  1. i have supports for my knee and back, but try to avoid using them unless absolutely necessary (mainly when lifting heavy shit at work) never thought of deep heat, so will get some to try out. definately agree on the weight front, and while im not a whale, i could do with losing a bit of weight. and i also have zero will power... its why i splashed out on a VFC M249, and am looking at another expensive pew on preorder... doesnt help that christmas is fast approaching.... and so no doubt my belt will have to bee loosened by a notch before i try (and probably fail) to lose weight as a new years resolution
  2. i think we have that in common. back constantly aches just standing/walking most days. i can get through game days, but sometimes my back does complain, especially if i run my tippmann due to the HPA tank. one reason why im slowly phasing out the tippmann. i also recently injured my knee at work, but that seems to be healing (famous last words) also cracked a few ribs several years ago in an accident at work, and they ache constantly, but get worse in the cold. additionaly, i also had a bout of pleurisy after cracking my ribs, so i am always cautious to wrap up warm in cold weather as i never want to go through that again (and my doctor tells me i may be susceptible to relapses for life) yeah.. definately doing something wrong there... XD
  3. I probably won't, partly due to the extra weight, but also the cost..
  4. i was debating fitting a real bullet belt, but im worried that its extra weight may cause further issues with the box mag gas connector popping out, or break the "wiggler" do you have pics of this mod? i may need to do the same to mine, but i am also reluctant to do anything too invasive where abouts are you playing?
  5. finally managed to get out to play again after a couple of months due to various circumstances, and booked in at RIFT REDCON-2. got to site and got booked in early made sure i was at chrono early in order to set up my VFC M249 (having fitted an adjustable velocity valve in the nozzle, it needed dialling in... due to the cold temperatures i was only able to get 0.7J out of the gun, but once the temperatures rose, i rechronoed and was getting 1.1J) then off for a cup of tea to warm up, chat with friends i haven't seen for a while and then load up for briefing and team assignment. i ended up on red team first half of the day was a 2 hour total war, with red team having to secure "data recorders" and the blue team needing to capture laptops and each team having use of a "snatch" Land Rover driven by a marshall that we could direct where we wanted it to go. i decided i would board the land rover and after conferring with the marshall/driver and the others who decided to board as well, we decided the best option was to use the land rover to take our fireteam to the opposite side of the land in a snatch and grab before the enemy team could reach the data recorders and lock them down. we were successful in seizing the objectives and returning them to our respawn before heading off for a second set of data recorders at the top of the land which were captured, but i got shot out before the objectives were secured and had to walk back to respawn, where i realised my red dot had been shot out. on our way out to both objectives i had been operating as top gunner and managed to keep the enemy's heads down, and i believe i managed to get 2 or 3 kills on our way out to the second objective (having not seen a soul to and from the first objective) before being hit and had to be replaced as top gunner while i got mediced by one of the rest of the fireteam. definitely a fun experience, though next time i will probably run smaller weapons, as the M249 with the box mag gas tank coupled with the high roof of the land rover meant i had to stand on the front pair of seats to get a decent aim and not appear to be blind firing out the roof hatch the rest of the morning was spent moving between different firefights trying to provide support as best as i could, before needing to duck out for 20 mins to reload mags and grab a drink from my car and then returning for the last 30 mins of game time, where i also decided to drop down to my GBB Skorpion to enable me to move through one of the CQB areas much easier. lunch break was spent tinkering with my guns, reloading mags, chatting and browsing the onsite shop before back out for the afternoon which consisted of two 50 min games where attackers had to activate beacons at set locations then defend them for as long as possible while defenders had to turn them off. first game red team was attacking and i joined the attack on one location, got shot out and by the time i returned we had captured the location, so a group of us headed to the next location thinking it was going to be a tough nut to crack. the location was a fenced compound with only one gate as entry and the inside of the fence had an earth bank with tall bushes running around the inside edge which made getting a look inside impossible. this, combined with the fact it was close to the blue team respawn meant that a group of us spent almost 10 mins sneaking around the fence line and ducking down whenever we saw movement ahead and praying we didnt get spotted all while listening to the voices of the players inside the objective compound. we finally reached the gate and were about to launch a massive assault, only for one of the group to take a peek and realise that the voices from the compound belonged to a group of fellow red team who had already captured the objective and were holding it. having seen a large group of blues heading back to their spawn half of us decided to hang around with the other defenders in case blues should try and swarm us, but no one appeared after a quick break to rearm, the game was reversed and blue team became the attackers. this game i definately felt i was spending more time walking back to respawn compared to the other games, but i was able to set a good ambush on a group of enemies. while moving through the bushes between respawn and one of the heavily contested areas i heard voices approaching and i ducked behind a bush on top of a small ridge and waited for the voices to get nearer, and they turned out to be a blue patrol trying to flank the red team attacking from their rear. from my position i was mostly hidden and able to fire through a small gap in the bushes, and took out all 5 of the enemy players with a few bursts from the 249, while the few shots in return all missed wildly or were caught by the branches of the bush. staying in the position i was then able to take out two more enemies that came out to try and medic the patrol before i heard my team mates moving up again and i decided to join the assault, where i got shot out. by the time i had respawned and begun heading back to the fight, the game was over. definitely enjoyed myself, and i hope to be able to get out more regularly in the near future
  6. Ran mine today too. Got the adjustable valve sorted and it is now firing 1.1j on .28 and VORSK V8 gas (chronoed 0.7j this morning when it was cold, rechronoed at lunch when it warmed up.) Definately need to get some small hand warmers to put in with the tank to help keep it warmer. I did have a few issues with mine today. First I had my red dot shot out 10 mins into the first game. Then throughout the day I found the gas tank connector kept popping out the reciever as I was firing. I was able to pop it back in, but it was really annoying I also broke one of the screws in the clamp for the gas tank (easily fixable) On the plus side though, I got a lot of good kills with it. I managed to take out several enemy players as top gunner on a snatch land rover as it picked its way across the land from our respawn point to one of the objectives on the far side of the land (a bumpy ride, and not very easy to get a decent aim with the fixed stock... I definately need the Para stock) Later I also managed to lay ambush to a small enemy patrol. I heard their voices, so I ducked into a hedgerow to wait for them to approach. When they moved into view, I was able to get all four members of the patrol in one long burst. I had several people complimenting the smoke generator suppressor I have fitted, and had one of the members of the patrol that I ambushed speak to me after the game saying he suspected it was me who got them due to the unique sound of the gun firing and admitted to spending the rest of the game hoping to hunt me down and shoot me with his MOSCART launcher. We had a good laugh, shook hands and I allowed him to have a try with the gun before I unloaded it.
  7. agreed. though having said that i do have an HPA rifle (Tippmann M4V2) but having snagged airlines so many times, among other issues, i am in no rush to add any more HPA guns to my armoury any time soon
  8. i usually play once a month, occasionally twice a month, but occasionally need to take a break due to other commitments, especially since i became an uncle last year. nothing wrong with the Osprey.. i have mine as my main rig (though i have removed the brassards and collar) looking for a more lightweight option to use with the M249 as in the gunner role, i wont need to carry as much kit 36 at last count, at least 7 of which have never left the house, and 3 more have never been fired "in anger"
  9. sorry, i should edit for clarity... im currently using .28s to bed in the 249, and i want to use .3s or .32s once its bedded in
  10. damn, beat me to it.. I saw this video last night, but didn't get round to posting it here. I will probably only do the nozzle spring mod to my one, as improved accuracy is never a bad thing, and i may also add the washers in the bolt carrier. i definitely wont be HPAing my one though, nor will i be doing the AEG box mag conversion. still need to get out to a site and set up the adjustable nozzle valve i fitted last month (only been to one game since then and it was a CQB site, so i dont think an M249 would be very welcome there XD)
  11. as the title implies, i am looking for a source of heavyweight, high quality tracer BBs (.30g and above). every site i have looked at seems to only list .2, .25 and .28. i mainly use .32 in my main rifle (Tippmann M4v2) and am looking to use heavier ammo than the .28s i currently use in my VFC M249 once the hop has had a chance to bed in
  12. Oh yeah, it's fine to use in the safe zone on a table, but out on the field between games, it's a pain... so an adapter is definately needed
  13. Currently using .28s, but will probably try switching to .30 or .32 when they run out. I also load my mags to give 5 tracer BBs to every 20 normal BBs, loading each mag to the 175 mark. Hoping someone can make a 3d printed adapter to fit on a my G&G speed loader, as the supplies speedloader is a pain to use, and the adapter won't fit without a lot of messing about.
  14. I have one of those suppressors as well and it is indeed cool. I have mine fitted on my VFC M249. I have fitted a tracer into my one by removing the front cap and replacing it with the front cap of a boneyard Spitfire tracer, then fitting an acetech brighter R (with rear cap removed and some tape to centralise the tracer unit) in the space where the spring normally sits behind the generator. With regards to the fluid, I have read that you can make your own using distilled water and vegetable glycerine, but I have yet to try it myself. (Or the same fluid for model trains/tanks should work) Used it at AWA Herts the other week, and the combination of GBB M249 and smoke generator suppressor definately drew a lot of attention Only issue I had with the website was the tracking number for my order. Initial tracking number didn't work, but I got an email with a new tracking number that did work. Within a couple of weeks of ordering, I had it in my hands, and no hassle with customs
  15. Quick pics on my living room floor (rug needs a hoover. Got to buy new hoover after motor burned out) Got a Theta Optics red dot on top, and a smoke generator suppressor on the front, with an Acetech Brighter R tracer unit fitted behind the smoke generator. Had to modify the suppressor by replacing the original fore end cap with one from a boneyard Spitfire tracer to give the needed clearance, plus removing the rear cap of the Acetech in order to fit the tracer unit in the suppressor casing. Gives an impressive effect, and certainly turns heads at sites. Don't have a video of the smoke effect... closest I have is an action shot from a game day after firing, as the smoke is being dissipated by the breeze Just looked. Out of stock
  16. Nice, currently looking for one myself, preferably UK based given my ongoing struggles with border force. And I forgot to upload a pic of my beast as I said I would... Will dig it out tonight when I get home from work
  17. Got my one done last night, pin was just bloody tight in the nozzle. Now to charge my chrono and see if it will work so I can dial in the valve to my preferred Vorsk V6 gas
  18. @1st commando have you got round to fitting the adjustable valve to your one yet? Asking as I'm currently stripping my one down to fit the part (as well as clean and lube the workings) and i just wanted to check if the retaining pin for the nozzle return spring needs to come out one direction rather than the other. Don't want to force it the wrong way and break the nozzle assembly
  19. Give it a few days. I have emailed VFC about parts to replace the bits that border force broke, and it usually takes an average of 4 days to get a reply
  20. Ran mine today at AWA Herts. Got a few kills with it, though I'm still dialing in the hop so accuracy isn't perfect yet. I had a small issue in the middle of the first game where the gun decided it didn't want to work with a mag inserted, but would dry fire without a mag hapilly, so I dropped to my tippmann for game 2 then had a look at the 249 over lunch. Turned out the square block on the recoil spring was sat askew because the cross pin had worked its way to one side. Easy fix, just used a pistol mag to tap the pin central and the gun worked flawlessly all afternoon (I also gave the workings a wipe off and reapplied clean silicone gun oil and gun grease). I will be applying some loctite or similar to the pin when I strip the gun down again to hopefully prevent a repeat occurrence. Filled the box mag with an entire can of green gas and that lasted me easily 8 mags filled to 175 plus a couple of half mags (I was refilling all mags to full between games so didnt keep an exact count) I also have a smoke generator suppressor fitted to the end of the barrel that I have also fitted an acetech brighter R tracer unit into, and the combination drew a lot of admiring looks from both teams and even the marshals (I will upload some pics once I have sorted dinner and unloaded the car) Also had the adjustable nozzle arrive yesterday, so that will also be fitted at next strip down
  21. Just want to make certain... is this the part you mean? https://gbbparts.myshopify.com/products/cl-project-design-adjustable-floating-valve-for-vfc-gbb-rifle?_pos=1&_sid=8f11af9c1&_ss=r
  22. Didnt know there was an adjustable nozzle for the 249. Do you have a link to where I can get one myself?
  23. Ran my one today for the first time, after hearing back from SWIT airsoft that they are going to order replacement parts for the bits that border force broke, rather than requiring me to ship the gun back to them as I thought they might ask. Ran mine with the gas box mag, but found that the clip was rather tight and needed adjustment to allow the box to fit without forcing it on. Firing the gun drew quite a lot of admiring looks and compliments, particularly with the added features of a suppressor with a smoke generator and a tracer unit fitted. I will be stripping it down and giving it a good clean and lubrication over the next couple of days. One issue i do need to look at is perhaps replacing the nozzle as it was firing initially at 1.5j on .28s and VORSK gas. Regassed with nuprol 2.0 and fired a few mags through it and the power dropped down to just below the limit, and I rechronoed a couple of times through the day and it remained below the limit but too close for comfort. One other issue I need to work out... what's the best way to empy the gas tanks between game days? As unlike a standard mag, there's no release valve to manually vent the excess gas Not Had that issue with my one (yet), but it will be keeping an eye on it.
  24. also going to echo the comments above, reforger is a great site. last week we played in the village all morning, then moved to checkpoint charlie, runway and then finally heartbreak ridge on the map below (copied from their website). so there is still plenty of the site to explore. everyone was informed at the briefing that we would be out in the game area all day, returning at lunch time, so we were all given the option of putting a small bag with some spare ammo/gas etc into the boot of a land rover that followed us to the game areas to allow us to rearm quickly between games rather than walk back and forth from the safe zone each time. village is a relatively large grouping of buildings in the base of a ravine, so as mentioned above, getting onto the ridgeline offers a good vantage point. checkpoint charlie was where we played a kind of tug-of-war game, where each team had to push a flag toward the enemy respawn. personally i felt this area became too bogged down with everyone fighting over one main path for the flag, so i focussed on trying to flank around and take out enemies from the side as much as i could and ended up playing cat and mouse with the enemy snipers in the woods surrounding the path. the "runway" at this time of year has quite long grass growing across the field, so there is plenty of cover for anyone moving towards the objective at the crashed airplane. i didnt see much of the surrounding area as i had dug into a fox hole to defend the plane and didnt move around much. also didnt realise at the time that there were two downed planes on the site with only half the site explored on my visit, i will definately be returning in the near future in hopes of visiting the rest of the site.
