I have been looking at the Tokyo Marui HK416D AEG and it is apparently powered by their 8.4v 1300mAh NiMH SOPMOD battery. The SOPMOD battery looks easy to insert / remove from the rifle stock. However, is the SOPMOD any good? Are TM using a proprietary battery designed just to give the company more money. Do I have to use SOPMOD or can it be replaced with an equivalent LIPO battery (no idea of relationship between NiMH and LIPO power outputs, or connector types). If a LIPO can be used, is it better value and have a longer battery life? Hopefully, someone has the answers.

If were going retro 80s then it has to be NATO v Warsaw Pact with 'Two Tribes' by Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

I have just googled the term speed softer and found this www.http://wikiofmom.blogspot.co.uk/2009/12/case-against-speedsoft-and-mercenary.html Basically a player who runs around "like a displaced paint baller" wIth full auto, and no real military tactics (antipithis of milsim?).

Sounds like a good excuse for arranging an AF-UK team game or event.

Best weapons for Wet/Cold weather?

My plastic knife also works in all weathers for stealth kills, day or night -
Off topic - potential for a 'themed' game night, and I could wear my new Chav Hunting morale patch

Yes, it was a light hearted entry to elicit a wry smile. Did not have any emecon (if that is what you call those little yellow smiley things) available to show that it was not a series response. Of course, two tone could be more valuable based on the fact that everyone has plain old black ones, and the blue ones are so much rarer.

Just looking at Arnies Airsoft news and there was a newsletter article from Gunman Airsoft saying that their Tuddenham site had recently experienced some arson destroying a fort as well as timber for building. Is it a common occurrence for sites to suffer vandalism? I think I read on this forum that Epson tunnels had also previously had problems with people breaking in and causing damage.

www.ukpsa.co.uk has Action Air rules and info. May be of interest / some use but I have only glanced at the site from a google search.

So that explains the specialisation of the pistols by Mike Cripps. On his Elite Shooting Centre website I have seen that they are hand-built upgraded TM Hi Capa 5.1 with examples ranging from £200-550. Probably not necessary for general airsoft skirmishes (budget depending) but the basic £200 ones looks do look reliable quality pieces, and have got me thinking about getting one over a standard version if I do want a Hi Capa in the future.

Only just seen this thread. Looks like I am missing some bargains, and from UK based sellers so am saving the P&P costs from getting stuff abroad. But that gun above (posted by TacMaster on 31 July) is two-tone, so that's got to be worth more right, as it costs extra for the paint job. Also it still has the original packaging, and we all know collectors want that - proven added value on Antiques Roadshow for the box the toy came in.

There is a guide on the forum showing how to upload photos: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/148-how-to-attach-pictures/

Things I wish I had known when I started....
Jedi_Master replied to Raggedy_man's topic in General Discussion
I am more retro. A pair of Ron Hill tracksters with a football sock stuffed down the front. Intimidates the opposition and keeps the jewels safe. -
Calling it Wargames could confuse some people, I can just see a few players rocking up at a site with their 15mm Napoleonic figures expecting a table top battle!

BB sounds soft, like a yank kid with a springer in the yard. Ball Bearing sounds harder, more metallic and dangerous. Puts us up there with other danger sports: base jumping, kite surfing, hang gliding, shadow boxing. Could have an extreme sports angle and actually use real 6mm ball bearings... definitely would call your hits then.

Skirmish shooting.

Painball ? Maybe not as may get us confused with those skirmishers running around having fun without any uniform and kit, and unable to deny being hit.

Pretty awful website though. Unless I am missing something, there was is no way to sort all the Out of Stock and Discontinued rifles from those that they actually have in stock.

Leaving keys in locks. Help me settle an argument.
Jedi_Master replied to M_P's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
I lock the doors and leave the keys out of sight in a drawer to stop letter box fishing. If they break glass on door then it is still harder to open the door without the keys. Breaking glass may wake me up but if they use a glass cutter, which some do, then no noise and a nice clean hole. Rather risk a fire than burglar / car thief getting easier access to my property. -
Not sure what you want to shoot at the range, I assume it is a live weapon. A problem with airsoft is in the name - air(head) and soft(pussy). Would advise that you leave out any reference to airsoft in communication, and just focus on the real steel aspect of range work and not playing with toy guns.

I am not sure what the 'rules' are but as ex-military I do have strong opinions on people wearing badges/rank that they have not earned. Seeing 15 year old kids and fat blokes wearing para wings can be a reason why the Army has a low opinion on airsoft (just read some of the threads on the Army Rumour Service (ARRSE) website). No doubt this can be a very subjective issue, and I do not intend stirring a flame war.

Anyone playing at Special Ops Milton Keynes tomorrow?
Jedi_Master replied to Raggedy_man's topic in General Discussion
Afraid not. As an aside, looking at the Special Ops website - you can only use their bio bb's. Is this normal for sites, to force you to buy their bb's and not allow you to use your own supply? What brand do they give you and are they any good? -
Things I wish I had known when I started....
Jedi_Master replied to Raggedy_man's topic in General Discussion
I just squeeze the air out as I lock it shut. I understand your point of removing excess air from the bag but knowing my luck a pin hole would be a point of failure, and I would find a PacMan type path of bb left behind me. -

Jedi_Master replied to Raggedy_man's topic in General Discussion
Taking a zip-lock food bag to put the bb into, which then compresses well into a pocket or pouch. Instead of running around with a half full bottle rattling like a crazy maraca every step of the way.
