  1. Simple answer - Yes. As a hobby it has a wide range of players, from 30 year olds needing extra-marital adventure, snot nosed kids, students, old and bold (or maybe bald) chaps, military, ex-military, walts, chairborne warriors, etc. Airsoft could be considered as care in the community. There are also plenty of tech-heads in the game. Even going to a site solo you soon get talking to other players; I have not met anyone yet who does not like talking about guns and gear. Overall it is fun, whether skirmishing or trying milsim. Play fair, take your hits regardless what of the other team does, and get stuck in. You may get lit up like a Christmas tree and have plenty of welts for the wife to laugh at, and ache like crazy for the next day or two but you will take away memories of epic moments and classic fails. I began airsoft after a visit to my brother, where my nephew was packing his kit for a weekend away with mates. I had a look at the guns whilst he explained what airsoft was. In an instant I knew that I wanted to take up the hobby. Then began the process of researching and reading all about airsoft, and joining a forum. Just wish that I had known about it years ago and gone to my first game sooner.
  2. If you can sing then you are not working hard enough. Do the British sing? No, that is why we had an empire
  3. First milsim lite last Saturday. Off to The Mall this Thursday for some CQb action.

oooh if only I had evening games this way.................really should check...

got my first Mil-sim lite hopefully next weekend (remembered the range issue we chatted about!)

      enjoy!!

  4. As long as you can fit a LiPo battery in it with Deans connectors they rock
  5. There are some one day milsim games held on a Saturday. I was at Longmoor last weekend with 3 other forum members from our AF-UK private night at The Mall. The next one by Airborne Airsoft as part of their Total War series should be at Bramley near Basingstoke in early May. You can drive there or I can collect you from the railway station.
  6. Assume your previous thread did not answer the question of best goggles fot FAST helmet http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/30411-best-googles-for-fast-helmets/?hl=fast A quick search for some links that may help http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/29882-helmetgogglesmask/?hl=fast http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/28853-revision-bullet-ant-goggles/?hl=fast#entry225784 http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/28710-fogging-please-help/page-3?hl=fast http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/28536-face-mask-alternative/?hl=fast#entry217426 http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/28399-the-infamous-goggle-fogging/?hl=fast#entry216295
  7. The Mall is an excellent indoor CQB site and recommended. UCAP Sandpit at Dartford is a large outdoor site that provides a good mixed of terrain and buildings.
  8. Welcome . You meet fellow airsofters by going to airsoft sites and playing. Do not worry about turning up alone, most of us start out that way, and you will soon get talking to other players. We are a fairly friendly bunch and do like taliking about guns, kit, (some especially about technical stuff) and our experiences. Through this forum I have met up with several airsofters and played at different sites. So you could say that this forum is a place for lonely airsofters to meet. You do not need to be part of a team. Best bit of advice - just choose a site, rent some kit, and go play. See how you like it; I wish that I had gone sooner as it is good fun. In the meantime read the sticky posts which contain lots of very useful information, use the search function, and ask questions.
  9. The imax B6 charger is very good, buy a genuine one. I have one myself and have not experienced any issues with it. I like the fact that it balances the battery cells and also discharges the battery for storage. The audible alarm when battery is charged is loud enough to get your attention.
  10. Yes it in an old quarry site to the east, off the Roman Road. It is being slowly redeveloped but hopefully still had a few years of playing available. Worth a visit.
  11. I do not know whether such a list exists but it would be useful to have one for all counties. Have you looked at this map of sites? A good starting point: http://www.airsoftmap.co.uk/ I can recommend the UCAP Sandpit, Dartford (next to the Bluewater shopping centre) which is a massive site. http://ucap.co.uk/ucap-airsoft-venues/ucap-sandpit-venue/
  12. Have you been there, and if so would be worth a review [Edit: I do not do facebook so cannot see details from the link] Although I did note from the website that Swindon Airsoft, Badlands allows: Participant minimum age is 10 years old to play, accompanied by parent, guardian or nominated adult.
  13. There is a new site in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, so not too far away from you. I have not played there myself yet or seen any reviews of the site but is an option. http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/30024-new-site-in-wiltshire-abingdon/?hl=abingdon
  14. Have you tried The Mall? Worth considering going to Reading, only just south of Oxfordshire.
  15. H&K is Heckler & Koch, the German company behind the real G36. The brand is the maker of the airsoft gun, i.e. G&G, Tokyo Marui, SRC, Umarex, Well, etc, which could be stamped/painted on the body.
  16. Website shows it is offering paintball, laser tag, arrow tag and archery.
  17. No it was writing figuratively. I always thought that for thousands of years soldiers have been wearing helmets for protection and as part of their uniform. Now if we want to talk about tit like headwear that would be people in cars wearing babseball hats, the sign of a low IQ driver
  18. Welcome You could look at the new UCAP site - The Wing - indoor CQB based inside the former HMP Shepton Mallet, Somerset. http://ucap.co.uk/ucap-airsoft-venues/ucap-wing/ Edit: I have not yet been there but plan on going this Spring/Summer.
  19. Welcome to the forum You will find lots of useful information and advice here, as well as witty banter and threads going off topic. Krytac guns are becoming a popular choice, and there are some close to your budget. Not recommending these retailers in particular, just to used illustrate the Krytac range (not M4 per se but similar in style) http://www.patrolbase.co.uk/search.asp?q=krytac&Search=Search and http://www.landwarriorairsoft.com/krytac-m175#page2:infscr4369 I am sure there are some owners here who can recommend their Krytac guns.
  20. Power to the People! The Forum Feedback sub forum does read "Tell us what you think of AF-UK! Is there anything missing?" so it is a place to put forward ideas, whether popular or not. I raised the question late last year, in November, about having a shorter minimum character length to make searching easier. Radical I know. Also I do think it would be useful for HPA to have its own sub forum where all technical advice could reside even though I do not have any guns fitted for HPA.
  21. Could be due to using Internet Explorer, I had the same issue of not being able to quote, so installed Google Chrome and now use that to access this forum with all the functionality.
  22. Let's not forget the Black Death which arrived in Europe in the mid 14th century. Known as the plague, this was the pandemic of Yersina pestis that killed about 30% of the European population and 50% of china. Those that survived were able to pass on antibodies down the generations which meant the small outbreak of 1665 was less effective.
  23. Ebola? I would count that as a plague, so am avoiding West africa.
