Thanks Ben, I'll try out some surplus stuff first see how it performs, the South East won't be as cold as the poor buggers t'up norf. The soft shell stuff looked good but is a little more expensive. Maybe once i've got rid of more stuff on eBay and got some disposable money i'll take a look at it but if i can get the surplus stuff to work and it doesn't rain alot while saving money then that'll do me just fine.

I can't imagine it's a great idea, like the police said your not allowed to use a RIF for home defence i'd follow that advice, to be fair i don't think your allowed to use any weapon for home defence as your likely get someone try to prosecute you for just waving one around let alone using it. Best bet would be if you hear someone in the house make some noise and tell them to get out, most burglars are opportunity criminals and don't want confrontation. Spend the money instead on home insurance to cover the theft and let them take what they want. Also take every step to make sure your valuables and sentimental items and car keys are in your room with you at night.

Thanks i'll keep that in mind and look at some surplus gear, i'm not fussed about the branded stuff anyway, the surplus gear i've bought before has worked out and been fairly hardwearing the way i throw myself around at times.

So trying to work on a new loadout after getting a few things for christmas (Plate Carrier, Belt and quick release holster) Keeping my DPM trousers with DPM dump pouch and drop leg platform w/ M4 pouches for smokes. Only thing i need next is to find a proper winter proof layering, first time playing in freezing temp, I've got long johns and a compression base layer top but no proper jacket, which by the way things are going i'll need one for the next skirmish at the end of January and probably looking for something a bit like this: Soft Shell Jacket I guess the question is what do you guys use for winter proofing your loadout?

I think most places allow for melee. Or at least the places I've been. I got a rubber knife for Christmas but doubt I'll get the chance to use it that often, people have used lightsaber s before. As long as you hit them in the body and make sure the weapon flexes or collapses to avoid actually hurting someone.

I also thought this was just Air Guns and Real steel not Airsoft, there is a separate named airsoft show on at the same time at the same venue from last year according to the Facebook page www.facebook.com/TheBritishAirsoftShow But doesn't look like it's been updated since last year so I would hazard a guess and say it's not on again.

I've been looking at M14's for the last few months and finaly decided on the G&G EBR, and it is heavy, but thats more of a reason to get back in the gym I saw a lot of mixed reviews for the Cyma as well which is why i went for the G&G after selling a few things and having some extra disposable money. Though like others have said the normal M14 by TM and also G&Gs GR14 appear to have more positive reviews than the Cyma and potentially more compatible for upgrades, should you want to upgrade the internals, though i kept finding mixed information on how compatible the internals really are and i am no techie on gearboxes/motors so not 100% sure who knows what they're talking about on that.

I can't make it this weekend unfortunatly but i'm gonna add it to my list of sites i've got to go to. New Years resolution go to more sites and more games! Except for this weekend...

Sounds just like the locker rooms at every Gym/Swimming Pool. Little quiet for me at the moment only because my local sites either aren't running till the end of January or the start of March. I really need to find some more sites...

Playing the game has got to be more important surely! No point buying the gear if your not going to use it. I have only been at it for 5-6 months and have put a bit of money in to my kit (though for justifiable reasons of course!) though thats primarily down to building up kit as i went. 2nd hand surplus DPM trousers and shirt and face protection firstly, so i wasn't having to ruin my 'street' clothes when i'm diving on the floor and didn't have to wear the camo boiler suits that split your plums everytime you raise your arms to shoot. This was more of a priority for me. Then my second hand gun ended up breaking on me! So had to buy a back-up/new primary after repairing it! But no matter what you will normally find me on the front line even if i've only got a sidearm and thunderflashes left. So to answer the question, its the game not the gear that matters (though a boy can have a lot of fun with his toys).

After my only guns Hop unit broke (and finally got the parts to fix it today) I'm thinking of getting an M14 and potentially start a DMR build but finding which M14 is proving more difficult than originally thought!

Grenades are always great for stupidity, little while back, in the middle of a safe zone some guy messing around with his kit accidently pulled a pin on a dynatex with a 12 Gauge primer in it that landed at the feet of a couple other guys whose trousers got a little darker fast.

Think it was around the time a comic con convention was on, Cosplayers normally have a suitcase to keep normally clothing and a second outfit in especially if they are there for the whole weekend. He was likely on his way to the excel centre and everyone would think he was cool roaming the streets dressed up in a black uniform swinging a shotgun around.

I've been looking at getting one of these but was wondering now that it's getting colder how well does this hold up with green gas and being 0-2 degrees out.

Santa isn't likely to be bringing any weaponry my way, but might ask him for some new base layer/compression clothing for the winter months. That way i can run with a loadout like The Phantom, just need a second 1911.

I bought a CO2 handgun a month or so ago off of TaiwanGun theres probably plenty of better guns but i love the look of a 1911 and for £75-80 was affordable for me. Shoots a consistant 300FPS, good range and accuracy, bloody loud though. You will be spending 50-70p on each 12g cannister though which will give you a couple mags but it's going to vary on environment (temperature), at the moment getting just over 2 20 round mags. So take that cost into account, especially if that's your primary and your deciding CO2 or Green Gas.

Yep not the only one, got to keep things close and in place. Seems like there's a large demographic of airsoft players with a thing for feet...

There isn't really any i can honestly suggest as i don't generally use them, i've tried out some guns with ones attached and yeh it looks tacticool but it's not something i have extensive experience with, hopefully some other members can be more helpful but most laser sights will state if they are Adjustable Laser Aim Module's (ALAM). As for daylight most laser sights will work but it's always good to check reviews and see if there are any youtube videos showing it in action.

Not all lasers will give away your position unless you point it in peoples eyes, which if you are using one you best not do. But you do have to be careful, theres been a few times somone is using a laser and a smoke has been popped, as soon as that happens it's like mission impossible you can see the laser beams around corners. If you are going to get one, get one that is adjustable (allows you to zero it in so it is a practical bit of kit and not just for show) also get one that has a pressure switch if you want it only on when you apply pressure. I've never used an all-in-one jobbie so don't have any knowledge of how good these are but like i said above see if there are adjustable lasers so you know your hitting somewhere near where the dot actually is.

I'm using a ICS CXP.08 at the moment so is about the size of an MP5 with the stock retracted. Don't use any grips as I find it more comfortable with my supporting hand around the magwell especially on a stubby gun like this one. Don't use flashlights as my local places are all outdoors and during the day. I do however have a red dot and lens protector, but in CQB it can be rare I use it as it is sometimes quicker shooting by instinct at those ranges.

Having UKARA doesn't tie you down to a single site. You can play anywhere, you can technically have and play with a non-two toned gun without UKARA but is generally not advised. Also when you come to buying a gun you'll be spending £15+ on getting them to do the two-tone service without a UKARA defence. Most people, myself included, rent until achieving UKARA and making sure we are into it before forking out for our own weapons and gear. I assume you are renting the gear for the time being?

Welcome, I've only recent my got into Airsoft in the last 3 months. Word of advice, work on getting your UKARA as soon as possible, it's going to take 2-3 months for you to get registered, then you'll be ready for buying your first non-two toned RIF when the time comes.

Buy a set a hiking socks, particularly ones that are going to keep your feet warm and dry. Alot of walking socks are breathable as well, so dont think that when they say "warm", your feet are going to be roasting in their own juices all day, even in the summer. I've hiked up a mountain in Laos in monsoon season (hot and humid) and i owe the fact my feet didn't fall apart to a pair £8 hiking socks bought from Amazon (comes in a pack of 2). Also if you run with boots a decent thick pair of hiking socks will make all difference between a snug well fitted and supporting piece of gear or a lose fitting, rubbing, blister inducing nightmare.
