  1. depends on what you define as good trigger response. the warfet+precocking should be eliminating almost all the need for higher speed motor/gears unless faster auto is also an objective. frankly i don't see too much point in pushing beyond that for trigger response on an aeg, becomes an ever increasing cycle of difficulty and you're never getting to the same standards as a gbb or hpa.
  2. eh, either or. xt60 isn't a bad connector for sure, put simply anything's better than pretending we're still running NICAD's in the 80's.
  3. a reverse wired tamiya plug is gods way of telling you to use deans.....
  4. from what i've experienced/heard of pretty much all the gas powered grenades have pretty major problems with reliability/efficacy. the best design (although no cheaper than disposable) imo was the thunder b, which that one time it works as advertised makes one hell of a bang, the key part being "that one time" it actually detonates and doesn't fail to prime, leak gas, take bloody ages to go off or pop midair. the only thing i'd say for bfg's is the same for all re-usable pyro- you gotta remember to pick that shit up again, which means it can be lost or more importantly pinched. so my preference would be on disposables, throw and forget.
  5. this, afaik the white balance plugs are wired the same so if it charges through there. a good charger (rc or airsoft) should make it very clear if it thinks you've got the polarity wrong. i've been using my old rc kit since i started, still going strong.
  6. not normally one for artificial weathering (preferr to let it happen natural) but that's looking good.
  7. got any pics of the setup? because that sounds like exactly the sort of thing i need in my life.....
  8. yes and no. basically your bb will never have more energy than it does at the muzzle (for the sake of argument lets say 1.3j) and point blank it should hit as hard wether it's a .12 or a .48 everything else being equal. a heavier bb when span up by the hop unit has a lower velocity for the same energy. however it doesn't slow down as quick so carries its energy better and as such hits a bit harder at range. you also get the side benefits of being less affected by wind/leaves etc. generally i find for an assault gun style of role outdoors roundabout the .3g range is a nice balance of cost/performance, so you're off to a good start. if you want the long winded explanation then here's some light reading:
  9. for years i was known as "f2000 guy". i'd recount the times when having the more expensive toy gnu failed to prevent me getting shot, but it's happened so often i can't remember any more. pretty sure i got killed by a nerf gun once. i do remember a mate did once managed to get a "grenade" kill with a fudge bar. its also worth noting that for the most part, just because a given gun is expensive doesn't guarantee that it performs well at the fundamental task of slinging plastic downrange, a lesson i wish i hadn't learned the hard way.
  10. wait, it's possible to win in airsoft!? this, for example they might be a first time player such as yourself who's borrowing a bunch of kit from a mate who plays. goddamnit, you're not supposed to tell him that, where am i gonna get my meat sheild willing volunteers from now?
  11. ahh uk customs, apparently a we 226 hop/barrel set requires a firearms declaration.....

Sounds like you've had a similar experience like mine!

The cherry on the cake though, was when it finally cleared customs and went 'out for delivery' they shipped it to the wrong warehouse! So I had to wait another day for it to arrive...

i'm not in a massive rush, it's more the pain in the ass for something so small.

  12. dressed as=/=as effective as, especially in woodland red tends to stand out lol. was pretty funny, although he did say he regretted it by the end of the day being covered in bramble scratches and nettle stings. stupid stuff like this is one of the things i love about this hobby, for example we once started playing rick astley in the middle of a gunfight and everyone started singing and dancing to it, somehow we even managed to hold our ground for the duration as well... end of the day it's just a bunch of (mostly) grown men doing stupid shit in the name of a good time.

  14. basically all aeg's are functionally a 20+year old design, doesn't make them bad, and from what i've seen of the guts of the new fancy re-designs with rumble packs and proprietory parts i'd rather stick with the tried and proven systems. there's a bunch of options, although as skara suggests if it's your only gun then you should strongly consider sending to a reputable tech rather than have a go yourself. have a look here to familiarise yourself with the clockwork nightmare that is the guts of an airsoft gun: afaik ics stock internals are meant to be pretty good, probably just a clean up and sort the air seal job. skara is on the money that a gate warfet would give a nice boost in trigger response, although installation does require soldering. are you playing indoors or outdoors? that'll affect what you want to be focusing on
  15. whats wrong with traccys? honestly it doesn't matter what you're wearing, sure camo helps in woodland but you see people turning up wearing all sorts, this is a sport where you can see an extra from enemy at the gates teaming up with deadpool to take out an indian cheif. if you play as honestly and fairly as you can (call hits, don't hose everyone you see on auto etc) that will make more of an impression than the colour of your gat.
  16. Not seeing an airline? Not that i want to look at that picture for any length of time.....
  17. it does raise the interesting question where between say an m4 reciever, and a complete firehawk, you should draw the line.
  18. seriously, it's pretty hard to pluck up the courage, especially if you're striking out for the first time on your own, but there's no other way around it than to just get up and go play. pretty sure we've all been there at one time or another, just part of life.
  19. you know what's better than a usp right? hmm, might have to look into that and see, i do have the original box i'll maybe try setting it up and seeing what they say.
  20. what i'm curious about now is did he cut the barrel down himself or can you actually buy aeg barrels that short?
  21. y'see this is why i normally lead with the caveat of "within the extremes" but this isn't a case of performance, this is a case of dafuq dis
  22. i've played this game long enough and i've used enough small secondaries to know barrel length isn't critical, but jesus.....
