  1. Shiiiiiiitttttt..... My 88g cartridges arrive today... How much larger are they than the box? FFS... Are there any other sizes of CO2 cartridge readily available that don't cost a fortune? Are all threaded cartridges the same thread? And moving away from the Co2 hassle.... After fitting the para stock, I found the bottom pin (the one holding the rear of the trigger group and bottom of the stock together in the reciever) was extremely loose. I tried squeezing the square clip that sits over the reciever together, hoping it would apply more tension to the pin.... it instead snapped in half. Had to bodge it by fitting 2 "E" clips in the grooves on either end of the pin. Disassembly will be a pain in the arse now, but at least I won't lose the pin in the middle of a game now. I was hoping to try the gun on its new CO2 source this weekend, but if the cartridges will not fit, then i may be screwed =/
  2. duly noted and link saved. thanks for the heads up
  3. yeah, the para stock is a worth while mod... as for the CO2 mag, so far i can only comment on visuals as i havent got any 88g CO2 cartridges to try it out. got some arriving mid week, so i will try it out next weekend and yeah, i only got the invoice after i got the notification it cleared customs.... and im expecting another invoice for a second parcel on the way from Evike with a new outer barrel for my john wick hicapa.... which i had to fill out another firearms declaration form for...
  4. And here's a pic of the haul... Set of spare mags Co2 box mag Spare end plate for my green gas box mag And para stock
  5. Local shops do have a nasty habit of knowing how to encourage us to buy more toys than we went in to buy.. XD Double post from the VFC M249 thread... but first parcel finally delivered by UPS... - set of 3 spare mags, - Para stock - Spare end plate for green power supply gas box mag - And the new CO2 power supply box mag All from WGC shop. Also ordered some 88g co2 cartridges from Ebay, so hopefully next weekend I will get a chance to try the gun out at a site and see how the CO2 power supply works out
  6. Well, after getting invoiced £75 in customs and brokerage fees, the parcel arrived yesterday lunchtime... but at least this time the customs monkeys managed to inspect the contents without breaking anything
  7. Yeah, i had a phone call yesterday to ask for my email address to send a RIF declaration form. Filled it out and photographed the form (as I don't have a scanner) and sent it back to the address it was sent from. As I had also ordered a stock, set of mags and box mag end plate along with the CO2 box mag, I clarified that the parts were to repair and upgrade the RIF in my possession. (I have a mag that seem to be temperamental with feeding, the end plate on my green gas box mag has split and I want to swap the stock for the para one) Sent with an email saying "I hope this meets your requirements and I hope to recieve the parcel promptly" (rough translation "I have jumped through your hoop, now give me my stuff") Got an email back earlier this afternoon asking "so this will be repaired in the UK then sent back to the shipper, correct?" Just replied with a blunt "NO, it will be repaired and used for airsoft in the UK. I am a registered UKARA player" then gave them my UKARA number. I'm honestly considering driving to Castle Donnington to demand the parcel in person if this kind of smooth brain behaviour continues
  8. Went out to RIFT the battery yesterday, and had another awesome day, despite the heat and humidity, so I was grateful for the short games with breaks in between. As I had finally got the spare mags that were on back order arrive a few weeks ago, I decided to run my Krytac Kriss Vector as my main weapon, with my TM Lycoris Recoil as a sidearm, with my KWA Beretta 93r coming out briefly for a game too. Got to site and got set up pretty quickly so I could have a go at setting the hop on the vector before chrono opened. Initially I started on red team, but got moved over to blue team in the afternoon along with a few others to rebalanced the teams after a few people dropped out, presumably due to the heat. Hit taking was excellent from what I saw, and there was plenty of good sportsmanship from both sides in calling trades and fist bumping or congratulating players for good shots etc. Ran into a couple of snags with my equipment on the day which now need sorting.. The first was my smoke generator suppressor. I noticed that the muzzle flash was inconsistent and the smoke generator was no longer producing smoke, despite the fan triggering, so I think it's now officially dead, which is annoying as it looked amazing on my other guns loke the VFC M249... so it was retired and I salvaged the Acetech Brighter-C tracer unit I had fitted into it to give it tracer function so that I could continue using tracer bbs (desperately needed in the dimly lit areas) And finally, I had a red dot I borrowed from another gun to put on the vector shot out, leaving me unable to see much through the broken glass. As I didn't have an allen key on me to remove it, I was forced to guestimate my shots from the tracers for most of a game before I was able to remove it during a break in the safe zone and resorting to iron sights for the rest of the day... so now I need a new red dot. All in all, it was a great day, and i hope to get to this site many more times before it gets redeveloped in a couple of years time.
  9. So that probably means I can expect the same Tracking shows my parcel.at castle Donnington too. And I have another on the way from evike... and they use UPS by default, so all in all, I am not too happy
  10. agreed... not holding my breath either.... and yes, my order is also being shipped by ups.. estimated to arrive monday
  11. You may get yours first... I also ordered a couple of other parts for a few guns, one was back ordered and so delayed the entire shipment... finally got posted today
  12. Sorry... not sorry... XD https://www.wgcshop.com/products/vfc-vf9-mag-m249c-bk01?_pos=1&_psq=Vfc+m249+co2&_ss=e&_v=1.0
  13. Bought a few things the past couple of weeks... Firstly, a new gun.... TTI TP22 pistol.. Also bought a maple leaf hop unit and modify inner barrel to give my EMG John Wick hicapa a well deserved overhaul and upgrade after several years of quite heavy use Next, I bought a double ammo pouch and "field pack" from my local army surplus shop. The double pouch just holds the cassette mags for my VFC M249, and the field pack will be used to replace the ammo grab bag I currently use to take gas and bb bottles to a respawn point, as the grab bag is a little too small for my needs Finally, i jave some bits on order from WGC shop, so no pics yet.... bought a para stock, pack of mags and a CO2 power source box mag for my VFC M249... pics will follow when the parcel arrives (assuming the customs monkeys don't fuck things up again)
  14. Mines stock. Cassette mags in top cover and running the green gas box mag.... That said though... I saw last night on WGC shop that they have the CO2 box mag in stock now, so I have ordered one along with the para stock... now I just need to bulk buy 88g CO2 capsules... Oh, and I still haven't got round to fitting the DnA catch yet.... so I know what I will be doing this weekend
  15. Was out in Athens the past week with my father for a memorial service for my great grandfather and the crew of his submarine, but I had a few days spare either side so in addition to the usual touristy bits, and needing a bit of an airsoft fix, I went out to Greek Airsoft in Achilleos for a bit of a browse and a chat (curious how greek airsoft compared to UK) and then, because i love more unusual things in airsoft.... I decided to buy myself some new gear in Greek Lizard camo...
  16. Have to say I have only ever had my one fail to go off twice, and both times I'm pretty certain it was a duff primer... That said, this was after I swapped the base. There was a recall on the original bases as they were solid blocks from the primer to the bottom of the base plate, and it was discovered that the flash from one primer could be redirected on the silver base plate and spread into the other chambers and set off multiple primers at once, so when you throw it again and it fails to go off, you think it's a shit grenade, when actually you just blew your whole load in one throw... If you have the solid base, get in contact with them directly and they should offer to swap your original base for a modified base that is machined out to prevent the flash from spreading as readily to other primers
  17. Question for the hive mind... i recently bought a tac vest on Ebay to complete my stargate cosplay in time for basingstoke comic con. It arrived 2 days before, so I didn't have much time to check it too closely, just adjusting it's fitment on the day. Once I got home though I noticed there is a steel cable tucked in to a flap at the front, then runs over the left shoulder in a channel and disappears under another flap at the rear Just wondering what the hell it's supposed to be https:/
  18. Reuploaded the image links, so they should work again
  19. Let's see of this will work now.... Some pics of my loot... Two posters, which I then got autographed and authenticated. Now I just need to get them framed... Almost everyone signed in black, but had a laugh with David Hewlett who asked what colour I would like his autograph done in, and I said I would leave it up to him to choose... so he went with gold and joked that it was in character for Rodney. Some screen-used props with certificates of authenticity... Group photo from Saturday with all the cast and me in SG1 gear (and my Tokyo Marui P90, then solo photo with Joe Flanigan from Sunday when I was in my "what if" cosplay And finally some pics of me posing in front of the stargate props on Sunday in my "what if" outfit. Unfortunately I didn't gey a chance to pose on Saturday in my SG1 outfit due to crowds and the significant delays with the autograph lines, which I'm pretty annoyed about, but oh well.... Ah, we did meet briefly on the Friday, and I did look at the collector cards, and I was tempted. It's very possible I was the guy you thought... I was wearing a Sabaton t-shirt and was weighed down with several bags containing mead I had bought that day as I was heading back to the car. Lol. Luck you XD Yep... =P
  20. Also dressed up as SG1 on Saturday, but then because the Atlantis costume i ordered got stuck in customs, on the sunday i did an alt universe "what if?" Cosplay to represent what it could look like if the stargate was never sent to the US, and SG1 were British Commandos instead. Both outfits were complimented by some of my airsoft RIFs.... and before anyone makes a fuss, they were all disarmed and unloaded, I checked with the head of security and 2 of the con supervisors on the Friday, who all gave the OK after i explained exactly what i wanted to do and use them for, then checked in with security saturday and sunday to demonstrate they were safe and unloaded, and then made a concious effort to stay inside the venue and away from any window or door that faced outside of the hotel where the con was held. Unfortunately the same could not be said of a couple of other cosplayers, who aparrantly decided to leave the lobby of the hotel with their cosplay weapons on them and walk up the entrance road to a little compound containing a bunch of vendors in marquees... and got spotted by Joe public who phoned police and resulted in an armed unit arriving at the con, and said cosplayers being asked to leave by security after the armed response was stood down.... but as I stayed well out of sight I only heard about this through second-hand information and did not witness it directly. Also got complimented by head of security at the end of Sunday for being concious enough to check in with them each day, and thanked for being sensible where others had not been. But back to the con itself... Friday was pretty quiet, with not much going on, so I was able to mooch around the vendors in all areas (dressed in t-shirt and jeans) to get my spending out the way early. I bought a few screen used props, including a "one line schedule" for the very first episode that was signed by the late Don S Davies (General Hammond). Saturday turned into quite a shitshow in the autograph area. Queues were initially separated into day pass holders, who had to line up through a barrier maze like at airport security, while accessibility and VIP pass holders (like myself) lined up around the outside of them to get priority access... but then more day pass holders were let through ahead of VIP passes, people opened up barriers in the zig-zag to jump the line, and then there was a traffic jam where no one moved for almost an hour... byvwhichbtime some of the stars had to leave for other scheduled events such as photo ops and meet-and-greets, so many, many people were getting very angry at missing out.. and even some of the stars were getting pretty annoyed (in particular, i overheard David Hewlett aka Rodney McKay getting rather annoyed). Somehow I managed to get all but 4 autographs on my stargate posters on Saturday, but missed out on one of the stargate stage panel Q&A sessions. Have to take my hat off to Richard Dean Anderson though, he was signing late in the day, and made it clear to staff he was not leaving until everyone in the line waiting had got his autograph.... I heard he was still signing at 10pm... and then he did the same again on Sunday as they were beginning to dismantle the convention around him (other stars did similar things, but RDA went above and beyond in my view) At the end of the evening I hung around the after party, which included a set DJ'ed by Kristian Nairn who was also one of thebguests for "Our Flag Maens Death", another group that was being hosted by the convention. Other bonus points from Saturday.. 1. I sat down for the "ultimate stargate photo" with all the stars, sat between RDA and Jason Momoa... and both complimented me on my costume. And when I pointed out it was a last minute purchase as the original I had ordered got stained when I spilled bleach on it by accident, RDA said he still loved it. 2. I got a hug off Amanda Tapping (Samantha Carter).... a brief one, but a hug none the less 3. Due to the traffic jam in the autograph line, I got to have a brief and nerdy chat with Joe Flanigan (Col. John Sheppard) about WW2 fighter aircraft. He had initially mis-spoke and called the P90 I was carrying a P40, but then corrected and wondered aloud why he was thinking of the P40... and so our little chat began, but only for a couple of minutes before the line moved on 4. Brad wright (The shows creator) saw my TM P90 and joked how intimidating I looked, and how realistic it looked. After I told him it was an airsoft replica, I passed it to him to look at, and he fiddled with it for a moment and held it in the aim before handing it back to me and saying "very nice". By that point my brain was too fried from the heat, and I seriously regret not asking for a pic of him holding it... but such is life Sunday ran a whole lot better, as the staff had Rearranged the queuing barriers in the signing area so people had to line up for each table, split into two lines for day pass and VIPs at each table, and a staff member on each line controlling the flow, rather than Saturdays effort of "everyone starts with one star and then moves down the row of tables one by one..." but with onlyvone person trying to manage all the crowd at once. Managed to get the last few autographs, and also a photo op with Joe Flanigan and a meet-and-greet with David Nykl (Doctor Zelenka), before catching the massive stargate panel tonwrap up the day. Over the course of the event, I had many people asking me about the costume, particularly my airsoft weapons, and so I was happy to answer their questions and talk about airsoft, and I even had 3 people say they had never heard of airsoft before, but would be looking into trying it out if they had a local field. i also had several people ask for a picture and I even had one person doing a university PHD study want to interview me for part of his thesis about how roleplay in Cosplay and LARP can be "commodified or assist in exercising political awareness in fan spaces" and they had not considered airsoft, so would like to get my take on it from an airsoft, rather than a cosplay perspective. All in all, the positives outweighed the negatives, but I will be cautious about attending the basingstoke comic-con next year, especially if they get as many huge stars in one place at the same time, as it made for an extremely busy and sometimes chaotic event.

  22. Simple... I wasn't out airsofting this weekend, but was at basingstoke comic-con and got to meet the majority of the stargate cast. But to avoid derailing this thread too much.. I will create a seperate one...
  23. A bit late, but I want to thank everyone for their inputs... and also apologise for how long it has taken me to say so, but for some reason I didn't get notified of any replies until now... Looks like I need to be on the lookout for a VFC.
  24. im glad i got it on tape too.. definately a good chuckle... plus no one believes me when i describe what happened XD definately good sportsmanship from the blue player. and thanks, i was worried as it was the first time i used the camera. normally my helmet has a visor clipped into the night vision mount (and lower face shield attached underneath) so i was winging it TBH
