40 Mike Gas Shell - 150 BB's in 0.3sec

Recommended Posts

I think only one thing matters and thats what happens if you go to a marshal - whether or not you've been shot with the 40mike that day (when you know one's in play) and speak words to the effect of "I don't consent to playing airsoft with the 40mike in use, can you please have it removed from play?"

If they say yes then great. If not then you either go home or you go home.

MED isn't bullshit if it's applied properly

And communism would be wonderful if it were applied properly.

See the previously linked video for why idealism fails when it interacts with reality.

Most of us will have been hit by a sniper inside their MED, or full auto'd at close range.  Humans are fallible, and the ability to spunk 80J in 1/3rd of a second is going to end badly for someone.

yes and i've seen people lose teeth and nearly lost the odd fingernail among the way, i've been hit by hot fast hpa's, point blanked in the back of the head by "team mates", suffered 12 guage bfg's in buildings and hell at one point someone let off what i can only describe as a small artillery shell by the noise it made.

if it wasn't at least a bit dangerous it wouldn't be fun. and we're each responsible for our own personal safety, some of us choose to just wear glasses and we have to accept that trade off, there are always options.

if you as an individual are really concerned about this sort of thing then go for the full paintball mask or even the full helmet, or just leave if someone's planning on fielding something you don't like, i've left sites who had a culture of running hot guns in full auto (although more because it was only the owner's cronies got to dodge the chrono)

You previously objected about violence against players; yet you now condone unacceptable behaviour.  Or maybe not being serious, hard to tell but does seem ironic...

Inserting it into ones ringpiece is the most peaceful way I could convey my upset.

Of course I'd do that.  However, I don't want to have to, which is why I'll be strongly advocating against them being used at my local sites.

Have you ordered yours yet?

Good review, has actually convinced me that this could be used well if in a controlled situation, for instance using MED. Personally I like not having MED, especially in CQB but I hink in the case of snipers and stuff like this, it is needed.

As with all things in airsoft it'll depend on the terrain how suitable it is.

Unlike snipers this is meant to be a backup, so much less likely to have a scenario of jumping the user.

@Rogerborg haven't ordered mine yet, havent been the the local yet. Dont worry, i'll be sure to get it running in the kill house :P

I've done a 180 on this, if used like described in that video then I feel these would be fine.

I mean, as others have said, any airsoft rifle up close/point blank hurts, it's about respect and fair play at the end of the day. I think that is why when a game day goes well it fills you with joy.

Thanks @Duff, before I had it I was very much prepared to say it's not safe, but as things started coming together and once I saw Airsoft Action's Angelo fire it in his garden I was feeling a lot more confident about it.

That Socom video while very cool to watch, was on recalled glasses - something that he states in the description.

It sets an MED, even on the sticker of the device - recommended at 30ft (10m) and it shouldn't be used in CQB.

I'm not sure if you saw this, it was a second trailer to explain the full details of the 40 Mike after their first one went viral for all the wrong reasons.

As I said before, I think we should all be a little more open-minded until we see it in person for future.

If your site owner can be convinced to try it in person, I have my one that I'm more than happy to send to them to test and review before passing along. Just get them to contact me on here, AN Facebook or email - [email protected] - I've got no horse in this race, but I do have one in the stables others can try :)

Wait, you mean someone's changed their mind on the internet!? This literally never happens! :P

my argument is based around how i'd use it, at long range and significant elevation rather than a flat shot, i'm very much interested in being able to shower an area 100ft away than rail someone up close.

for sure if i saw one at a cqb site i'd be ensuring the marshalls have it out of play or if not i'd be leaving with my money, but outdoors i'd give the benefit of the doubt (until some knob uses it too close in which case i'd cheer his walk of shame going home)

Just goes to show presntation can make or break a product.  If they had led with this then it would not have generated so much of a backlash.  Though in the end it might work out better for them in the long run, as everyone is talking about it, in a few months the furor will die down.

I still think it is dangerous though, and I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end.

Cheers

I'm actually a lot less concerned about being hit with one. Gtech took it quite easily even at close range and the marks from the impact left on the skin were no worse than any other CQB shot. If people are going to spend money on grenade launchers then they should have usable ammo for them. I haven't seen any other moscarts work as "well" as the mike, albeit viewing on Youtube and not in person.

Most pyro I’ve seen doesn’t even burst the cardboard it’s contained in. Unless it’s held in a closed hand, I can’t see it doing anymore than some potential burns

Why'd you think i want a couple for investment, when more people come around and demand skyrockets.

On the subject of dangerous 40mm grenades. What are peoples views on the TAG impact grenades? not sure if its been discussed before but I guess it could be categorised as just as/more than lethal than the 40 Mike.

TAG rounds aren’t designed/marketed to be fired directly at people. Also no more powerful than a MK5 supposedly.

I’ve no issue with being hit by one of them

Id love to see either of these in a game. Wish they wernt out right banned by sites (the 40 Mike) ebfore even being used/tested.

I think that first video published didnt help it at all but i defiently think it serves a use just the the TAG rounds do, and Hope that in the future sites remove the ban on the grenade.

I asked a marshal today about whether there was any danger of us seeing 40-Mike rounds at our CQB site, and he just laughed and laughed and laughed.

certainly round here, last big game there were plenty of 40-mikes in operation and nobody was losing their marbles over their use, although ironically i did catch one person complaining about his son getting headshot with a pistol and i'm like "it's a 328fps limit, most pistols are below that, there's no med and if his head's the only bit the guy can see what the hell'd you expect him to shoot at? just be grateful it wasn't someone like your team mate running around point blank hosing every goddamn bush at 70rps with his drum mag polarstar that did it"
