will check tomorrow mate as working tonight, its a while since I did it, seem to remember using 2 or 3 consecutive sizes telescoped into each other as one end is smaller diameter, think I superglued them together, or maybe soldered, I forget lol.

Thats a bugger about the barrel not fitting, must admit I hadn't realised there were different fitting types on AKs. IIRC I made my outer barrel from brass tube stock bought from a model shop which is a really good fit in the TM clone receiver and the TM gas block/foresight, and its hidden in the foregrip anyway, but can still be removed in the same way a TM barrel can. I liked that railed ICS Galil upper housing, only concern would be the wobble that afflicts AK type topcovers, though if it could pivot from the rear sight block that would at least keep it stable. The Dboys 74u uses the same idea, wish I'd taken more notice of how it pivots up and clear of the sight block (I also wish I'd bought the dam thing now lol). How did you get on with fitting the skeleton grip in the end?

When you say you've removed the shims do you mean the one at the base of the motor in the pistol grip, or from the gearbox?

Receiver engraving by airsoft machine shop - experience?

I specified engraving rather than etching. Still waiting for a reply re whether they then can refinish receiver or if they colour in the engraved parts only. -
Receiver engraving by airsoft machine shop - experience?

Quote I had for an LR300 full trades, logo etc was £30 plus £5 return postage. -
Got a TM M9 and KSC Glock 23. M9 is a physically slightly bigger gun, shoots superbly and is a great looking gun even with the fixed HOP. My 23 is an old plastic slide version, but insane on full auto and easier to stow in a pouch than the M9. If you don't have big hands the Glock will prob suit you better, coupled with full auto capability (in which case buy lots of mags, you'd need them lol). If accuracy is important I'd for TM, though metal slides feel nicer weight tbh. As said by others try both if you can?

Alpha55's wooden admin building in the safe zone got torched last year, meaning no covered area and loss of a lot of equipment. Games were quickly up and running again using a gazebo instead. Players got involved in helping with the clearup and there are now 2 large portakabins, as well as new barricades etc in the woods. People seem to pull together when the brown stuff hits the fan. Keep your chin up Sam, fantastic that you were able to get things running so quickly again, even if it takes time for normality to return.

Anyone had any issues posting a RIF to Northern Ireland? I assume the law there around RIFs is the same as rest of the UK? Cheers.

Jeez! 5 stalls? And still charging £12? Unbelievable.

Absolutely. Totally agree with you. I'd feel the same. If it is poor, no doubt people will kick off and quite rightly. I guess comments will be forthcoming this pm!

That sucks mate. Although I know its hard to organise something like this having arranged exhibitions in the past (not airsoft related). You have to plan probably a year ahead, get invites out to traders etc who invariably take ages to confirm they will attend (and who don't pay a deposit or anything until the show), and also advertise the event as widely as possible, again months before the actual event based on what you hope will be a full exhibition hall (and pay for said advertising). Granted real time advertising gives up to the minute info but that can and does work against the organisers if, as in this case, traders etc drop out. Traders must have cause for concern if they are pulling out, most likely around numbers of advance tickets sold, as it costs a company like Airsoft World thousands for a stand for the weekend with stand fees, transport, wages, hotel costs etc so they need to know punters will be flocking in. Say it costs a company £1000 in total for a stand for the weekend, they will need to sell around £4000 of gear at retail price just to break even, without making a profit. They do these shows to lift their profile, make a good impression and get follow on orders over the coming months so it HAS to be worth their while in terms of numbers through the doors. Several companies getting jitters and apparently pulling out does not bode well. I really hope the expo is a success or it most likely won't happen again in future as the organisers are also a commercial concern who need to show a profit. NH Shooter, suggest you ask for a part refund based on some of the listed stands and facilities being withdrawn? Unlikely you'd get a full refund unless the Expo was cancelled completely I expect. I will be interested to hear how the Expo goes, I would love to go but can't sadly.

Gears destroying my pistons in a few seconds, any ideas?
straffham replied to LeoGaunt's topic in Electric Guns
when you re-assembled the gearbox did you check the piston movement ie using a thin screwdriver or similar inserted via the air nozzle? I've known the occasional piston be too tight in the gearbox, but it only shows once the gb is screwed shut hence why I always now check this as above. What gun is it from and what else have you changed in the gearbox? As Mack says if you,ve upped the spring/torque/speed then this can happen if something isn't set up 100%, although it doesn't usually happen the first time you pull the trigger which is what makes me suspect the piston not moving correctly. -
Has anybody ever changed the shape/ formation of a battery?
straffham replied to LeoGaunt's topic in Electric Guns
+1 for Component shop. I've had custom batteries made for PEQ's etc as I still use old school NiMh's. Very good service, only cost a couple of £ more than equivalent standard batteries. Plus you get a warranty. Did modify and solder a battery pack once, went fine using good flux and solder but its not ideal tbh. -
Welcome to the forum! I'm from Prestatyn,my son and I usually play at Alpha 55 near Northop as it suits our play style.

£5 Marui hop rubber and nub, plus a ZCI / Core / Madbull tight bore barrel. Works for me!

airsoft sites wirral liverpool North wales??
straffham replied to HitEmUp's topic in Skirmish Sites, Stories & Reviews
Alpha 55 near Northop is my regular site, its woodland, good mix of players, also there is Ex-site near Mold which is MASSIVE but hilly size wise and Zed Adventures: The Manor near Warrington for mix of CQB and woodland. Can't link sorry but all on Google & Facebook. All a good day, lots of walking involved at Ex-site though. -
From the OP the bit inside the spring appears to be the front part of the spring guide which has come unscrewed from the rear. The screeching does indeed sound motor height related, unless a ball bearing or something else is floating around the GB, or maybe piston stripped caused by jamming?

Errrrr fellas thread is best BAD war films lol, just remembered The 70s original of The Inglorious Bastards -not the Tarrantino version - its really comically bad!
-
D'OH! Yeah could well be, but another outlet for starter packs at least.
-
Just to throw in the mix, been reading latest AI mag, Airsoft Zone are doing a newbie 2 tone CM16 starter pack deal for £139.99, comes with gun, battery, charger, Blaster BBs and face mask. Can't link direct but website is www.airsoftzone.co.uk Also do gun only for £99.99. Never used them before but it sounds a good deal.

broke my new gun in the first 10 seconds :(
straffham replied to Dan88's topic in General Discussion
Bit of a bugger that! Short of finding another outer barrel about the only thing you could do is find a piece of brass tube from a model shop that fits snuggly in the outer barrel and araldite it in place, and araldite the end piece onto that, though you'd probably have to cut a couple of inches off the inner barrel too to do it unless the brass tube wall is thin enough to fit inside the outer barrel but also allow the inner barrel to pass through it which is unlikely tbh. Its a bodge in any event. Maybe try a post in the wanted section? I imagine a new Classic Army outer barrel won't be cheap unfortunately, even if you do find one. -
Get them to sort it under warranty. As long as all you've done is adjust the motor height screw after the problem started you shouldn't have any issue.
-
Yeah I agree, its the mutts nuts, and MUST be done, no one else will have one the same, that's for sure! Nice work Monty! Although using the foregrip may be tricky with using a drum mag?
-
As youve established you'll need to pay for a new slide why not drop Firesupport a line? They do carry Marui parts and might be able to get one for you, or even have one in the shop. Worth a try at any rate mate.
