  1. Replacing internal parts with proprietary internal parts just seems like a change I really can’t wrap my head around. Perhaps I’ve just been scared away by the dreaded ‘p’ word when it comes to internal parts because I’ve been stung by them before I knew any better, so I’m making more of it than need be. But at least you’re covered by that wonderful warranty 👀. Once the r&d is finished on these I wouldn’t be shocked if the long term plan is to start throwing these into everything they make so at the very least they have an actual USP and a ‘nice’ reason to have everything, that isn’t a battery, proprietary for the bulk of the RIFs they sell.
  2. Not that it’s notably common in this country, especially in the North, but it tends to be the blazing hot days that bother me more than the cold and rain. I just never seem to be able to gauge it right when it’s roasting hot, granted I’m currently going through the ‘I’m getting old’ rites of passage and gradually slimming my kit down more and more... I imagine that’ll help. While I’m here another one that gets me, though entirely unreasonable... so I’ll go ahead and acknowledge that now, shitty coloured tape to show which team you’re on. Picking up my own Velcro armbands in a variety of colours that seem to be commonly used at sites is probably one of the best investments I’ve ever made.
  3. Continuing the journey to full on leafy boy with my first proper attempt at artificial leaves. Pretty happy so far, looking forward to finishing them.

  4. A few years ago 'cheating' (everything from not taking/calling hits, to those yelling accusations) would have probably been toward the top of my list but not so much nowadays. Unsurprisingly everything that falls in and around the subject of cheating is entirely unnecessary, but over the years I've found it bothers me less and less. Fortunately, for the most part I feel like folks realise they just need to take responsiblity for themselves and leave others to do the same, if they can't help themselves then talk to a marshall. I know right, fat chance. One thing that does irk me more and more these days is when folks don't call a hit, they just get up and wander off. Not so much as a raised hand shown. There is a difference between taking a hit, and calling a hit... and I wish the calling part wasn't falling out of favour as much as it seems to be.
  5. I can't figure out which bothers me more: Price FPS '55.6'
  6. I assume he believes it to be efficient to use the 'money shots' from his Tinder profile on airsoft forums, you never know when Cupid could strike... 🤦‍♂️
  7. Getting 5 minutes into a game and realising you're wearing too much/too little based on what the weather is doing. That, and unpacking and cleaning everything after a day or weekend of skirmishing... though the latter is purely down to laziness. Honourable mention for RIFs in general, we all know they're both the best and worst part.
  8. @Adolf Hamster's speedloader antics reminded me of a mod I'd been planning to do on mine to stop the push lock clicking open while in a pouch. Seems to be working so far! (Ignore the ropey engraving, function over fashion in this case).

When I can be bothered to find something a bit ‘nicer’ I’ll probably replace the paper clips but it’s functional for now. Only advice is to be careful with your pin vise as you go through the middle of the nub thing, mine were hollowed out so it went much quicker than expected!

  9. Spent a few spare moments today doing some crafting on the Mk23, pretty happy so far. Just waiting on some raffia to finish it up!

  10. Agreed. Granted, irrelevant of how it all started I can't help but feel like calming the situation, even if that meant bending the knee when he didn't feel he was in the wrong, is generally a better way to go as a business owner rather than doubling down and it becoming the memefest it has turned into. Just seems like such a perculiar route to take.
  11. I too couldn't resist taking a look, some absolute gold on there. My personal top pick:
  12. Though not a surefire (😏) way of checking my usual go to at first is the standard end cap/switch. Real ones are marked with ‘www.surefire.com’, and the inside of the cap is black with a silver coloured (no idea of the material) contact. Unless Surefire have changed their marking and materials, combined with the previous offence I’d probably go ahead and assume the light isn’t genuine either. Photos of my end cap are below. Unless I got sailed down the river a while back it’s genuine. Edit: Mine also has what I’m guessing is a serial number beneath the main branding on the body of the light. Though I’m not an expert so this could be a version marking rather than a serial number. Either way, it isn’t present on the images in the eBay sale. The one pictured on the listing looks... familiar. Cheers, Alex
  13. Thanks very much gents! I'm guessing this is the 'regular' length non-polymer ones? Thanks in advance, Alex
  14. Anxiety for me. I used to live in the Midlands and play regularly with a group of friends which took the sting out of awkward social interactions (which were made awkward by me and my silly brain). Since moving up North I rock up on my lonesome and find it hard to enjoy the social side of the game, COVID has definitely made that much more difficult... lunch time tends to be a lonely affair. That's assume I pass the first trial of actually booking a game, especially if it's a site I haven't been to before. Not to mention having some weird guilt everytime I actually shoot some one, probably doesn't exactly go hand in hand with my hobby of choice! Same carries over to game play, I'm pretty quiet and sheepish though I am slowly moving over to a more long range style of play which seems to be a better match for my personality and the early signs are that I enjoy it much more than trying to force myself within a hair width of a panic attack. Fortunately I've met some great folks up here, and while I don't have a group of friends to go with the general attitude of players helps take a bit of the edge off. Getting there... slowly. I also fall into the trap of 'fixing' things which aren't broken. Lockdown was awful for that one in particular. So flawed, send help 😂.
  15. Hi folks, Tried a search assuming this had been covered somewhere but couldn’t find much outside of a few posts in the ‘What have you just bought’ thread, so figured I’d ask here. Apologies is my ability to search has failed me. Recently picked up a Mk23 (SSX-23 to be specific, I know, burn the witch) and am trying to figure out exactly what mag pouches do and do not fit the mags. I’m specifically hoping for a ‘fast mag’ style pouch without Velcro, mainly due to the noise. I’ve tried Esstac KYWI’s, they just pop out and I’m not wanting to reshape the insert because they’re my go to pouch for Glock mags. I’ve tried them in the ‘stacked’ (rifle mag with pistol mag attached to the front of it) variant of the HSGI TACOs and they feel a bit loose to me. But I suspect that could be how the retention setup works on the stacked ones... so picking up some single pistol mag TACOs could be the ticket? Also looked into the G-Code Scorpion Soft Shell pouches, they look like they’d do the trick but supply seems to be the issue there... unless folks are aware of decent quality clones which are more readily available. Would appreciate any light folks can shed! Cheers, Alex
  16. Trying to remove who's attached to it from the equation, I just wish it wasn't so 'safe'. Don't get me wrong, going through and making a replica of each popular RIF on the market one by one is probably a smart business move but it's just so... boring. I'm sure the 'SSScorpionEvo' will be a real revelation.
  17. Hi bud, I'm certainly not an expert (I don't own one), but I did a quick YouTube search to see if there was a video of someone fitting it so you can just work it backwards and found this. Hope it's of use, if the time stamp isn't working on the link you need to start around 3:58. TLDR, it appears there is a screw (maybe 2, I couldn't quite make it out) that screws into the barrel nut beneath the section shown in your first image. Hopefully this is of use, apologies if not! Assuming it fits like a regular front end the threaded bit you can see at the back will be a separate barrel nut which isn't attached to the rail itself. Cheers, Alex
  18. Weird evening spent stripping my Polarstar Mk18 down ready to sell for parts. When I finished this build I was fairly confident I wouldn't feel the need for anything else... then my MWS came along.

  19. Well, well, well. I've finally joined the club. Have an optic and optic mount en route alongside a pressure switch for the light and a new grip. Probably going to keep it fairly simple and slick, would be a shame to cover too much of it up! Cheers, Alex
  20. You know when you realise you have too much stuff, and common sense says you should sell some of it. Man, common sense is the worse sometimes.

That's why I'm focusing my collection on pistols, so at least they're not excess crap that's in the way!

Mine is always more the 'gear' side of things than it is RIFs. I don't have a vast collection of RIFs, and for the most part if I get something new it's to replace something which I will then sell on. 7 pairs of perfectly functioning coyote/tan gloves says I don't do this when it comes to gear 😂.
