Decided to make some space for the toys I've just got and those that will come in the future, first pic is the before. HK416A5 & T3 MC51 missing as they're packed up for playing tomorrow. The wall looks so bare now ?, not sure I like it TBH but until I get bigger walls it'll have to do. Every cloud has a silver lining tho... I had to tidy my mancave to do the move & take the pics. ?2 points -

Welcome to the hobby; playing with your kids is great. Mine started when they were 10 and 12; the eldest gave up years ago but the youngest still plays regularly when he is down from university. Well done on buying a sensible first gun; play with it a few times to see what you think needs improving (range, accuracy, rate of fire, trigger response etc) and then start looking at upgrades. The Advice and Technical Help section of the forum is a great place to get advice and guidance on upgrades from some very knowledgeable folk. One thing I would recommend if you do not already have them is a good pair of solid boots that support your ankles; surplus boots are excellent for this and quite cheap. As for a pistol, I would highly recommend the CO2 powered ASG XP18 commander. My son and I have been using them for a while and have found them to be solid, reliable and consistent; CO2 is also more reliable than airsoft gas in cold weather, although they struggled at -6 degrees a couple of weeks ago. Enjoy this silly hobby!2 points -

The Mechanix are a good shout. I used all sorts of cycling / motorcycle / tacticool gloves, but after finally springing on some Mechanix M-Pacts, I think they're idea for airsoft, especially in CQB. Pistols are pretty much hip decoration outdoors, but are viable in CQB and blowbacks are great fun. Do you have a brand or platform in mind?2 points

My son was 4 years old when he first shot me, sounds very irresponsible I know, but there is a backstory. Was about to attend my first game, having never been shot with an airsoft gun before I had the bright idea to let my wife shoot me, just so I didn't squeal like a piggy when it happened on site. Hand her a glock19, walk about 50 feet down the garden & turn to face her, "do it" I yelled & braced for impact? 8 shots later she still hasn't hit me, so my little boy says he'll do it, so she carefully gives him the gun & helps him hold it at arms length.........bang, first literally zips past my ear, so close it almost had a crack like a real round, I leg it towards cover, too slow, the next shot hits me in the nipple, i squeal & he thinks its the funniest thing in the world. Fast forward 23 years, hes got a 4 year old of his own, but still loves to shoot his dad, only now dad shoots back?2 points -

Hi All, Im a newbie to here and also to Airsoft in general, My eldest lad got me intrested in it and looks like I am getting hooked I purchased a starter bundle to get me going - A Nuprol Delta Pioneer Defender, seems to be a reasonable beginner weapon, and yes I know its nowhere near as good as some of the others out there, but for now it will do me fine Ive added a Red Dot sight, laser and foldable foregrip, plan on maybe putting a tracer unit on it Ive also bought some midcap mags for it Got a Dye facemask, a vest and gloves Plan on getting a pistol at some point, but that will be after I get a UKARA Go nice on me and any advice is greatly appreciated for a newbie getting into the Hobby / sport1 point -
Cloth holster ? Don't do it, they wobble in the holster, hit the mag release & bang, lost in undergrowth, you've no mag & new ones about £25-£30. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/315473449155?_skw=hi+capa+holster&epid=7033722926&itmmeta=01JJFFCZDDFHRMAZ3MGQ1VRG0Z&hash=item4973aed0c3:g:ln4AAOSwZgNmnqPv&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKn32a1IoxR7BSYW30dGVgJJgp3kLFo%2BbrAcRFs%2FN41HqOLdtCJzBPDHIpkij59XUKiB3JZIFLKyOyj1Si1v4hxtvDTU4IP9DnPtrwphTQZBiOaKc%2F1gy9BkIzCRDQ2RvIswNdmqqggJdNYN5669IkzrTTsKLfMuuVKzcrWdQon2hvvfq7JZYA0ou4dyU4KJ8i6fat4HQPot1vBcCDOf1M8n7L4Tie1VMXTPi4aVTVMFSzS7I5BVs8f5Bn5oyV80thyMYp4azsQxdMT2o4FbrwnjQJ%2BVseK1OlY2HhZXIKkcxA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR4D3s--TZQ1 point

Great choice, I've got 2 tm hi-capa's, awesome pistols, I've got others, but if I know I'm likely to need/rely on a pistol at an event, these always go in the bag. ? PS get yourself a hard shell moulded holster, either belt or molle fitting, faster draw & no lost mags.1 point

Don't be surprised if your pistol becomes your primary in cqb as the smaller size over even a SMG means its easier to move through tight spaces I've owned a couple of WE gbb pistols but that's mainly down to being after a particular model nobody else makes rather than because they're WE. It's not that they're bad, but there's better out there As the seller states it's not the prettiest, but you cant go wrong with a TM and the Hi Cappa are a popular choice for a good reason1 point -

This arrived just before Christmas but I had to leave for a holiday later that day. I wondered if it would fit my EMG Noveske N4. It does! Perfectly! https://magpul.com/enhanced-ejection-port-cover.html?mp_global_color=118 Got mine from Blue Fieldsports in UK. I've never felt such joy from a piece of gear for less than £20! Tomorrow promises to be a rainy day, so I'm going to play while it's dry, but test and set things up when it starts raining. Got the MTW to properly set up now, as well as... this newly acquired and tidied up pre-ban Tanaka m700 AICS. Spent the morning scrubbing it down with rubbing alcohol to remove cobwebs and dust, and bathing a bunch of parts in WD-40 to get the rust off, then putting in a few upgraded parts (Action Army hop unit and nub, Flamingo 60d hop rubber, Stalker 570mm inner barrel). I'll take my single HPA-tapped mag for testing, and I've borrowed a post-ban bolt from my other Tanaka m700 to test this until I get an extended nozzle in the pre-ban bolt. I've set up stock alerts for some L96 bipod adapters / bipods, but my plan to put a suppressor on it failed though. I might try modifying an Action Army outer barrel (just needs two tapped holes drilled into it), but in all likelihood I'll just keep it as is. It's a lovely piece!1 point

Cheers again, Im looking for TM then I think Theres a few in the classifieds that I could stretch my budget too, maybe will send a few messages out The WE I as interested in has been completed, just wish the seller had the manners to respond to my message letting me know Maybe its just me, but that does irk me a little1 point

I'd second the recommendation for the AAP - they just work, and work rather well. They are very cheap, but will out perform pistols three times as expensive, and a plethora of after market parts for them means you can bling them out to your hearts desire if you ever feel the urge to splash the cash. If they really aren’t your thing, then WE Glock 17s and Glock 19s are reasonably well regarded (I have a couple, and they have been great - I confess to not knowing much about the G23you mention). As said, WE's do seem to be hit or miss sometimes, but their Glocks generally appear to have a good reputation.1 point -

Ah, a lot of us do. 18 and 21 for me, and all the more reason to enjoy ourselves now. CO2 is more consistent than propane-based "green" (/red/black) gas, but I've gone gas out of pure penny pinching, as the thought of piercing CO2 cannister(s) and then not using them during a day is physically painful to Scottish sensibilities. That said, I'll go out with 6 or 7 gassed mags and rarely get through the 2nd one - this isn't a particularly sensible hobby. If you do want to go green gas, the AAP-01 is cheap, functional, gas efficient (as it's bolt rather than slide blowback) and takes readily available Glock mags. I have the AAP-01C variant (along with the usual collection of other pistols) and am happy with it. If you want to drop 3 figures then you're unlikely to go wrong Tokyo Marui - Japanese made, and often cloned. But really, whatever you like the look of is likely the best choice, although I'd stay away from Raven and Vorsk as they're both 2 levels of rebranding away from any manufacturer who cares about the QC.1 point

There was a time where you could have eeeked out £50-60 a piece from the right buyer, however, things have move on (EPM's are empiricallly better unfortunately) - you could probably sell them these days for £15-20 a piece now, but it'll be dependent on someone really, really wanting them.1 point

Welcome to the hobby and the disappearance of your bank balance! When starting out, I wouldn't make a fuss about what you've bought, just that you spend wisely, which it looks like you've done. That really sucks. It's definitely worth trying a charge back through your bank though from having a close friend who worked in liquidation of businesses that went into administration, I would advise managing your expectations to prepare for the worst. Depending on the nature of Bunker 51's debts, there are several different types of creditor who are prioritised in being repaid. Customers seldom come on the radar with the liquidation process. If the bank can't help with the charge back, you may need to resort to a Small Claims court while Bunker 51 is still being liquidated as you're considered a customer and not a creditor.1 point

Hello and welcome. As others have posted the Nuprol is a good choice for a starter gun, don't think that more expensive always means better performance. Also don't start thinking about "upgrades" till you've used it a few times. This way you'll have a better idea what you want from it Well done on avoiding the usual newbie mistake of buying a whole load of kit that you like the look of that gets used once before being consigned to the back of a cupboard.1 point -

I agree, raise the complaint & don't close it until you've got your mags (& are happy with them), or the full refund has cleared, as each transaction can only have one dispute raised. You'll be surprised how quickly companies sort things out once a dispute is raised, as technically if they get too many paypal can (but rarely does), withdraw its services.1 point

New(ish) player. Is Airsoft a social hobby?
Cannonfodder reacted to BandanaDan for a topic
Like most hobbies it can be hit and miss, pun intended. Being outdoors, getting some exercise and letting off some steam sometimes safely are all good things. But it is what you make of it really in regards to the social side. Site staff can be a good laugh and help to introduce good players to each other. Otherwise between games, just walk round and ask to have a look at someone’s gun or plate carrier. You will soon find out the chatty and friendly people from the sullen loaners. Let’s not forget though that we can all have a bad week at home or guns playing up etc. so don’t write people off after one interaction. I have made one of the best friends since my school days, which was 25 years ago through Airsoft. Friendships are very important for mental health and actually physical health according to recent studies too. As there seems to be a men’s mental health crisis, I think Airsoft and other shoulder to shoulder hobbies are perfect to help men talk to each other. Being lonely is an epidemic that is spreading hand in hand with social media craze. So use forums and such but also have face to face chats with as many people as you can.1 point -

Carillion were a construction and facilities management company, not security / guarding When they collapsed they were part of consortium a providing a number of government contracts, including infrastructure facilities management on the defence estates (less the training estate) Their success in securing all contract regions plus national housing was their failure, they bit off too much by underbidding every contract to the tiniest margin and then not being able to sustain all of them - when they failed it wasn’t the civil service suddenly getting things done quickly, but it was the consortium partner Amey (and other partners in PFI contracts) that stood up underwriting the Carillion gap Guarding isn’t / wasn’t part of the FM contracts - parts of the admin such as a clerk handing out car passes is part of the FM in some sites. ….. and as a direct result of the Carillion situation, both as a consideration of the risk when the CarillionAmey consortium were successful in all tenders and on the subsequent impact of their collapse, the next round of regional infrastructure tenders included provision that a national award of so many regions could not take place1 point

The fairly vanilla AR collection - 1. newly added secondhand TM MWS M4A1 for a Lone Survivor inspired set up (and my first foray into gas), not going full nerd as I don’t have the time or funds, needs a paint job and, if I can find a cheap one, an M203; 2. VFC HK416A5 in a configuration I’m extremely familiar with, other than the TacBelts sling and a lack of magnifier; 3. Specna DD Mk18 AEG for a more modern SOF style look. 1 and 3 for woodland games in God’s plaid/tan or MultiCam, 2 for indoor/CQB wearing black. At some point, there might be a CQBR if I can find and afford a second MWS upper.1 point
