  1. Extremely jealous of the Spiritus back panel, have been waiting what feels like an age for them to turn up somewhere over here... and seemingly continue to do so. Fingers crossed that wait is over before too long. Lovely gathering of bits!
  2. Don’t suppose anyone has a source for lexan/polycarb discs? Been on the hunt for a while to protect a weapon light/replica T2 to no avail, found plenty of acrylic but I suspect that’s not really up to the task... though happy to be told otherwise. Obviously not in a rush given the current situation, but it’s been on my ‘get this at some point’ list long enough to become irritating!

eBay? That's where I got mine at least. Most will do any size you like if you message them too.

  3. Might just be worded poorly which results in being misleading, but there is no way that is genuine Surefire suppressor (largely because real ones cost north of $1000) if that is legitimately what is being claimed here. Decent quality repro’s tend to be pricey for sure (ones with trades tend to run around the £80 mark, varying based on which one they're a replica of), and quite hard to track down with trades but buyer beware.
  4. I got back into airsoft 'properly' at the tail end of 2019 to try and ease a creeping feeling of isolation following relocating for work, little did I know that'd become a theme in 2020.

It certainly hasn't been the year I'd hoped for, but I want to take a moment to thank those of you I've had interactions with on here. It may not be much, but it's helped me not go entirely insane. I don't really buy into that our calendar means much of anything when it comes to new years rolling round, but here's hoping things become a bit more enjoyable over the next few months.

Yeah we've all lost varying degrees of sanity this year.

But whilst its been a hell of a year and things still aint so good at least the future is looking hopeful for getting back to normality, which in our case is dressing up as soldiers and shooting each other :P

You and me both. I got back into airsoft in Octboer 2019. Suffice to say, I don't feel like I'm well and truly back yet thanks to lockdowns

  5. Such a useful bit of kit. I initially got mine for cleaning up/pinning tabletop miniatures... now it’s predominantly used for making air line holes in things. Most recently a pair of BCM Gunfighter grips (got one in black and one in FDE because I couldn’t decide on a colour) which arrived yesterday from Brownells, amongst other things, to go on my MTW. So far: MTW Forged SBR B5 Systems stock Replica T2 on replica Geissele mount BCM Gunfighter Mod 3 grip BCM Gunfighter Mod 3 foregrip BCM Gunfighter rail covers Surefire Scout Light Magpul Off-set Mount Replica dual pressure pad Good ‘ol Ranger Bands Waiting on: Black PTS EPMs (original ones) Replica Surefire Mini2 w/ four prong tuning fork PTS Enhanced Iron Sights Some QD sling fixings to attach my Slingster (which was a Christmas present from my long suffering girlfriend) The will to remove the barrel nut and mod the dust cover so it closes
  6. I often thought the same when it came to different kinds of stippling, pleasantly surprised by the 'comfort' (though somewhat irrelevant because I play wearing gloves). Was also surprised by just how 'grippy' it is.
  7. Definitely a departure from my usual tastes, but I’m into it.
  8. Found myself with a huge amount of renewed excitement to get back to some CQB once able (next year at this point), fancy picking up a smaller 'primary'. I'm currently between a TM MP7, ASG MP9 or a fancy Hicapa. The latter of which likely drawing my interest more than the others at present, largely because it'd be an entirely new thing to me as someone that historically isn't a 'pistol guy'. It's nice to have things to look forward to.

I’m up North currently, Manchester area. The sites I referenced as not being overly impressed were The Mill and Anzio Camp, both being run by FAO. Neither were ‘bad’ to the point of never wanting to return, but definitely not ‘good’ enough for them to be a site I attend regularly.

Dagger Woods is the woodland site I immediately fell in love with, and Level 2 is the site I’m most looking forward to trying whenever that ends up being possible. Both run by the same company, so fingers crossed its run similarly to Dagger Woods.

That seems like reasonable grounds to not want to return, especially if you’re buying parts and fitting them yourself. I ended up putting in an order yesterday, not being able to go and do anything over the festive period courtesy of restrictions and an entirely unexpected end of year bonus combined perfectly for a late Christmas present to myself. I’ll definitely bookmark Rainbow8, I can see how customising these things gets addictive.

@alxndrhll Ah! Yes FAO, not the best of companies. I too have the same feelings over Anzio. Not a bad site but the running of seems to lack a little, I also found the lead marshall quite unphased, almost like he didn't really want to be there.

I'm over the hills from you in Derbyshire but do intend on making the trip over to Level2 as well as I agree it looks amazing. I'm lucky this side and have The Dept and recently opened ProjectX & Skirmish CQB to play at (when they're open).

The hi-capa slope is long and slippery! Whatever you do, don't keep a note of how much you spend lol

Just feels very much like a case that they've been around for a long time and have their way of doing things. If you like that way, all power to you. Anzio for me was just over use of the same buildings, every game felt like it was playing out the same irrelevant of what 'the objective' was. Can't say I personally had any issues with the marshalls, though I'm not generally a fan of volunteer marshalls that tag in and out of playing/marshalling.

I'm definitely hoping to do some travelling around myself once that's something we can do so hopefully we'll run into each other at some point!

Haha, by some miracle I've managed to land within budget on the initial build. I suspect I'll want an advanced frame at some point but very much going to 'run it till it breaks' as it comes to me and then tinker from there. Only things I'm eyeing up replacing in the near-ish future would be the grip screws and hammer, but that's definitely a cosmetic thing over anything else.

  9. My loose understanding is that Mack’s is predominantly to prevent, or at least try to, the sale items which are over priced. Not to try and drag the way some folks play the game through the mud. One of these things is fairly objective, the other entirely subjective. If this doesn’t line up with your opinion we’ll have to agree to disagree, which again, is fine.
  10. I have seen an alarming amount of cases of folks where I genuinely cannot figure out why airsoft is a hobby they continue to engage with. I’m aware as a public forum there will be a variety of opinions shared here, some matching mine and others conflicting them. And that’s entirely fine, it’s what keep the game interesting and keeps innovation/iteration moving. People like different things, people want different things... and that’s ok. And no, that isn’t my sale ?
  11. Eh, my personal preference/thoughts is drum mags only look right on specific RIFs... often, but not limited to, ‘support weapons’. But I don’t tend to try pushing my opinions on others. Irrelevant of how folks get enjoyment out of what they use and how they use it, I’d rather have folks to play with/against than not. I’ve said it before, but people spend far too much time worry about what other people are doing/using. Often to the detriment of their own enjoyment. I swear airsoft is a secondary hobby to some, with the primary hobby being ‘moaning about airsoft’.
  12. PSA, if you enquire about an item on the classifieds with a view to buy and then change your mind have the common courtesy to tell the seller. You’re well within your right to change your mind and spend your hobby pennies as you wish, but fuck me are woeful communication skills infuriating.

    Much better, I needed that.

oh never agree to hold things, first person to pop up with the money is first to get it.

only exception is if you're chatting with a few folk at one time then i tend to go in order of whoever messaged first (assuming they take a normal amount of time to reply)

It also works the other way,i wanted to buy a RIF messaged the seller ,agreed to buy  asked for paypal  address and then nothing, bloke went dark on me .

How hard is it to let someone know that things have changed.

Be polite in both buying and selling ,you never know one day you may come face to face and have to have a Duel  for  Honour ..lol

  13. An awful lot of builds that I can only imagine were intended to be 'forever RIFs' with all the bells and whistles going up at the moment. I think we've all been there where you pour a lot of either/and/or time, effort, funds into a RIF that you want to be an absolute dream peace... but ultimately just becomes too hard to justify having that expense tied up while getting out to play is so limited. Makes me genuinely a bit sad, same old story I guess. If you're going to pump a large amount of funds into a single RIF, you do you, but do so in the knowledge you're getting nowhere near that back should you want/need to part with it. I'm not versed well enough with AEGs to have any idea as to what could justify the price, but given it's also a pretty niche piece I suspect you'd be lucky to see somewhere around the £600 region.
  14. Planning on playing a bit more CQB when such a time is permitted. Spent the entire night, thanks insomnia, looking up various eye/face pro options and I suspect I’m now officially more confused as to a good way to go than when I started. A Dye mask seems like the easiest catch all solution, but ohh boy do I get flashes of the ‘How do you do, fellow kids?’ gif every time I look at them.

      Is absolutely the right answer!

Herosharks are fine in the woods, a friend had a BB mince itself through his Herosharks first day out with them in the woods. That was a sniper at maybe 50-60M. I know the sniper and the gun setup as well and it was just a straight up shattered BB into his eyes.
I tried Sawfly's indoors but they just felt a little too open.

You are right though, last time out in a CQB I had an i4 and it gave a knowledge I was really well protected so I played probably the most aggressive game of my life. Loved it!

They’re definitely my go to whenever I’m sniping, for a whole host of reasons.  Better concealment, easy to craft on, small form factor and the most obvious of don’t fog. That play style tends to mean I get to dictate the ranges at which I engage so (rightly or wrongly) I have minimal safety concerns versus the pros of using them.

Looks like my mind is made up, just need to figure out the colour (between Onyx and ‘Dyecam’)... though knowing me they’ll last maybe 10 minutes before I paint them ?.

@alxndrhll This was my dyecam i4. Yes that's pink and gold glitter.

I got it cheap at £20 and whilst indoors I thought F it, have some fun and a laugh.

  15. For sure, I've been impressed by the incrimental upgrades/improvements they make as a company so I see no reason to expect them to be any worse than the previously available offerings. Definitely some nice 'quality of life' changes in there, assuming the changes to feedtube/retention and the hop don't royally screw feeding up it's hard to see how it could be objectively worse... I'm sat here hoping they'll turn their eye to the AK platform now, though I'm not holding my breath! In terms of playing around with hop components that's just the nature of the beast, and airsoft fallacies regarding 'the best length and bore barrel' certainly confuse things slightly. But it's all part of the fun, I love tinkering around... even if the end result ends up worse than where I started. It's such a simple platform to work on swapping things back is a piece of cake (Phoenix hop aside, but my experience is anecdotal at best).
  16. From what I can gather your suspicion is correct in regard to the 'dust cover'. The thing I'm most intrigued to see in the new batch is how the pre-installed Phoenix hop is working out. It's a really interesting design, but as with anything that adds 'precision' at the cost of complication they seem very fiddly to get shooting better than the stock (or at least what was stock) unit... which arguably says a lot about how good the stock unit is. If it shoots well out of the box I'd strongly recommend not changing anything!
  17. Welp, against my better(?) judgement I've gone ahead and ordered my first AEG in roughly half a decade. Also my first ever Taiwangun and Gunfire orders, so intrigued to see what that experience is like. That's the base gun, mags and external parts on the way for my 'heretical' AK. Let the hunt for tech to make it sing commence... because it certainly won't be me!

Sidenote, any advice in terms of batteries which fit in battery space of a CM045a would be appreciated. I'm planning on running 11.1's in it once it's had the things installed to make that safe/not at risk of making it die. It's weirdly refreshing to feel like a total noob again.

Of course you ask that question and i immediately forget what length the pdi in my aksu was. I wanna say 250 but honestly cant remember.

It did finish up right at the muzzle nut so was fine for different muzzle devices (although i was running a huge can because hpa+can=silence)

Internals wise changing little is a good move. The base cyma internals arent too shabby although air seal might need a little tlc and a fresh hop rubber to lift some proper weight ammo.

    3. alxndrhll

      alxndrhll

Haha, always the way! I won't lie, it's weird having to be even remotely specific with barrel length. I'm much the same where it's largely HPA with a can so if the barrel over runs the outer a bit it's not an issue.

I'm curious to see how long it takes before this ends up with an F2 in it... or gets kicked to the curb to be replaced by a GHK. But I convinced myself going for the more budget option of cladding an AK in Zenitco was likely the right call, at least to begin with. This one is very much a fashion over function (though I'll happily take both). In all my years I've never used an AK, so jumping in at the deepest of deep ends to start with seemed ill advised.

    4. Skara

I think a Perun V3 or an optical unit of some sort (titan v3 or the new aster v3) would definitely fix the semi auto lockups.

As far as batteries, my E&L can only take batteries that are less than 17mm in diametre if I want to fit them inside the gas tube.

If you go for a warfet, I recommend routing it through the front, into the front trunnion so that you keep the whole top cover dedicated to batteries. I didn't and I'm stuck to 7.4s (my 11.1s are too chubby to fit in the gas tube).

  18. Some might argue this is inspired thinking given how much value seems to be placed on original packaging when it comes to second hand sales. Cut out the frustration of trying to sell the actual RIF, just sell the thing that's clearly so desired.
  19. Not sure about the gloryhole grip, but this speaks to me.
  20. I think this might be my favourite of the bunch, purely because it comes across as genuine disappointment that a ‘hop adjustment key’ is in fact just an allen key. No idea why I find it adorable, but I do.
  21. Still very much in the 'is this something I actually want to do or am I just bored' camp, but is there is a general 'tier' of quality when it comes to Zenitco repro parts? I'm still jumping between whether it would be an AEG or a GHK, and whether it would be a 105 or an S74U so this very much a non-part specific question... which likely doesn't help.

  22. Credit where credit is due they're decent suppressors, the modular features are useful and the 14mm CCW adapter that's included makes it something you can use on a variety RIFs. Likely slightly overpriced at it's regular RRP but the discount currently available makes it a decent buy imo ?‍♂️.
  23. I must be behind on my loose understand of the general rule for AKs, is ‘Nyet. Rifle is fine.’ dying out? ? I guess I hadn’t really considered the receiver/finish of the receiver being worth the extra but that makes a lot of sense. I fear I’m straying in to territory of maybe finally actually ‘doing the thing’ in the not too distant future. This thread is so dangerous.
  24. Haha, I look forward to seeing it nevertheless! There’s just something about Zenitco parts that draws me in, irrelevant of what they’re on. The stumbling block any time I’ve seriously considered doing it is the base RIF. Seems a little backward to spend a lot on the base RIF and then replace half the things which lead to it costing so much in the first place. Add the fact I’ve struggled to find much information on what exact modifications are required to get parts which seem to have been made to fit LCTs, E&Ls and GHKs (‘high end’ as I understand it, I know VERY little about the AK platform in terms of airsoft) to fit on a Cyma and that tends to be the point the temptation dies out. Well, those and the fact I haven’t worked on an AEG in lord knows how long so I’d definitely end up breaking it.
  25. I’ve never been overly ‘into’ conventional steel/wood AKs, but I’ve always had a soft spot for short AKs with a bunch of Zenitco tat thrown on them. It’s a build I’ve never got round to doing, but have been thinking about more and more of late. This image is not helping.
