  1. Medal of Honor(2010) played a lot better than Warfighter both in single and multiplayer. It seemed to go from feeling like it's own game to a more generic style, whilst the buddy system was a good idea I didn't like the overall game.
  2. What Monty said, only issue you could have would be flashing it around in public which it sounds like you aren't silly enough to do given you asking the question about owning a RIF. If on the off chance you got stopped by the police on the way to a skirmish and after searching your car found your gun it would be the same as someone being caught with a tool that can be used as/considered an offensive weapon - i.e. you have a valid reason to be carrying it, which you justify to the police.
  3. I'm pretty sure the boxes have dynatex on them so they probably are.
  4. Most of the regulars at Xsite use these, seem to work really well. Going to get one myself to compliment the Ohshiboom: http://www.xsiteshop.co.uk/Original-BFG-Blank-Firing-Grenade.html
  5. TM HK45, been meaning to write a review for ages but I'm too lazy. I've always liked the H&K pistols and it performs really well.
  6. 2 Ohshibooms, thanks for the heads up on the sale Cheeky Vimto
  7. That's true, the sound effects are brilliant too. It's a shame that I think it's the IDF vs Palestine camos look like sandy vs kinda sandy
  8. Project reality is fantastic, I just wish it was on a more detailed engine. Some of the maps have teams with very similar camo and the BF2 engine just doesn't lend itself to distinguishing between them. A few of the factions play like DPM vs US woodland with low res textures. I'm hoping PR2 delivers as the BF2 version is nearly perfect it just could benefit from some graphical fidelity.
  9. I've tried to get some mates to play Verdun as it's definitely better in a group but none seem interested. Path of Exile is worth a shot if you like action RPGs as the free to play model is spot on. You only pay for cosmetic items and little perks like bank space even though you get tons by default. I'd still recommend DayZ mod running overpoch over the standalone as it has far more features including base building. Military loot is a lot more prevalent, but to be honest after playing DayZ for a couple of years I recognise how the current format is essentially a good PVP game and not a whole lot else.
  10. Mount and blade is really well done and there's a Napoleonic wars mod if that's your sort of thing. I haven't played it in a while but Verdun is worth checking out. It's a WW1 FPS made by a small studio with pretty solid shooting mechanics, similar to the original COD games. The developers are constantly adding updates and conversing with the community. The gameplay features a lot of trench warfare with a nice push/pull mechanic tied to it.
  11. Surely you can hear the hits when they plink off your plate carrier? I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people wearing plate carriers don't have a problem with it.... Also the vast majority of hits will be on your arms and head unless you do something very odd. Outside of standing in the open or someone breaking your cover they are the first/only areas that can be hit. People wearing baggy or padded clothing(hoodies and jackets) also run the risk of making it hard to notice hits. I've had to tell players on my own team they've been hit, where they were people I knew so unlikely they were knowingly ignoring hits. I'd say wear what you want, just be mindful you might need to pay slightly more attention to hits the more you have covering you. We could all wear lycra shorts and a tank top but it would be a bit weird
  12. Eh don't go to absolute airsoft if they are who you are referring to. Xsite Lane End(just outside High Wycombe) and The Outpost(Dunstable/Tring way) and the Mall(reading) are much better options. Also welcome to the forums, I'm based just outside High Wycombe so probably have the same sort of area to pick from as far as sites go.
  13. Sounds like the police are as much to blame as the boy, although the police don't have the excuse of being 12.
  14. The most sensible thing would be to play some games and see what you would like to improve or change. Failing that buy a nice pistol You could always ask for money for Airsoft related stuff.
  15. There will be some variation between the manufacturers clock speeds as far as graphics cards go. If you are looking at an overclocked model vs a stock one it could be quite considerable. Stock 970s are still great cards so I guess it depends how important the colour coordination is to you,
  16. I wouldn't get a water cooler at all unless you are looking at overclocking as it's massive overkill. Not to mention the radiator fans they come with are rubbish and noisy so really need replacing from the get go. Even if you did want to moderately overclock something like: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-025-AL is way better value for money. Watercooling really only comes into it's own when you are looking at really pushing how far you can overclock a rig. I would recommend you don't overclock at all as you can get a great stock rig in the £700-£1000 bracket. Plus in the nicest way possible you aren't very experienced with building If you do feel adventurous somewhere down the line and want to overclock i'd suggest keeping it simple, get a decent air cooler and a case that can chuck a load of air through it. Something like this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-203-CM Recently built a PC for a friend and used one of those cases and it's very nicely laid out.
  17. As above touch the case to ground yourself, don't worry about getting an anti static strap - they are a pain in the arse and modern components aren't THAT sensitive to static discharge. Provided you don't crack out the woolly jumper and balloon Try to avoid touching the contacts on the RAM and graphics card. Also cases have these little brass(I think) risers that space the motherboard away from case and the motherboard has screws that line up with them. Figure out where you need to screw the risers in, which should be easy as it's based on the motherboard form factor - which will almost certainly be ATX. There are a load of techniques for applying thermal paste, main ones are spreading it or putting a small blob in the centre of the CPU. whichever you use don't apply too much as you run the risk of it getting into the CPU socket. You can confirm the CPU cooler is seated properly and your thermal paste is applied properly by running prime 95 and checking how high the temperature rises once everything is installed. It's a very good experience, albeit a daunting one if you have never done it before. Good thing is most of the stuff you can do wrong will just mean it won't boot or things like the case power button won't work. All the cables will only fit one way so it's a case of running through everything making sure it has a cable plugged into it as necessary.
  18. You just need to match up the socket number/model. Z97 accepts socket 1150 chips, the tech specs for CPUs and motherboards always tell you which socket they are. Funnily enough I have exactly that keyboard and mouse. The Deathadder is easily the most comfortable mouse I've ever used(which is a lot over the past 15+ years) and despite some people saying their quality control is bad I know tons of people with Razer kit and not a single one has ever experienced issues. Logitech mice are decent too, it largely depends what you find comfortable. The K70 is mechanical, I would recommend you look at the different types of switches as there are a ton of them and they all feel different. Only thing is it is hard to fully appreciate what they are going on about with using one. That said I would never go back to using a membrane keyboard and funnily enough it's almost always people that have never used a mech keyboard that say they don't make a difference.
  19. You should be able to run BF4 on ultra at 1920 x 1080 on any decent AMD CPU or i5/i7 without any overclocking. Whilst sadly a lot of Tom's hardware went downhill, their best for the money articles are still worth a read: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106.html Just note there may be price differences between here and the US between models.
  20. Personally I'd swap the 290 out with a Geforce 970, the video memory basically won't get used until you go beyond a 1920 x 1080 resolution. You could also get away with 8GB RAM unless you are planning on doing high end CAD stuff as well.
  21. Disappointing that they are so unreliable, seems to be the only place that sells E&L AKs
  22. Looks like the right amount of kit to keep the cravings at bay for a couple of weeks.
  23. For anyone interested I replaced the parts on Saturday and went to a game on Sunday to test everything out. Groupings on full auto are definitely tighter, although I wonder if the recoil jiggle effects this somewhat either way. I had read about hop rubbers needing bedding in and was planning on emptying my remaining 1-2000 0.2g BBs to do so but I arrived too late to do this. To my surprise I could set the hop just fine immediately. The range is the same, if not very marginally greater - based on knowing my local site well and where I can and can't shoot to. I have no idea if the hop will get better with a bit more use, currently it is a bit better than stock and at least the drifting to the right has stopped. For the price it would be very debatable if it was worth it for most people, although I am glad I did it for the experience and even small improvements are nice. One thing I would add is the HK416 has these little plastic spacers, which I found out about when one fell out as I separated the receiver. They are a bit of a pain in the arse to reseat(at least for a rookie) but they fit at the back of the upper receiver where it touches the gearbox/slots into the back of the lower receiver in front of the buffer tube. I'm probably not the only one that sighs when dismantling something, only for a part to fall out of who knows where
  24. Here's a few, not sure if there are different types: http://www.socomtactical.net/airsoft-accessories/replacement-and-tune-up-parts/barrels-and-hops/maple-leaf-diamond-hop-up-rubber-for-aeg-60-degree.html http://www.milspecsolutions.co.uk/maple-leaf-monster-hop-rubber-for-aeg-60-deg.html http://www.tacticalquartermaster.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=1365
