Hi all,

We're trying to cut down the overall cost as much as possible. The red colours indicate what we see essential to going.

If you can find anything cheaper anywhere or can point us in the right direction for getting this more efficient etc don't hesitate.

Thanks,

James.

Im guessing that youre looking for opinions?

First off, that mask is awful and over priced. I got the mesh/padding one for £7 posted.

If you are going to stay interested in airsoft then i would spend a little more on a RIF than the combat machine, as you will very likely to be wanting to upgrade; although it isnt a bad RIF

But its all upto you. Its your money.

Do players still use NiMH batteries? Thought everyone had gone over to LiPo ones.  Try Component Shop.

May cost more but would only recommend the iMax B6 balance charger, and a must have if using LiPo batteries.

Going too cheap is not always a good idea, can be false economy when spending a little more will get better quality products.

You want to save money then scrap the webbing and spare magazines, you can play on a single hicap.

I wouldnt skimp on the glasses/battery/charger if your serious, a decent charger like jedi reccommends an imax b6 will charge anything you want it to and a lipo is a significant upgrade over nimh and not much more expensive.

If its a group of you then you could save by sharing the charger amongst you.

Alrightly.... scrap everything there: it all sucky sucks.

1st: find a gun you like

2nd: dye i4 mask is a one for all solution, or a one tigris lower mask paired with decent goggles or specs so that you can aim with sights.

3rd: get this in your preferred colour: https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/8fields-tactical-compact-multi-mission-chest-rig

4th: buy an imax b6 off ebay, make sure it is a legit one. Buy this 7.4v: https://www.componentshop.co.uk/7-4v-1300mah-25c-continuous-discharge-cranestock-lipo-battery.html

5th: buy some deans connectors, strip your gun to the gearbox, go to a workshop and solder them on.

6th: as for mags, you only need 1 high cap or 2 mid caps with a speed loader.

Pretty much this.

Try RoE Airsoft for the CM16 raider... it was £99.99 this summer.

Dye i4 face mask from BZ paintball, (£59ish) this mask will save the hassle of fogging and getting a good mesh between goggles and mask.

Chest rigs- pass, I’m not experienced or enthusiastic about these. Anything that holds your mags is good enough- I use a belt.

Imax B6 AC from Hobbyking- genuine only. Try Component shop if not.  Definitely go towards lipos, difference is night and day, invest in a bat safe between you guys to store the batteries when not in use.

Deans is the first “upgrade” you should make to any gun- get the shop to do this if your worries about it.

Search the forum- there is a lot of info on here already, there is a huge thread on STANAG mags and what’s decent for the money.

Pretty much as above.  Go lipo, go for a half-fabric mask, and I'd go with goggles rather than glasses for safety reasons.

The G&G is a great gun.  The short versions will be just as accurate as the long, and handier in CQB.

However, if you want to save every penny, I will note that the cheapest CYMA M4s are actually usable out of the box, and come with a nimh battery and a dumb charger which might not burn your house down.  They're easily upgradable later: adding a ZCI barrel + ZCI rotary hop unit + maple leaf rubber still works out cheaper than the G&G, and those are the only components that the BB cares about in terms of accuracy - it doesn't know or care if the rest of the toy gun is made of recycled milk bottles, or pure unobtanium.

However to the however, the G&Gs feel much nicer, work better out of the box, and if your budget stretches to one that's what I'd go with.

Do you have UKARA, or will you be buying 2-tone?

So battery wise I found this:

https://www.componentshop.co.uk/7-4v-2600mah-25c-continuous-discharge-cranestock-lipo-battery.html - about 10 pounds more but it has more charge on it and would definitely last all day by the sounds of things.

If not, I'll go for the one frizzle posted https://www.componentshop.co.uk/7-4v-1300mah-25c-continuous-discharge-cranestock-lipo-battery.html

Does anyone know if these definitely fit in the crane stock of the raider L?

As said above, spare mags and rig I wont be getting in order to save money. I'll just carry a bottle of spare bbs as someone on here used to and that worked pretty well with just the one 450 round mag.

With regards to the 'deans' connectors I need to do more research on that, after exam season. Do I need these in order to use a LiPo battery? I didn't realise I could actually use a LiPo on the CM16 as I thought it only took NiMh. On the link for the battery, there are options for Deans, mini deans and a tamiya?

Charger wise, the plan of one charger between us sounds good:

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/imax-b6-50w-5a-charger-discharger-1-6-cells-genuine.html?___store=en_us

2-tone.

Unrelated to the quote, but I'll only be using it for about a year before enlisting so hence the cost and upgrades I'm keeping to a minimum as I don't want to overspend without it seeing the use to make it cost effective.

You want a Nunchuck style battery.

Something like this perhaps?

Stay away from nuprol batteries. The ones I purchased died within a year. Look for something similar on componentshop.

Struggling to find somewhere with Nunchuck batteries in stock, such as this one http://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/2600-mAh-7-4v-25c-Nunchuck-LiPo-Battery-Pack_A10WK6.aspx#.XC5Ka1z7S00.

This thread seems to have a lot of advice with battery types and seems like cranestock batteries work fine? So does that mean I'm ok to go without nunchuck and just get the cranestock ones?

Perhaps get two of these:

https://www.componentshop.co.uk/7-4v-1450mah-25c-continuous-discharge-cranestock-lipo-battery.html

As the thread creator did for that link.

I'll probably get the same charger (one recommended by frizzle etc) however, as the ones recommended through that thread are out of stock.

It seems that I need a mini-tamiya connection thing for the batteries to work with the raider L.

For goggles:

https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/bolle-safety-tracker-platinum-smoked-airsoft-safety-glasses

Read on here there's are quite a good pair and 'F' rated

But if anyone thinks these won't cut it, please speak out I don't want to lose an eye with this.

I can't speak for the brand as I have no idea but I'd opt for two 1450mah. Two reasons; it's more likely to fit your stock and secondly; two batteries will last a full day with no drop in performance. You can just swap it out at lunch. You may get a full day out the larger battery  but it will be a tighter fit and may not actually last a day which would be a bummer. The latter being most important and/or likely. Charging on the fly isn't great IMHO.

Mask is fine. You may want to bend the mesh to fit your face and eye pro better.

Charger is meh.... it'll work but there's a lot better out there as others have mentioned above. Some may say better as in safer as well as having more onboard options/features.

People use them, I don't. No real basis for why I don't other than I don't like them, and my eyes are worth more than £12.99

They should do the job however. I do recall videos of Bolles being shot and they did stop the round but were knackered because of it whereas other glasses and goggles out there will take a round with no marks at all. It's all extreme testing so not realistic in some ways, just stress tests which don't replicate a game situation (nobody gets repeatedly shot point blank in the eye with a bolt action rifle.. lol ) so it's your call. Like I said plenty of people use them, I simply don't.

My friend bought seconds before this arrived but I think he'll be fine with the battery. With regards to the fit, I guess we'll  find out and I'll pray.

Yeah sorry about that we're trying to find the cheapest on everything.

I have to wait to convince my dad tomorrow but thanks for the help none the less. I think everything is about the same anyway just different sites. - Only change was https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07GVBFLP3/ref=sspa_dk_hqp_detail_aax_0?psc=1
