  1. Hi mate, I'm in Prestatyn so not too far. I believe OTT Airsoft are based on Anglesey, and there's Shock and Awe at Abergele, Alpha55 at Halkyn (my regular site) and Ex-site near Mold (can't link but all have Facebook pages). Pistolwise I prefer TM as they shoot so well but being all plastic they're not everyones cup of tea, comes down more to whether you want one that shoots superbly or looks/feels more realistic. TM hi-capas are popular but all their GBB's are good. WE's all metal pistols are popular too in fairness.
  2. I'm off to smear my DPM's in custard, no more hit taking for me lol! (yes I'm kidding. . . . .)
  3. If its brand new take it back to shop you bought it from and get them to take a look under warranty, don't dismantle it as that will void your warranty. Though as said it does sound like a mag feed issue.
  4. They have games virtually every Saturday and Sunday, website is at www.iwantago.co.uk/about-us , (can't link direct off my phone sorry) shows gamedays and can book in/contact through there too. Hoping to get up there myself next Sat. They do have hire kit if required too but needs to be booked in advance if so. Be good to meet up if you get up there mate.
  5. You should be able to download the user manual with diagrams from Ares? Thats what I did with. my M60 and M4 at any rate.
  6. Toy guns, takes me back, anyone else have any of those Italian Edizione Galactoli (I think thats what they were called) cap guns when you were kids (talking early 80s here lol)? Laughable to think they'd be classed as rifs now!
  7. standard TM Hi-capa has an alloy frame, not steel surely? Edit: +1 for TM 1911. Wouldn't be without mine.
  8. No worries mate, yeah would be good to get there myself. Shock and Awe is on an old MOD site and IIRC has some good props like a real decomissioned missile launcher vehicle: there was a review in Airsoft Action about a year ago. Yeah Alpha55 is at Halkyn just off the A55 (hence the name obviously), I like Alpha as its usually really laid back and friendly, and good mix of age groups, abilities and players from noobs to sniper pro's lol, and decent sized site. Also doing a few pistol only games now which is a nice change, I was there for the summer social pistol tournament which is basically a one on one skirmish around and in a building, really funny moments as a spectator when players are diving out of a window, or when they both reach the same corner and you can see whats about to happen lol!
  9. which gun is that mate, Galil? EDIT scrolled back and realised its the Tar21, not one I'mfamiliar with tbh sorry.
  10. I have the Cyma one, uses their V3 gearbox which is strong and reliable, though had to downgrade the spring as it was firing 400fps ootb, so reshimmed it and relubed whilst at it, and fitted a TM hop rubber. It shoots superbly now.I also semi permanently fitted a 9.6 battery pack in the foregrip as I dislike stick batteries. The new pack fits no problem. The only issue I had was the (obviously unlicensed) trades had been lasered off the receiver leaving bare metal in places, these I touched in with dark grey paint. On the same issue the box lid was turned inside out, inside is a full colour pic of the gun showing the trades! Otherwise its a great gun, at £170 its virtually half what a KingArms or ICS would cost (last time I checked) so I didn't mind a few small jobs. Like the King Arms the fire selector on the left side is a dummy moulded into the grip, whereas the ICS has it fully functional IIRC, which would be better since the stock folds to the right side across the AK style selector. The supplied hi cap works perfectly, not had any issues at all. Basically its a good gun if you don't mind a little diy, if money is no object then either of the other 2 will be nicer externally at least ootb.
  11. Have a look at the "Northwest Airsoft Alliance" facebook page, also Shock and Awe's facebook, usually have a lot going on. Alpha55 sometimes run milsim themed games but usually one day. Both above siteds also do away games eg to Catterick and other sites. I usually play at Alpha, not got round to S&A yet though as their games are on Sundays as a rule which is difficult for me.
  12. Surprised its not been mentioned but how about a slightly older loadout using a Galil? ICS, Kingarms and Cyma all make good reliable guns, bit more interesting than an M4 too (ducks for cover from incoming flak)! Desert Eagle for a sidearm maybe? Or for CQB a UZI? Even an FN FAL or Sterling SMG would be legitimate depending on era. Further back still, when the IDF formed they used pretty much any WW2 guns they could lay their hands on, Stens, MP40s, bolt action rifles etc if such things interest you?
  13. Gaugemaster are worth a look (in Arundel, West Sussex, but they offer free postage over £15 iirc). They are mainly model railways but do a massive array (claim to be biggest retailer in UK) of scenic stuff and the superb Preiser military HO scale figures, as well as other military kits, paints etc. Always had great service from them, been around for donkeys years. Their website is easy to use and massive.
  14. Yeah thats something I hadn't considered tbh!
  15. Cheers, yeah mosfet is a possible future addition once I'm used to using the gun in semi only, if I find the trigger response still needs improving, but the mechanical means looks the way forward certainly as a first step as don't want any chance of it reverting to full auto with a 400+fps spring.
  16. Cheers for that, very helpful, and I guess if it was needed to convert back to full auto at some point I'd just need a new selector plate. I hear what you're saying about the mosfet being able to be reprogrammed and possibly technically not being allowed without a mechanical semi only setting, guess only way marshalls would know would be to catch you red handed if someone tipped them off, but can't see them asking you to dismantle your gun somehow? As the gun isn't currently running a mosfet this mod looks like the way forward anyway, with the possibility of a sector gear monitoring mosfet at some point (though it does have good enough trigger response as is for my old & slow skill levels!)
  17. Ok I've just about finished a full internal upgrade on my M16A3 (tbb, helicals, hi torque motor, quick change spring etc) with the idea of using as a DMR. Currently running sub 350fps just to get used to using it semi auto, but with ability to switch to full if it gets too annoying lol! Anyway question I have is if I go the whole hog to 400+fps how do people lock their gearboxes to semi only? Just via a mosfet, or by some physical means? Cheers.
  18. No need for apologies, you've had bigger issues to deal with, great that you will be able to get back to some games too!
  19. yeah tbh if it ain't broke don't fix it. Really annoying if you put it back together and find you've lost the anti-reversal latch spring. . . . JG's I've bought (M4s rather than G36s admittedly) usually come in around 360-370 fps which is a bit too hot for most sites, 390 almost def would be so best to get it chrono'd.
  20. Canonly say its worked for me for last 10 years lol
  21. Ok, so the outer barrel mentioned above consists of 2 brass tubes, inner diameter if the INNER one is 15.25mm, outer dia of the OUTER one is 16.5mm measured using my digital caliper. the inner tube sticks out of the outer tube where it fits inside the Spets type gas block, but I still had to cut a slot using a hacksaw across the diameter to make it a tight fit in the gas block, which is attached using the original screw under the gas block.. At the receiver end the tubes are flush, and a hole was drilled through to allow the original single point fixing to be used (light grey bit in pic below): The outer barrel has a tiny bit of movement where it fits in the Cyma 028 front end, mainly due to the OEM fixing method, ptfe tape would probably sort this (next size bigger tube is too big) but its not an issue in my gun as rigidity is provided by the hexagonal original bar (seen in the pics) which I have drilled and is pinned into the gas block. Hope this helps!
  22. Welcome to the forum from a fellow Welshman, there are several topics on GBB rifles on here, enjoy!
  23. Just a heads up folks, don't mean to be alarmist but beware that most, if not all Parcel carriers &couriers (including Parcelforce/RM, MyHermes, DPD etc) prohibit sending anything containing gas cylinders. This includes ANY GAS OPERATED airsoft guns (or that are DESIGNED to use self contained gas cylinders- magazines are classed as gas cylinders), CO2 bulbs, gas canisters etc. If discovered there is a good chance your parcel will be destroyed and you will not be compensated. I have today had an email from parcelforce confirming that even if gas inlet valves are removed it is still regarded as a gas cylinder and would be treated as dangerous goods. Obviously this is only relevent if your parcel is discovered EG x-ray scanned, such as at ports/airports (I was enquiring about sending a gas pistol to N.Ireland) but doesn't rule it out in Mainland UK either. So if you post a gas gun in a private sale deal please be aware it is a lottery as to whether it will reach its destination, regardless of whether sent as a special, signed, tracked or insured package. Business users ie retailers have their own agreements in place to get around this. I'm sure this thread will be filled with "but my gun arrived fine" replies and thats great. It is purely to warn that you are entering a lottery. One guy on another forum had his 1911 GBB destroyed with no compensation and is currently seeking recompence, not a situation anyone wants to be in but it shows it can happen. Note this only relates to gas guns; AEGs and Spring powered guns are fine with Parcelforce at least, but not all carriers (batteries are another dodgy minefield area however, best not to send them, especially with a gun). I am really annoyed at this situation but there it is. This is not an exhaustive list and senders are advised to CHECK that what you are sending is ok with the carrier as the onus is on you, not them.
  24. Once fitted onto the inner barrel I put a little silicon grease on the outside of the hop rubber only, before sliding it into the hop unit. It should slide in easily, not too tight or loose (insert inuendo gags here lol). This allows the hop rubber a degree of movement during increasing/decreasing the amount of hop applied compared to fitting it dry, which can result in overstretching of the rubber in worst case scenario.
