  1. I've joined and rejoined UKAPU over and over, but have never heard a squeak out of them, apart from seeing a very occasional self-congratulatory post on Facebook about some jolly their committee had, three weeks ago. Alternative narratives are doubtless available, and valid, but I can only speak to the truths of my lived experience.
  2. I'm not entirely sure where our super-luxury personal indulgence toys fit into any 5 Year Plans. 🤔
  3. Well, there goes my "Why you take footie so seriously, bro?" rant.
  4. We love a good rant here, but I'm not getting enough outrage from that post.
  5. And with no hop, making it a point blanker only. Yes, that's £40 of gun, plus a box that you'll likely leave it in once you find out how it performs. Being a fence is not a defence!
  6. Ahoy and welcome back to the money pit.
  7. And this absolute whanger, which is why I'm not blasé about "mid century history enthusiasts" with a very specific interest in lightning bolts and friendship windmills. I draw a distinction here between generic Wehrmacht or Rooshan, versus sporting ᛋᛋ or Z emblems. At an actual historic re-enactment event representing the totality of a conflict you can (but don't have to) make the "Well, someone has to do it" argument. At an airsoft skirmish, or even a milsim, that doesn't apply: it's always a conscious choice to go full fash. And the warning sign for me is not how long ago the events occurred, but whether the ideology behind them is still active now. And especially if it's still actively recruiting. If it is, then I'll always doubt the motives for choosing to display and promote it, regardless of any public protestations to the contrary.
  8. Agreed, it's astonishing that the professional fun-sponges in Holyrood haven't noticed us enjoying ourselves and put a stop to our nonsense.
  9. Agreed, I'm enjoying the fun while it lasts. I've also put a lid on buying more toys because I suspect that at some point they'll become a liability rather than an asset. One thing that we don't seem to do in the UK is buy-back schemes. When yet more things are criminalised, you're expected to destroy them, or hand them in to the police. So at that point, if you want to recoup some of what you've spent, the only way left to do that is to flog them to Bad Barry behind the Dog and Duck. Not, I think, the desired outcome.
  10. The winning answer. And given that they could go and sign up to do it for real, it's really rather pitiable that their courage only extends to make-believe. That said... Name and praise the site?
  11. That's certainly a thing that's possible to speculate and assert. However, is there an example we could examine, where a high rate of legally held and carried firearms is correlated with a high rate of illegally used firearms?
  12. "Bad news from the Colonies, your majesty."
  13. Well, the existing list is pretty long. Private ownership, in your own home, is currently a crime for: Knuckledusters; sword-sticks; hand-claws; belt-buckle knives; shuriken; butterfly knives; telescopic batons; blow-guns[1]; kusari-gama; kyoketsu shoge; kusari[2]; any disguised knife; ceramic knives other than cooking knives; any "straight, side-handled or friction-lock truncheon (sometimes known as a baton)"[3]; a sword with a blade over 50cm but only if curved; any blade with a cutting edge and serrated edge but only if it has an image or words that suggest it is to be used for the purposes of violence; or a spiral knife with two or more cutting edges in a helix. ...and breathe. It's genuinely a wonder that they haven't got around to crossbows yet. [1] A tube [2] A string with something tied to both ends. [3] A stick!
  14. People meet the monarch wearing issue boots. Is it possible that you have a boots issue? 🤔
  15. Careful now. Many people would apply the same argument to realistic imitation firearms. And would not consider "running around in the woods dressed up as a pretend soldier going 'Pew! Pew! Pew!'" to be a legitimate reason. We were only granted that as an afterthought, on a Ministerial whim that could be withdrawn at any time. Back on topic, I do agree that this looks like a lot of doom-mongering over a tiny orange band, when airsoft toys seem to come fitted with full orange muzzle devices in the Colonies right now. On a strict reading, you could even paint a bit of orange on the barrel of a pistol that's fully recessed inside the slide, since there's no requirement for it to be visible. However, the kicker might be the interpretation of "manufacture", if it's interpreted to meaning removing or covering up the day-glo. The lawyers will win, as always.
  16. 2005 was the year when they switched from adamantium to vibranium for the soles, right?
  17. Genuine question: if you're going to buy boots with textile sections, why bother with the leather bits at all? Dry use, ankle support, light weight, convenience?
  18. Mmm, after my Boots, Surplus, Assault, Gore-Tex, Kingdom, United wore the soles right through after a mere 6 years, I just took a punt on a pair of those Fallschirmjägermilitärstiefel, freshly resoled. They are chonky bois and no mistake, so I'll likely relegate them to motorbike use, and... uh... wear my motorbike boots for airsoft, I guess. 🤔
  19. Oooh, Goretex lined too, and only £50 grade 1 used or £65 new.
  20. Hide-and-seek world champion confirmed.
  21. Come back! We're not done yelling at you yet!
