  1. Sure, but my issue is when they choose to get things so deliberately wrong, in a way that assumes the audience lacks the most minimal of knowledge, or even the basic cognitive reasoning of an average ten year old. As an audience member, it feels personally insulting.
  2. Err... "brand new Ares AEG L85A2". Listed "as new", but the title is unambiguous, and he's comparing it against new, retail prices. I wouldn't call this bloke a scammer, just a brass necked chancer operating effectively as a trader, without any warranty. It's all consensual, but a lot of grubby interpersonal transactions are.
  3. Eh. Sorry to hear that things are winding down there, but around me, Area-66, Players of War, The Depot 2.0 and Biohazard are all doing fine. Granted, Biohazard seems determined to try to run weeknight games that they keep cancelling at the last minute due to lack of numbers, but Sundays always book out. Everything is pre-book, nobody has gone back to (actual) walk-ons. Cost, yes, that's an issue. While I'm not a Poor, I do baulk at paying £36 for a Depot day. That doesn't seem to put too many other folk off though, it's busy enough, last I heard. Folk do drop out, that's the nature of any hobby. But actual game days don't depend on... influencers... turning up. Us peasants can have a great day without it being InstaFaced or used as the raw footage for some YouToob fictional production.
  4. Season 1 of Shooter is particularly egregious, given that it's specifically about the snipiest of snipers. Put the crosshairs right on the target and you hit. At any range, on any target, from any elevation, without holdover, or leading. I nearly snorted up a lung when Snipy McSniperson described .223 Remington as "a squirrel round". The thing that strikes me is that Hollywood is full of people who make content about guns, but loathe guns so much that they refuse to find out the first thing about them. And that's how you Arec Bardwin someone.
  5. Reviews unclear, watching it now to determine if it's a great film. Hmm, they're not even bothering with CGI-ing in ejecting shellazines. The bloke doing the "sniping" is comical, he's holding it like it's a rattlesnake that just bit him, and jerking it all over the place. Still seems to be hitting everything though, and every shot from Freedom calibre is an instakill. Grea- decent film though. Needs more Emily Beecham, but then everything does. Arec Bardwin - and particularly the murderously incompetent nepotism hire armourer Gutierrez-Reed - have ensured that everything is going to have winding wheels or gas valves from now on. Eh, no biggie. We get the joy of spotting them, most folk won't know the difference, and we're watching make-believe anyway.
  6. No dishonour there, that's a really well put together scam site. If I'd read this after wine o'clock, I might have joined you. They only got hyperbolic (and ungrammatical) when it came to the "hurry, hurry!" claims on the product pages.
  7. "Bring cash to a non-existent McDonalds, up a goat-track, in the middle of nowhere. Don't tell your wife where you're going, she wouldn't understand. PS Bring a shovel too"
  8. "Bring cash to a non-existent McDonalds, up a goat-track, in the middle of nowhere. Don't tell your wife where you're going, she wouldn't understand." "PS Bring a shovel too"
  9. Every time I think "is it really worth their while?" I have to remind myself that this is a hobby where people will happily pay multiple hundreds for toys, just to get a moment of unboxing euphoria. We must look like super-easy targets. Thanks for pointing out this new twist.
  10. The double shot on semi is typical of beefing up the motor and going to 11.1V, and the gears won't be helping either. It's not that anything is wrong, it's just too much right. Some folk get lucky on 11.V, but I've had double-shooting on every M100-ish gun I've tried it with. 7.4V, or a mosfet with active brake will sort it. You could try adding more factors, like a stronger spring + short stroking or even a wide-bore or shorter inner barrel, but the inherent issue is that the pixies in there are too angry now. The mis-feeding may just be mid-cap syndrome (too much spring pressure misaligning the nozzle when full, or not enough for the BBs to feed quickly enough when nearly empty), or Specnas being Specnas. Some of them are super-fussy about mags, even by airsoft "standards", as griped about here a few times. And you can't even rely on "Specna" mags feeding in "Specnas" given the variety of OEMs that they seem to use for their ever expanding range. tl;dr version, you might have to use hi-caps and/or shim the front or rear of the mags to get them feeding reliably. That's just airsoft reality.
  11. Damn, that's sneaky. Credit to the scammers, it actually looks and loads like a legit site, there are very few of the usual Chinglish warning signs. The "product" info has been well scraped from a real LOWA site. The contact email is some random outlook one, and the About page is a generic one found on many scam sites, even in the same English on this "French" site. https://www.google.com/search?q="And+if+it's+not%2C+then+hit+us+up+and+let+us+know" The domain was registered 4 days ago (at the time of writing) so LOWA won't have had time to do anything about it yet. I've let LOWA UK know, I can't see an obvious way to contact LOWA GMBH. Best of luck getting your money back.

That's the sort of thing that I'd want to see spelled out right up front - that you're selling a "quick fix, just don't have the time" project, not a skirmishable gun.
  13. Underneath, or round the back? If I'm in any doubt about new footwear, I stick some non-brandname-adhesive bandage on the back of my heel. In extremis, I've even slapped some duct tape on there to ameliorate rubbing.

It looks great (nOt a rEaL DMR CaLiBrE ThOuGh, BrO), but I'd want to know if it actually sling BBs, and if so, at what air-speed-velocity.
  15. I bet he's off to form the Airsoft Players' Union of the United Kingdom. Thanks for cat-wrangling for so long, I can't imagine there will be a big queue of volunteers daft enough to be the someone in "Why someone oughta!"
  16. I'd agree, as me. Although if I were a bitter, mediocre lawyer whiling away the hours until retirement at the CPS, I'd argue with firmly faked sincerity that if Parliament had meant the Highways Act to use the Firearms Act definition, then Parliament could and would have said so.
  17. I'm going to do a trademark pivot and say that it's great that everyone can enjoy airsoft in different ways. If you're calling your hits, and having fun, it's a win for everyone. Although I wouldn't be astonished if it's full of folk who were who in the Cadets for a few months and now call everyone brother.
  18. I expect all twenty of the blokes on the Iranian embassy balcony will be in it.
  19. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU Come on, Trading Standards, sort this out. A couple of test purchases, shut it down.
  20. Dunno, I've long since stopped following UKAPU because it was more frustrating than useful. This is down to the foibles of the Facebook algorithm deciding that I only really want to see posts from low traffic, low engagement pages days or even weeks after they've been made, even though I had UKAPU set to "top of my feed". But that is an inherent issue with using Facebook as the primary means of communication - if you're an admin or active contributor, you'll be seeing a different feed from what I was getting. As far as I can see, there's been no public posts to the Facebook page for 6 months, the Twitter account last posted in 2019, and Instagram and the ukapu.org.uk website's latest news is from 2021. If it wasn't for your posts here, I'd assume that UKAPU was effectively defunct. None of this is meant as a criticism of you or the other volunteers. I appreciate anything that you're doing, I just have no way of knowing that you are doing anything at all.
  21. Nerd stuff, related to my pretend-space-soldier costume. It's from a far future sci-fi setting predicated on absolute ideological zealotry, where the slightest digression from the approved narrative in deed or word or even suspected thought results in accusations of heresy and non-humanity. So, nothing at all like the kind, gentle, nuanced and balanced political debate of CURRENT_YEAR.
  22. Absolute rule by the living corpse of a soul-consuming God-Emperor sat upon a golden throne. No debate needed, or indeed permitted.
  23. I've joined and rejoined UKAPU over and over, but have never heard a squeak out of them, apart from seeing a very occasional self-congratulatory post on Facebook about some jolly their committee had, three weeks ago. Alternative narratives are doubtless available, and valid, but I can only speak to the truths of my lived experience.
  24. I'm not entirely sure where our super-luxury personal indulgence toys fit into any 5 Year Plans. 🤔
