  1. Also dressed up as SG1 on Saturday, but then because the Atlantis costume i ordered got stuck in customs, on the sunday i did an alt universe "what if?" Cosplay to represent what it could look like if the stargate was never sent to the US, and SG1 were British Commandos instead. Both outfits were complimented by some of my airsoft RIFs.... and before anyone makes a fuss, they were all disarmed and unloaded, I checked with the head of security and 2 of the con supervisors on the Friday, who all gave the OK after i explained exactly what i wanted to do and use them for, then checked in with security saturday and sunday to demonstrate they were safe and unloaded, and then made a concious effort to stay inside the venue and away from any window or door that faced outside of the hotel where the con was held. Unfortunately the same could not be said of a couple of other cosplayers, who aparrantly decided to leave the lobby of the hotel with their cosplay weapons on them and walk up the entrance road to a little compound containing a bunch of vendors in marquees... and got spotted by Joe public who phoned police and resulted in an armed unit arriving at the con, and said cosplayers being asked to leave by security after the armed response was stood down.... but as I stayed well out of sight I only heard about this through second-hand information and did not witness it directly. Also got complimented by head of security at the end of Sunday for being concious enough to check in with them each day, and thanked for being sensible where others had not been. But back to the con itself... Friday was pretty quiet, with not much going on, so I was able to mooch around the vendors in all areas (dressed in t-shirt and jeans) to get my spending out the way early. I bought a few screen used props, including a "one line schedule" for the very first episode that was signed by the late Don S Davies (General Hammond). Saturday turned into quite a shitshow in the autograph area. Queues were initially separated into day pass holders, who had to line up through a barrier maze like at airport security, while accessibility and VIP pass holders (like myself) lined up around the outside of them to get priority access... but then more day pass holders were let through ahead of VIP passes, people opened up barriers in the zig-zag to jump the line, and then there was a traffic jam where no one moved for almost an hour... byvwhichbtime some of the stars had to leave for other scheduled events such as photo ops and meet-and-greets, so many, many people were getting very angry at missing out.. and even some of the stars were getting pretty annoyed (in particular, i overheard David Hewlett aka Rodney McKay getting rather annoyed). Somehow I managed to get all but 4 autographs on my stargate posters on Saturday, but missed out on one of the stargate stage panel Q&A sessions. Have to take my hat off to Richard Dean Anderson though, he was signing late in the day, and made it clear to staff he was not leaving until everyone in the line waiting had got his autograph.... I heard he was still signing at 10pm... and then he did the same again on Sunday as they were beginning to dismantle the convention around him (other stars did similar things, but RDA went above and beyond in my view) At the end of the evening I hung around the after party, which included a set DJ'ed by Kristian Nairn who was also one of thebguests for "Our Flag Maens Death", another group that was being hosted by the convention. Other bonus points from Saturday.. 1. I sat down for the "ultimate stargate photo" with all the stars, sat between RDA and Jason Momoa... and both complimented me on my costume. And when I pointed out it was a last minute purchase as the original I had ordered got stained when I spilled bleach on it by accident, RDA said he still loved it. 2. I got a hug off Amanda Tapping (Samantha Carter).... a brief one, but a hug none the less 3. Due to the traffic jam in the autograph line, I got to have a brief and nerdy chat with Joe Flanigan (Col. John Sheppard) about WW2 fighter aircraft. He had initially mis-spoke and called the P90 I was carrying a P40, but then corrected and wondered aloud why he was thinking of the P40... and so our little chat began, but only for a couple of minutes before the line moved on 4. Brad wright (The shows creator) saw my TM P90 and joked how intimidating I looked, and how realistic it looked. After I told him it was an airsoft replica, I passed it to him to look at, and he fiddled with it for a moment and held it in the aim before handing it back to me and saying "very nice". By that point my brain was too fried from the heat, and I seriously regret not asking for a pic of him holding it... but such is life Sunday ran a whole lot better, as the staff had Rearranged the queuing barriers in the signing area so people had to line up for each table, split into two lines for day pass and VIPs at each table, and a staff member on each line controlling the flow, rather than Saturdays effort of "everyone starts with one star and then moves down the row of tables one by one..." but with onlyvone person trying to manage all the crowd at once. Managed to get the last few autographs, and also a photo op with Joe Flanigan and a meet-and-greet with David Nykl (Doctor Zelenka), before catching the massive stargate panel tonwrap up the day. Over the course of the event, I had many people asking me about the costume, particularly my airsoft weapons, and so I was happy to answer their questions and talk about airsoft, and I even had 3 people say they had never heard of airsoft before, but would be looking into trying it out if they had a local field. i also had several people ask for a picture and I even had one person doing a university PHD study want to interview me for part of his thesis about how roleplay in Cosplay and LARP can be "commodified or assist in exercising political awareness in fan spaces" and they had not considered airsoft, so would like to get my take on it from an airsoft, rather than a cosplay perspective. All in all, the positives outweighed the negatives, but I will be cautious about attending the basingstoke comic-con next year, especially if they get as many huge stars in one place at the same time, as it made for an extremely busy and sometimes chaotic event. Having trouble uploading photos at the moment... will try uploading again tomorrow after I finish night shift and am back at my computer...
  2. Simple... I wasn't out airsofting this weekend, but was at basingstoke comic-con and got to meet the majority of the stargate cast. But to avoid derailing this thread too much.. I will create a seperate one...
  3. A bit late, but I want to thank everyone for their inputs... and also apologise for how long it has taken me to say so, but for some reason I didn't get notified of any replies until now... Looks like I need to be on the lookout for a VFC.
  4. im glad i got it on tape too.. definately a good chuckle... plus no one believes me when i describe what happened XD definately good sportsmanship from the blue player. and thanks, i was worried as it was the first time i used the camera. normally my helmet has a visor clipped into the night vision mount (and lower face shield attached underneath) so i was winging it TBH
  5. i finally managed to make it to RIFTs newest site this weekend, The Battery. as i knew it was going to be a CQB site, i decided my primary weapons for the day were going to be my new KWA Beretta M93r, my KWA GBB Skorpion and my John Wick hicappa and TM Lycoris Recoil pistols as my backups (alternating between primary and secondary throughout the day) but i took a couple of long guns such as my Tippmann in case they were needed, but ended up sticking with the short guns all day. i had purchased a bunch of mags for the m93 through RIFTs own shop, White Sphere Tactical, and arranged to pick them up on site... so once signed in it was off to collect the mags, bring kit into the indoor safezone. standard fare for chrono, but due to the CQB, ammo weight was limited to .28g. first game was team balancer and found that blue team was overly powerful, so as a lone wolf i got swapped onto red team with a handful of other players to balance the teams a little more. game modes through the day were all 30 min games with quick breaks in between for reloading, which wasnt an issue due to the relatively small size of the site. game modes included capturing ammo cans to HQ, moving a gas cylinder "bomb" to three capture points and capturing flag points around the site. TBH, not knowing the site, i was more focussed on just getting kills for the first half of the day, but i did help out with the objectives later in the day once i got more familiar with the site and my new guns. one thing i really need to look into is how to mount tracer units on the skorpion and M93, as these would DEFINATELY have helped in the indoor sections. i did have a bit of an oopsie moment (which i managed to turn to a win)... at one point a blue player was hiding behind some corrugated steel barricades at the bottom end of one of the yards, so i decided to charge the location, laying down fire with the m93 to keep the enemys head down as i crossed the open spaces. as i moved, the m93 gassed out (i think i reloaded the mag, but forgot to gas it.. oops..) so i quickly took the m93 in my left hand and drew my JW hicappa as i reached the barricade... where i hit a patch of mud, slipped over, fell into the barricade and as i slid past the edge of the barricade, managed to snap 2 shots off at the blue player, taking him out... after getting helped up, quickly checking my gear and fist bumping the blue player, i decided to call myself out to go and check my injuries and thoroughly inspect the guns and fortunately found the barrels were clear, so i was soon back out. and i was running a gopro on my helmet for the first time, so i might have caught my little fall on tape... in the process of downloading the footage as i type this message, so i should know in a few minutes.... EDIT i did indeed capture the incident on tape... https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/u1nsfc6n375ex1rm5ynb2/oopsie.mp4?rlkey=2rwbhjnlc7tm7ecp69fuvh75f&st=1sdak9fk&dl=0
  6. My condolences for your loss. Try to focus on all the good times you had together
  7. Might be worth seeing if Airsoft World can price match Airsoft Direct...
  8. I appreciate the link. I did see that in my searches, but the 12 month turn around is off-putting to me... besides, I am trying to put something together for a stargate cosplay at basingstoke comic con next month... seeing as most of the SG1 and Atlantis cast will be there I was shocked to find the pistol so cheap compared to every other UK seller... but unless it's clearly stated, I always assume the price advertised is the full price and not deposit.. I hope you manage to get one, and enjoy it =)
  9. So.. I splashed a little more cash over the past few weeks. Firstly from Octagon airsoft, I bought a stock and some wooden handgrip for my Beretta M93r. Stock fits perfectly, though the right hand grip will need some work with a dremel to get it to fit and not interfere with the mechanism for the burst function of the pistol. Next I bought a low profile pistol red dot sight from my local air rifle range to fit less intrusive on the optic mount for the M93r (see pic attached for stock, optic mount, red dot and left side wooden hand grip fitted) Finally I bought two Tokyo marui limited edition Chisato handguns and some mags from airsoft direct (by far the cheapest I have seen them on sale in the UK) one will be purely for display to keep it pristine, while the other will get some limited use, mainly in CQB as backup to my Krytac Vector (when the back-ordered mags Finally arrive and if I can find a holster for it that won't damage the finish), to prolong its life Also looking at a tactical vest on ebay to complete a Stargate SG1 loadout. Trying to find an accurate, black blackhawk omega is impossible, so this vest would be more of a Stargate-inspired vest than a stitch-counter accurate version. Pics will be shared if I do decide to pull the trigger on the vest.. Oh, and also the usual boring consumables restock.. gas, BBs, CO2 bulbs.. and a can of Nuprol 1.0 for the new TM pistol..
  10. Nice to see another mateba owner here in the UK. I have two matebas of my own, but I have yet to field them yet (one is the 8mm ghost in the shell collector version, so will never leave the house, the other is 6mm calibre 5 inch barrel version, but I dont have a holster for it yet)
  11. Challenge completed... Bought an optic mount, ASG red dot (which is actually bigger than I thought it would be) and a double pistol case for My M93r from airsofteire Also ordered a stock and a set of wooden grips for it from Octagon airsoft... pics will be shared when they arrive from Hong Kong
  12. Just ordered a stock from octagon as well, along with a set of wooden grips Challenge accepted Depends which voice you are listening to at the time Haven't played battlefield 4, but I do remember it being in one of the old call of duty modern warfare games I just bought it because I like weird and unusual guns..
  13. Makes two of us.... Went to a game day at RIFT Redcon 2 last weekend and went browsing the onsite shop (white sphere tactical) looking for red dot sights and risers. I thought to myself "you don't need any more guns"..... that went out the window when I spotted this KWA Beretta m93r GBB, and my love of unusual and uncommon guns over ruled my better judgement... My wallet now hates me... Now I'm on the search for more mags and a folding stock for it once paycheck lands
  14. finally pushed myself to go to an outdoors game despite the relatively poor weather last weekend. but at least the weather seems to be improving, if only incrementally. the going was a bit tougher than usual due to the recent heavy rainfall turning many paths to mud i have played a few games in less than ideal weather, but my most memorable one was the first AI500 game at the Citatel in Dover. the saturday afternoon saw a severe rainstorm (almost a monsoon) blow in with high winds, everyone turned into drowned rats almost instantly, the high winds making it impossible to shoot between buildings as the wind simply blew everyones BBs for miles. game was eventually called early after the winds began blowing roof tiles off one of the cell block buildings. lots of people called it early and went home due to the poor weather, especially as the high winds caused havoc with the camp site, ripping many tents to shreds and soaking everyones kit, one poor group even had their tent blow away and land in the channel. fortunately i avoided that fate as i had got to site early enough that myself and a few others were able to set up tents in the lee of several buildings at a lower level, though the heavy rainfall was turning the grass area to mud. the site owners opened up some buildings near the campsite so everyone who wanted to stay could move inside and a group of us all set up our tents as an indoor camp and everyone hung their gear up to dry as best they were going to, given there was no heating in the building, and we all sat around in groups singing, cracking jokes, drinking whiskey, playing cards against humanity etc until well into the night sunday was a little uncomfortable due to having to wear still-wet kit, but those of us that stayed managed to soldier through until end-ex and i could switch into some dry civvy kit to drive home in.
  15. We use that one in England too... though not as freely as across the northern border But if I may interrupt the misfortune wishing for a moment... Just seen this on only airsofts FB page. I intend to attend, and hoping to share it around in hopes others will become aware and also join.. https://facebook.com/events/s/ollie-talks-airsoft-charity-ga/1570178923833657/
  16. Even worse.. he has uploaded another video... Reported again, but I wont hold my breath if youtube hasn't given him the banhammer for his previous spiteful videos
  17. Damn.. and just after I bought my G&G gas No.4... Still, if the quality is as good as the SMLE, it should do well... plus if the mags are the same, even better
  18. I had similar issues when my VFC M249 was imported. Castle Donnington seems to be the UPS equivalent of Royal Mails Langley mail centre at Heathrow, where they process parcels for customs duty etc I had contradictory tracking information like you for almost a week, then a customs duty invoice to pay before they would release the parcels, and then about another week of more contradictory tracking information before I got a failed delivery notification despite not getting an "out for delivery" notification that day, and the UPS redirect option wouldn't not let me divert the parcel to my workplace just a few miles down the road from my house for the next day attempt, so I ended up driving down to my local depot to collect the parcels. Just pray the useless customs monkeys at Donnington treat your pistol parts better than they did my m249... which arrived with multiple scratches over it, a broken front sight and a broken end plate for the mag box gas tank that had been wrenched off with a screwdriver instead of using the two release tabs that even stevie wonder could have seen No, I'm not angry.. what makes you say that? Suffice to say I will avoid anywhere that uses UPS for international shipping for the foreseeable future as they are utterly useless
  19. tried searching the forum and could only see a thread about AEG MP5s... as the title suggests i am looking for advice about which GBB MP5 would be best as i am looking to sell a few project guns i never got to work on and dive further down the GBB rabbit hole and add an MP5 to my armoury. i am aware of the range of WE Apache replicas, but recently came across mentions of SRC, VFC and Umarex GBB MP5s and people saying that the Apaches have some issues so, im looking for advice, preferably from people who have experience with multiple brands to get accurate comparisons, to help identify which MP5 GBB i should invest in based mainly on the following list (not exhaustive) -price and availability in UK -durability (especially the ability to HK slap them) -availability of compatible accessories -availability of replacement parts (OEM or aftermarket) -gas efficiency/co2 compatible and before anyone asks what model i am looking for (a5, SD6 etc), i'm looking primarily for a full size MP5, but the exact model of full size one isnt too important as i am more concerned with getting one that will be reliable and durable. i would also love to own an MP5k alongside the full size one, so mag commonality will be a bonus selling point thank you in advance for any advice and *ahem* YIPPEE KI YAY MOTHERFUCKERS
  20. they did..... still do... and i have one at least the mag is in a sensible place... not like the stupid ramrod thing on the springer version
  21. i think that sums up most airsofters *looks nervously at my armoury*
  22. reactivating this old thread.. i was also disappointed by the initial reports of the No.4 coming with a plastic stock, and so i decided against buying one, going for the S&T SMLE instead as it had a wooden stock. i recently came across one in stock at Onlyairsoft in Stevenage and found that it now comes with a wooden stock and with the gas tank in the stock, so i purchased it. it seems G&G heard the negative feedback to the plastic stock and acted accordingly.
  23. well, haven't been keeping up here the past few months, so now time for a shotgun blast.. In November i purchased a Fobus holster for my Cybergun FN Five-seveN along with matching adapters so i can have it as a drop leg fitting or mount it to the MOLLE of my plate carrier, as i intend to start running it more regularly as my john wick hi-cappa is getting a bit war-weary. i also bought a new sling and red dot sight, nothing special. no purchases in December January was just restocking consumables and bought some fill valve pins to replace leaking ones on my APS CAM shotgun shells and finally February has seen me buy a G&G gas Lee Enfield No.4 from OnlyAirsoft, which i have only briefly fielded at the Gaol last weekend to get a feel for it around the outside of the buildings lastly, a Krytac Kriss Vector arrived the other day from land warrior airsoft that i had pre-ordered back in November. annoyingly though, Krytac haven't sent out the spare mags for them yet, so i am waiting for them to arrive before i can use it in anger... though i was shocked at how light the mag that came with the gun is considering its a 60 round gas mag.
  24. sweet, if thats all it takes to fix this annoying issue, then i will be looking to do the same with my one. now i just need to source the part
  25. In a word... lowlife. Any more words than that and we will all risk being banned from the Internet forever... But there are more of them out there... Saw posted in the discord server for AI500 that this.... specimen.... is using Ollies cancer diagnosis as something to openly mock and belittle in his videos. https://youtube.com/@Necr0tronOffical?si=H_mXCW8SXqT6NppS Like the scam gofund me that was linked earlier in this thread, can we get this scum reported and taken down? (I have already done so) I agree with that sentiment... and doubly so for the link I posted above
