Are Lancer Tactical that bad for the price? Do we know of any specific issues with them?
-
Isn't that £30 for membership (which is all UKARA really records), which gives you a £5 a day discount and access to night games and other stuff? https://skirmishwycombeairsoft.com/prices/

Everything is now your fault, forever. When are you going to sort my leaking bathroom tap, you slacker?
-
The bonus is making it HPA which is likely to make it "capable" of over 1.3J on auto, i.e. an actual Section 5 firearm inside a de-ac Section 5 firearm. Eh, it'll probably be fine, it's not we even get chronoed at some sites, let alone regular forensic examinations by tools of the State.

Hmm, DefCon does "recommend" 11.1V. I "quote" that as it's still fairly unusual. You're fine to try it, plenty of folk do.
-
Agreed, I'd only use 11.1V on something that I didn't mind rebuilding. With even a moderately uPgRaDeD motor, I'm at the limit (or beyond) of what the mags can feed, and it's really a question of when rather than if something goes KERUNCH.

You know the old saying: if you can't spot the sucker at the poker table, then it's you. I suspect that can be generalised to wankers and airsoft.

That unboxing buzz sure is addictive. It's great to hear that you're out of the hole now though, and helping your sons to avoid falling in it. Goddamn Klarna at every checkout. Can't afford it now? No problems, just pay it off later! No interest, no fees, no catch! Unless, you know, you can't afford it later either. Then they'll be happy to turn your payment into a loan at 19%. Can't pay that off? Then they'll turn it over to Big Baz at their debt collection arm and start piling on the fees and valuing your furniture. It's predatory behaviour: their entire business model is based on pushing people into the debt pit. -
It's well intentioned, and we're not judging or criticising your collection (plenty of us have bought lemons), just being honest. The KWA and Lancer are perfectly reasonable choices, and I'm genuinely interested in hearing how they're performing. The Ravens, well, they'll work fine until they don't - most pistols don't get a lot of use. It's also honest that there are very few airsoft techs who are worth paying, and there's no simple answer to your question as asked. We all know a guy who knows a guy, and retailers might have a tech who mostly just switches out shagged VFC gears but reckons he can have a go at anything else. But diligent professionals who will take a vague remit of "adjustments" and produce anything better than what you sent them are few and far between. Thus the question about what exactly you want done. If you're sending your guns in rather than visiting the nearest tech in person, the only ones that I personally would use, in this order, are: https://negativeairsoft.com/ https://www.kingdomofairsoft.com/ Both of them will charge in the region of £45 an hour for labour, plus a markup on parts, which is why you'll want to be clear about what they should be doing with that time. Anyone charging less isn't doing it for a living. I'll be fair and say that Eagle6 will probably not make anything worse, but I personally wouldn't use them for ethical reasons. If you're not bothered by that, they'll be happy to charge you £100 for tipping the internals out then putting them back.

Seems to me that it's an airsoft event for people who don't really like playing airsoft. So, basically a bunch of sweaty middle aged men desperate to hang out with other sweaty middle aged men, dress up in overpriced fetish gear, and compare piston sizes. I'll stick to motorcycle meets for that, thanks.

Ahoy, Timbo, welcome to AFUK, and sorry that you're licking the fuzzy end of the airsoft lollipop. That's the tri-shot, right? I have one, it's... well, mine feeds reliably. The lack of any hop makes it usable only at very short range in CQB though. I've not had cause to take the ASG apart, but having been inside a CYMA tri-shot that was mis-feeding, I'd say: get it back to the dealer on Monday, and tell them that you've done nothing to it. I understand the urge to get it working ASAP, but there's nothing user-serviceable in there, and a lot of small screws self-tapped into plastic. They're harder to take apart and put back together than an AEG. Just out of interest, does it take considerable effort to cock (it should)? And are you pulling the pump all the way back, and then is it free to go all the way forward again? I don't think there's anything useful we can diagnose, as it sounds like an issue with the trigger, not the pump action.

Mmm, Lancer are known for their budget (but decent enough) M4s. That Lancer ARP-9-a-like is a bit more upmarket than their usual fare, I'd be interested to know if it justifies the price.
-
To be brutally honest, I wouldn't spend anything on a Raven: it's the brand that even Nuprol won't put their name on. Warranty repair, or DIY it. Probably not, it looks as though something isn't engaging inside the trigger unit. At this point you might as well try and extract it, although be prepared to catch a lot of small pieces that will make a break for freedom.
-
Ahoy. I wouldn't spend a penny on the Ravens, unless you're using them as CQB primaries. But then, I wouldn't use a Raven as as CQB primary. What sort of "adjustments and customisation" are we talking here? Because if you send off a gun to a typical tech with a remit of "Make it betterer!" then it's a toss up whether you'll even get anything functional back. It's important to be clear about what they're not doing now, that you want them to do, or to do better. Semi-auto trigger response or trigger pull; rate of fire; burst fire. More power (or less), and better consistency (note that I don't say "range" or "accuracy" there, since those aren't necessarily the same thing). The ability to hop heavier BBs. Rewiring, or a shim and re-grease. Your KWA and Lancer are both reasonable spec to begin with, but aren't particularly common (and the KWA has a "V2.5" gearbox which might be a head-scratcher for techs), so I wouldn't send them to any rando. The only person I'd actually trust with anything decent is Luke at Negative Airsoft, or maybe Kingdom of Airsoft. Luke in particular can also do cosmetic customisation.

Hardly seems worth anyone's while to fake a niche product for a niche hobby, but... Chyna. I'd assume that whoever "PDI" is has just changed their OEM, or has experienced a bait-and-switch.

He charges money for pictures of old rope. -
Not quite. You still have to apply for an airgun loicence, but it's effectively an automatic add-on and only costs £5, instead of £72 for 5 years. It's shockingly close to being sensible.

There really shouldn't be a problem as long as customers are properly informed about what to expect[*], and nothing causes lasting injury. Heck, we pick up bruises and bleeders on a regular basis, and so does anyone playing contact sports, especially combat ones, so "injury" seems rather nebulous. I'm not sure what "shocked" mean, whether that's zapped (good luck finding a safe and legal way to do that), or horrified when you're handed the bill. Force feeding can sod right off though, that's got choke-hazard written all over it. I'd love to see them get liability cover for that. [*] A point I keep broken-drumming about with airsoft sites. Instead of those risible "waivers" that we all sign which mean nothing, sites would be better off investing the ink on listing the actual hazards that we're likely to encounters, their duty of care, and the limits of it. -
I know retailers have to record sales, but are they habitually collated by Central Services? Genuine question, I have no idea how it works.
-
The other key difference is that it's quicker and easier to buy the firearm than the non-firearm. Welcome to the internet, how are you enjoying your stay?

Facebook have just yeeted me because "We think you're under 13" (despite having that account for at least that long!). "Provide real world ID to get access." Nah, I'm fine, thanks. They really did me a favour there - one fewer thing to refresh every morning, seeking engagement that's really nothing of the sort. -

Oh, we've had some great rants and handbag spats about that, and particularly whether something can be both a Firearms Act 1968 firearm (airgun are a sub-category of firearm) and an imitation firearm (FA 1968 definition) or realistic imitation firearm (VCRA 2006 definition) at the same time. It's all as clear as mud, but essentially you're correct: it's easier to walk out of a shop with something shooting metal at multiple Joules than plastic at 1.1J, despite them looking identical to anyone but a hands-on observer. Airgun, airsoft, and bang-gun. Aaaand welcome to the handbagging.

Looks like To Be Decided. London rents and rates, 7 at a time, and high amount of wrangling needed, they'll have to churn them through fast, and/or charge proper money for the full waterboarding experience. -
Yes. They said that they had no record of it, as each agent handles and records their own inquiries (or lack of enquiries). We've all got a mate like that. Heck, I might be that mate, although I do try to be careful to express things as opinions unless I can cite statute or case law, or firm examples. In this case, he's talking about what could happen, not what will happen. What I will say from day-job experience is that police may check their own systems for information on an address (or known suspect) after dispatching an emergency response. They won't find a UKARA record, at least not the first time. They may find a previous incident record if it's a repeat call to some who learned nothing the first time, and that information may get to the response unit, and they may tailor their response based on it. In the past, they've shot a Scotchman with a table leg in a carrier bag. Better safe than sorry. Recently though, they've shown a lot of restraint. We've got multiple examples of that in the News section, from kids with two-tones in their own homes, student film-makers on the street, to folk actively trying for suicide-by-cop by gearing up and pointing an "AR" at them. That one got beanbagged in the balls.
