Only other advice, which I meant to put in my previous post and forgot, would be that if you wind up in a similar situation when putting something in the classifieds and you're not certain on pricing don't be afraid to pop it in the appraisals section first. It'll generally serve you well to show you've at least made an effort by putting some photos in there, and if you have any idea of what sort of price you'd be looking for (whether that's with or without your working).
-
By my maths (and an attempt to navigate the not particularly easy to follow options on DCA) you're not far of the mark as you are. The total of what you've got listed seems to be £1100 give or take (£975 for the upgraded RIF, £125 for the EPMs). Taking the very broad sweeping general advice of 60-70% you at a range of £660-£770. Marui's tend to hold value well and yours looks to be in superb condition based on the photos. For the whole lot I actually think your price is pretty fair (expensive, but not overpriced) and despite varying opinions upgraded Marui's with Titans are desirable (albeit a big 'buyer beware' due to there being a Titan in there and no warranty from the person that installed it). Only thing I might suggest to make the price a bit less eye watering to those that might be interested would be to split the EPMs out. Sell those for £80-£90, and knock that much off the price for the RIF. Food for thought at the very least, I'm sure opinions will vary but as I said in the first paragraph expensive but not overpriced. Edit: Apologies for this grim reminder as to how much this lot cost in the first place.

For sure, if you like throwing mags around and not being able to do that is a deal breaker then that alone is enough for it to not be a good fit for you. I'm honestly not sure that's something different mags would change, they're heavy twats whatever the weather so once you're introducing gravity to that weight chances are something is breaking. I'm sure you're smart enough to know what could prevent that issue specifically, but it seems like frisbee'ing mags around ranks higher in your personal priority of things you want than the things the MWS does offer that your other platforms don't. I'm not convinced you're likely to find a GBBR/GBBSMG (is that abbreviation a thing?) that'll be able to shift that list of priorities, at least not as a 'primary squeeze' but I hope you get some degree of joy from dabbling 🤷♂️.
-
Not sure I say it quite ranks as fanboying (though I am genuinely surprised by the lack of fanboying to convince you that the MWS is fine, and that it is you that is the problem). Just think the opening gambit on the GBLS was poorly worded 'have you taken a look at, it might be your cup of tea' would have likely come across better give the experience/lack thereof. But I must say the entire exchange has been thoroughly entertaining and I hope it continues.

Gotta pump those numbers up, while definitely not being suspicious at all, before starting to send PM's to folks with wanted ads up claiming your uncle has exactly what they're after... which is also definitely not suspcious at all.
-
Much appreciated! I did have a quick look before putting this post up, saw one that was fairly recent. Ultimately landed on not wanting to start a train of selling some of the mags separate to the pistol... only to spawn another wanted thread looking for additional mags from the person I sold the pistol to 😅. Though definitely an option should the eventual buyer not want all of the mags. Just trying to make life as easy as possible for both myself and the buyer I guess 🤷♂️. @Tackle Courtesy of the lovely chap above it appears I have a starting point (my prices are always including PayPal fees and postage, and I'll never understand why folks make life so hard by not doing the same). Feel free to shoot me a message as to where that sits... even if it's that you're no longer interested if at all possible, just means I know if I need to sort out a thread in the classifieds or not. Ta!
-
Hopefully this isn't within the realms of being an impatient prick (if it is... then sorry, not sorry), just wanted to do a bump of sorts of a thread I've got in the appraisals section... a section I myself rarely look at unless I have a post in there.
It's for a KSC G23f with some extra mags, if you have any thoughts on a reasonable/fair price please let me know because I'm clueless. Plenty of photos in the thread which I'll link here.

Don't you worry, we managed to figure out you were at the very least still alive via your activity in the Negative YouTube comments 😅. Glad you wound up with some positive news on the site front, I'm looking forward to your incoming 'wat am best gnu under £100 2021 edition?' thread 👀. My spidey sense also says that DPM is about to hit an upswing in terms of gucci appeal (I don't think it's ever truly gone out of fashion, but I can't shake this feeling it's about to become very in fashion). It's long since been replaced by MTP in the 'generic airsofter on a budget' stakes.

The 'What have you just bought' Thread

Wasn’t expecting this till tomorrow/Friday based on the tracking (good ol’ UPS)... but I’ll take it. Had nothing but regret since selling my previous one, suffice to say I won’t be making that mistake again... probably. -
Given how derailed we are at this point I figured I'd jump in, I don't actually think this is due to the amount of BBs in their mags and/or the weight of the RIF. I think it's often folks that have chosen to follow the advice/thoughts/preferences of others rather than figuring it out themselves. It's super easy to be Captain HIndsight over, but I've definitely caved to 'GBBR am master race' in the past when I simply wasn't ready for that to be how I was playing the game. It's just unfortunate that it's the same vicious cycle as it can be getting work, knowing what you want requires education and experience... and as a new player you'll likely have neither (the lack of education moreso being a lack of accurate information than a lack of information). (At the risk of dragging it back on topic) And such threads like this are born, where the initial question is too vague (in my opinion) to give a proper recommendation based on waht the OP wants. To give an actual recommendation outside of 'TM is a safe bet' I'd need to know more information about what the OP's list of priorities was alongside the budget.

A pair of kydex mag holders for the Prowin Glock mags from Kydex Customs. Decided to give Tek Loks (or at least Tek Lok adjacent) a go for the first time, added convenience of swapping things about seems great. Superb work as always from the folks there. And an MCB strap/cover for the Peltors, just fancied a change. -
OP is wise to this forums antics. Drop in, ask question, take first answer at face value and run away without saying a word before you have to witness it descend into madness/tangents.

Oof, calling a 416 an AR15. That's going to really hurt someones feelings 😂 (Because tone is seemingly so hard to gauge in typed text, yes this is tongue in cheek.) -

Don't want to speak definitively, more something to keep an eye on if it's something that's likely to bother you. But once you're in the world of GBBRs and the like there is a strong chance you'll be losing zero on cheaper optics. As I say, not definitive, some of the 'naff stuff' can surpass expectations. Nevertheless, enjoy! -
Marshalling is ultimately taking your hobby and turning it into a job (though it's rarely treated like that, more on that later), that's a pretty hard thing to reverse. Many of the, what I'd consider, good marshalls I've known across the years are of the opinion that it's very much a case of you're a marshall or you're a player when it comes to a site. Trying to juggle the two just never really works out. The point at which they've transitioned to becoming a marshall rather than a player was when they've felt the games at said site started to grow stale, but they still wanted to be involved with the social side. Whenever they've decided they want to play they'd go to a different site, often turning into a bit of an 'away day' for the regulars. (This paragraph is a tangent) I personally loathe the whole player marshall thing, where you're not actually an employee of the company/individuals running a site, you're just a pal/regular that gets a handful of benefits for helping out. I couldn't give you any specifics as to why, outside of niche things like players whipping a hi-vis out of a dump pouch the moment things get spicy, granted that's the person not 'the role'. I just think marshalls should be a more official thing where they have applied for a vacancy, been interviewed, given the position because they were the right fit for the job and paid accordingly for their services. I don't have any first hand experience of marshalling, this hobby is one of the few things in my life where I don't carry responsibility for others (outside of abiding rules for others safety) and I'd like to keep it that way, but my thoughts align with the sentiments of folks with experience as stated above. Depends on how you think you can juggle it, but I dare say you've got some commutes in your future if you want to keep the game as more of a hobby than a job.

Aye, truthfully I've never personally encountered the latter. I imagine they're something you're more likely to come across in groups/forums for those with that specific shared interest, as it's not an interest I have it makes sense I've not personally come across it. I'm not sure I'd say they're particularly derogatory, but I'm also not a person that would find them derogatory even if it was to turn out I fell into either camp (chances are I actually fall into both in some degree). Seems like a similar case to the first, with the differentiating factor not being that you have/are into fancy kit/RIFs/impressions but more so how much you seek to enforce/impose that onto others? As an example, there have absolutely been instances on this forum where I've seen photos of 'loadouts' and had... lets go ahead and call them 'thoughts' about what's been said alongside what I'm seeing. I'm just old enough and wise enough to keep my mouth shut because I figured out pretty quickly on here that folks are generally looking for positive reinforcement on purchasing descisions in those threads more than they are actual critique. A bit of a 'know your audience' case toa degree imo.

I will say that I think it's important to maintain some self awareness that speaking ill/talking down on folks because you disagree with their idea of what's fun/important kinda lands you in a pot, kettle, black situation. I've tried to be as careful as I can to not dip into derogatory terms for the sake of it, doing so just ensures the vicious cycle of fragmented groups continues. Not that I'm naive enough to think it's somethingt hat would ever stop but whatever 🤷♂️. And just to be clear, their are multiple instances of needlessly dipping into being actively against someones idea of fun (hell, I even highlighted I'd done it in my initial post) so wasn't intending to quote you to call/single you out... it was just the most convenient. Not at all saying we should stop having a whinge about things we disagree on, just wanted to highlight that we can't really sit here on our Holier-Than-Thou thrones while doing the exact thing that we're whinging about... just so happens our opinion tends to be more popular around these parts so it's easier to have it validated/supported. TLDR - We can't really sit here saying 'everyone should just do what they find fun, fuck everyone else'... while slating something others find fun, even if we disagree with their methods it's hypocritical.

I think this is nail meets head for a lot of this sort of thing for many into cloning/impression stuff (to be clear, this is an educated guess). The thrill of the chase and all that, though I do think in this day and age a lot of the reasoning behind doing it has changed. 'Clout' tends to be a driving force behind folks wanting rare/gucci shit rather than them having a particular strong feeling toward it, I'll openly admit it's a rabbit hole I've fallen down before (truthfully, likely on multiple ocassions) and I've never been tempted toward the impression side of things. I'm in a really happy place with what I have both for RIFs and gear now, largely because I entirely stopped giving a fuck about keeping up appearances and started getting stuff I want (and in some cases rebuying things I'd gotten rid of). Fortunately some of the stuff I've been after is harder to get your hands on so I still get some of that chase for things... and it's for what I'd call 'the right reasons'.

The whole cloning/reproducing thing will often wind up being a weirdly firey topic. Even more so when you're jumping between wanting to reproduce a film prop versus a closest approximation of what the real folks used (the two not always being the same based on what's available). It's been a long time since I was particuarly interested in directly cloning something, I tend to shoot for 'inspired bys' where I'm replicating something I like the look of but putting things I like the function, form or look of in the mix. From what I understand that era is a bit of a wild west as to what folks would have been using, you didn't have the 'blocks' as you do now (granted there still seems to be a degree of confrontation as to exactly what does and doesn't make up the blocks so 🤷♂️). For my money if you've got a carry handle upper, some sort of carry handle rail mounted Aimpoint-a-like (imagine Comp M2 repro's would be the easiest/cheapest to source), a CAR stock and ideally a sleeve style suppressor you've got 'the look'. It's largely up to you how much research, part sourcing and spending you want to do to get it 'accurate'. Chase your bliss, make your own fun etc etc. Take this next paragraph with a pinch of salt, it's largely based on second hand anecdotal mutterings because impression kits is never something that has interested me in the slightest, but as I understand it historically you come across some of the biggest cnuts around in those circles. Just turns into a weird dick swinging contest where folks would seemingly rather laugh and berate you for getting something wrong rather than help you get it right (if that's something you're inclined to want to do). Just seems like a really gatekept thing rather than coming across as a community that actually wants folks in it, that's my potentially ill-informed take anyway. If impressionist stuff is your thing, more power to you, it's not something I truly understand the motivations behind because it's not something that appeals to me. TLDR - Yum yuckers are the worst, myself included.

Anyone Gone GBBR Only - Even U.K. Winter
alxndrhll replied to Cyberlawyer's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I'd hold onto it personally, but I like having the safety net. I'd rather have a RIF/RIFs which rarely get used but I know will work when called upon than not. The past year or so aside I don't get out as much as I'd like to, so knowing (or at least hopefully knowing) I'll get to play all day with my own RIFs without having to pack up early due to kit giving up isn't insignificant for me. From what I can gather the main question here seems to be more a financial one, what I'm gleaming from this is that there is other crap you want and you'd rather sell something you have to fund it than pay for it outright... the remaining AEG seemingly being the prime candidate based on your current preferences. There isn't a huge amount of advice to give there unfortunately, you just need to figure out which you want more... a game day insurance RIF or a shiny new RIF. Either way you're going to wind up with more RIFs than you'll be using in a day, irrelevant of how you try to justify it to yourself 😅. -
This feels almost like a legal line/disclaimer, but I can't guarantee bumping the power of the gas past 144a will mean the slide will survive as long as it would on 144a. I've never first hand heard or seen Nuprol 2.0 kill a Marui slide of any description, but whichever way you look at it the risk of that happening is increased, so I guess you need to figure out what your list of priorities is in terms of using flashy parts, it working reliably, it being more powerful, stock parts not breaking etc. If it were me putting myself in your shoes, I'd be returning everything to stock and get it working on 144a, because I don't see why you need the extra power given the reason you own the RIF and that'll give you the best lifetime on the stock parts. If it were me as someone that skirmishes, I'd run it stock on Nuprol 2.0 (or similar) till it breaks and then just replace the things that broke... because I feel like the risk of the high powered gas is worth the reward of the additional performance. I don't personally think that risk/reward works out in your favour given what you have the RIF for, but that's up to you to decide ultimately.
-
Aye, I use green gas in all of my Marui Glocks and haven't killed the slides on any of them yet. Granted that's not entirely useful information, different shape/sized slides will likely have different breaking points. I've never fit one myself but from what I understand with the Guarder Glock kits they're a bit of a nightmare to fit, no idea how that translates to the other Guarder kits but food for thought. Granted it seems like them being a prick to fit might be a plus in your case 😅. As for losing trades, you'd be able to get those engraved/etched on there somewhere if you particularly wanted to. Of all the Ali things I've read on this forum, this might be the most Ali thing I've read on this forum.
-
I wouldn't say that's the case, but hopefully you can understand how bumping the thread less than 24 hours after posting it on a Bank Holiday weekend and then bemoaning the community at large might rub folks the wrong way? Certainly an unusual tactic for trying to get advice/help. As with many of your other questions it's hard to say for sure because you've swapped things around. There are various parts in a GBB pistol that I'd personally consider consumables (nozzles, springs etc) in that I expect them to need swapping out at some point. Moving up from 144a will likely mean these parts would need swapping out quicker, but that's assuming those parts are currently stock. The one thing I wouldn't consider a consumable, though many (especially Hicapa builders) would, is the slide. As others have stated I've heard anecdotal evidence that green gas can kill Marui slides but I've never had it happen myself. Granted outside of a flamboyant Hicapa build which I've since sold I tend to keep my Marui pistols stock.
