15 from Black Hawk Down? I really like the look and wanted to give it a go. Seems simple enough but wondered if there were any examples knocking about 😊

3 days without an MWS post!? 😳

    This will not do!

I was always on the fence about painting this rifle, but after fitting the battered and bruised 551 I knew the unmarked black paintwork looked out of place!

So after a bit of time with some khaki Krylon and thinners this is the end result.

It's not easy to replicate something that would normally occur naturally but I'm happy with the end result.

Although it's hard knowing when to stop! The beauty of this though as it's very easy to go back over it and amend anything you don't like.

All it needs now is a suitably weathered weapon light and laser unit.

Looks awesome 👍🏻 You’ve got the weathered look spot on

For any new painters on here.. Depending on what effect you want. You have some final steps after the paint goes on.

A nice clean painted work of art OR a painted working tool that will show its wear and make you feel like a dirty operator.

    Art

First give it a rub over with some very fine wirewool or wetdry paper ( Go super lite on this ). This will flatten the paint and make it look lovely.
Then a matte or satin clear coat ( obviously the satin will be more shiny than matte ).

Take some photos and know you are an artist.

    Dirty operator

    Just keep growing your beard

Definitely the dirty operator look!..... I may have to resort to a stick on joke shop beard however 😉

I wouldn't use T-Rex Arms as a good painting example!

I watched his YouTube video out of curiosity and have never seen anyone hold a rattle can an inch away from what they intend to paint and just spray away without a care in the world! 😂

It didn't do my OCD any good, but then again I regularly paint using 2K with a proper spray gun, in a paint booth at work so my opinion is a little biased...

Not so much a good example just more of a basic guide...... rest assured the can was over 15cms away from the gun...... I haven’t got a paint studio so the garden and a clothes line did me fine haha

Yeah this is the method I was going to use, saw it on T.Rex arms. Love the pattern effect on yours.

Thank you. Yeah I used the t-Rex arms video as a guide and also Garrand Thumbs design for the paint job. Really easy to do, spray it in alternating stripes of tan and brown, then lay some mesh over the top and spray the tan part with brown and the brown part with tan and voila! Snake skin type pattern

Yeah reminds me of some old COD 4 paint job on a classic M4.

Do you take the inner barrel out when you pain? I am thinking of leaving everything assembled and just taping off like you said. Got to get that gap between the two receivers tho? Hmmm I shall find a painting thread

I painted my MWS a couple of months ago. I separated the upper and lower and then taped off the gaps on the inside, closed the dust cover, taped off the trigger and the end of the charging handle to prevent any paint/spray getting in the inside of the gun, then put the two pieces back together. I too kept the inner barrel in and just taped off the muzzle device which worked. Just tape off anywhere you think it’ll get into the inner workings of the gun. Hope that helps!

Bada bing has a video where he disassembles his ags and he says he doesn't think you will get one on. But that isn't 100% as he didn't actually try it.

Thanks bud, will have a look at the video. I am not massively technical so if he says you can’t then I won’t be trying it, not with the price and shortage of mags at the moment haha

  11. I’m not sure if it’s been mentioned in the previous posts but has anybody had any luck fitting those ranger style plates to the bottom of the MWS mags? They look like they would fit but would cover up the fill valve

Good job done fella. Looks great👍

Thanks chaps, I’d sprayed an old AEG before but not something as expensive or that I liked as much as my MWS so was apprehensive. I agree though they definitely look better sprayed!

Is this the famous bucking everyone is larking on about. The package doesn’t say MWS so wanted to be sure. Part number is GB-05-62

Yes that’s the one modify tan coloured bucking. That’s the one I’ve got having been recommended it on this thread 👍🏻

Hao kit coming in today MWS is about 3-4 days out then I'll have 8 mags to fiddle with lol 3 prowin 50-55r, 4 saa pmag 35-39r, and the OG TM 30 mag but I'll only ever need to carry 6-7 and being able to edit the loadout like having the 50's for CQC/covering fire or swapping to the front pouches after clearing a mag is nice and picked up a new stock and grip.

I like the look of the stock. Is that how it comes are did you put the paracord on there yourself?

Hop adjustment question guys. When looking at the hop through the mag well with the barrel pointing to the left  to increase the hop you turn the wheel in the opposite direction ie towards the right towards the stock end yeah ?

Yeah towards the stock end for applying hop and towards the barrel for reducing..... I had to etch a little arrow on the inside of the receiver to remind me 😂

    Hey,

did anyone try the G&P roller bolt end? It’s quite expensive for a wheeled bolt end ... but all rifles with it give off such a satisfying sound.

Also - G&P has a buffertube with the selling point of holes for exhausting air / gases. Could someone explain to me how this would be beneficial or whether it’s just a gimmick?

Haven’t tried it, what is it designed to do and how does it change the noise?

Welcome matey.... and greetings too from the city of roundabouts and concrete cows ;)

My local is also Finny and recently as of 2 weeks back I played a game at the Grange in Solihull... a smaller site capped at only 30 players but still very good fun... Next game at Finny is this Sunday..... I'll be taking the MWS out for a spin for the first time too.... If you're going hit me up...

Thanks for the warm welcome folks!

Alphabear I can’t come to finny this weekend unfortunately. Next game day I’m going is next Wednesday at Sentinel Outpost for an evening game which should be fun! I’m sure I’ll bump into you at Finmere as hoping to go next month
