I am going to have to respectfully contradict almost everything Tacmaster has said. In the Airsoft world a DMR is entirely about the aesthetics of the gun, and it's real world emulation.
Other than breaking 350fps there is no internal upgrade you can do to a DMR that cannot also be done to any other v2 based gun such as a 10inch mk18.
 
A real world DMR is a semi auto rifle that has a minimum of an 18inch match grade barrel and a free floating rail.
An m4 with a scope isn't a DMR, an M4 with a scope is a very usable gun for Airsoft, but it's not strictly a DMR.
 
If you really do want to go down that route the US m4 derived DMR is the Mk12, google it and go from there.
The mk12 uses the NATO 5.56 round.
The SR25 uses a 7.62 round, and is not an M4 and the Russian SVD is also a DMR.
 
Having spent a lot of money and time building a mk12 impression I can honestly say it's more of a hindrance to have a DMR than it is to just have a good aeg with a scope.
It's heavy, it's long, it's temperamental, the loss of full auto for suppression isn't worth the extra few FPS and at the end of it all, it shoots just as accurately wether it has the 480mm barrel or a
250mm barrel.

Yeah I'd agree with this. Some form of radio is really helpful, even if it's just for finding each other after respawn
 
I think you want to decide on what your goals are as a team.
 
There's loads of options ranging from a group of friends that play together, all the way through to groups that aim to have matching kit and may or may not emulate the look of a given military group. It isn't up to anyone but the people in your team to decide on what works best for you. Some groups like to have a fairly strict recruitment process whilst others are happy to accept people that are a good laugh, regardless of skill.

The only difference between an AEG and a DMR is the internal spec. It doesn't matter about how the gun looks at all.
If you're thinking about barrel length, it really doesn't make a difference unless you reduce it below the standard M4 barrel size- you can get DMR performance with anything over 363mm in length. Barrel diameter is a different story, a 6.01 or 6.02mm TBB is the best to use in a DMR setup.
Internals wise, here's what I've got in my M27:
 
Prometheus TBB w/R-Hop and Maple Leaf rubber

SHS Hi-Torque motor
Lonex compression parts
Air-Lab Sorbo Pad to correct AOE
Prometheus M120 Spring
Nano Gate AB Mosfet
 
It's also been locked to semi via the selector plate. Currently kicking out at 415-420 FPS on 0.2gs.
 
This setup gives me really nice trigger response- not extremely important, but it feels and operates much nicer than a standard AEG- I can really feel the difference when I leave the safe zone with a normal AEG!

I am a novice to airsoft, I have been 3 times and am just about to get a G&G TR4 MOD0. I want to start an airsoft team with my friends, has anyone got some advice?

Well, there isn't any rituals for starting a team, just grab a few people, come with a name (optional), maybe some walkie talkies and done

Just bought my first gun managed to find a pts rm4 cqb in stock at lwa. Had to go two tone but only stock and hand guard so can upgrade/swap out later. Had to get it before ukara as they seem rather hard to find

I couldnt care less who tells their teammates where I was when I shot them. I wont be there when they come back.

If you need the cash I will buy the AKS-74N off you, two thirds of new price as standard minus another 10% desperation tax😁

Hopefully I'll be able to get along to a game some time soon, even if it's just to give him something slower to aim it... lol
 
I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions but currently spending most of the time reading others posts which are covering quite a lot so far
 
1st question really would be what sort of goggles do people reccomend since I permanantly wear glasses and am pretty useless without them at any distance further than a couple of feet... (I guess I could always just aim at blurry things and hope for the best... lol)

So that's ANOTHER unnecessary loadout started couldn't help it though

 
Since I'm getting an AUG in November might as well do an Aussie inspired loadout
Was going to get a JG AUG A2 (£86 - TaiwanGun) but could get an A1 instead for £115, so not based off the F88 but close enough. Probably won't notice the differences between the JG and TM (which is based off the Australian version) and I could buy the Austeyr flash hider.

Damn you mr_b was trying to avoid buying aussie cam but that's out of the window

Its a G10 Repeater and fires steel bb's, It would cost you more to post it than its worth considering they are only £10 new

Today my Hawke RD30 died a death. i suspect that the shock generated by my G5s recoil has shaken the controller apart causing the dot to switch power modes or even turn off and on with each shot.
 
To find a new sight, is there any good places to look, and any brands of sight that will have the shock resistance required for a good GBBR?
 
Im not really interested in a magnified scope, as I dont feel my G5 is accurate enough to warrant one, and i much prefer the rapid target acquisition i can achieve with a red dot.
 
Are the WE ones currently flooding the market tough enough? or will i have to shell out on a good Real Steel sight... where exactly do you buy real firearm sights?

I have used a JG one, it was my mates, very nice gun.
Felt robust and just nice in general, very ergonomic.
