  1. Real ones are made of 7075 aluminium anyway so I don't see any reason why the airsoft ones would be made of steel. There are some CNC billet receivers but they're definitely in the top end like Inokatsu, HAO etc
  2. To kick things off, given that we have established your budget already as far as QD mounts goes...none. You already have several on the gun itself. The round sockets on the lower tips of the stock, the front end of the stock, either side of the receiver rear plate and the back end of the handguard? Yeah, they're all QD sling points. Slings - something like this will be fine https://www.ant-supplies.uk/gun-slings/qd-push-button-swivel-slings.html It's a knock off of a Magpul MS something or other with QD ends and a convertible single - two point buckle jobber. Cheap as chips and they're readily available in most airsoft stores between £10-15 or from Aliexpress for less than the price of a chippy tea!
  3. Yes, most "metal" airsoft guns are cast alloy of varying degrees of shite. That said, I've had plenty of cheap metal guns over the years that have been absolutely fine. As long as they're not damp and the finish is intact there's no reason they would corrode and I don't know of any that have just spontaneously bent or cracked unless they were stored VERY badly. In terms of the specific guns you've mentioned they tend towards the better end of the spectrum in terms of fit and finish so you'd be starting off at a better place. Given the use of "dollars" I'm going to assume you're in the US so unless you're happy to skirt the law or just pay the tax stamps for an SBR then a true MK18 is going to be tricky thanks to the whole 10.3" barrel and full auto trigger group (although I'm sure there's ways around it because "muh freedums") but we can only really give you advice on airsoft stuff. As for spending a "few more dollars", I think ou'd need to add a couple of zeroes to your budget to get those as real firearms over airsoft replicas!
  4. Cool, I guess the bast way to get hold of him is a message on Facebook?
  5. I've seen quite a few on pistol builds (that's what the Osprey suppressor was designed for) but it definitely suits the OPs build. They tend to be a bit less common on airsoft builds because the original licence holder for them was Madbull so they were quite pricey.
  6. If you seek to avoid people using hot guns then the ONLY way you can do it is to ban walk ons and provide all the guns and BBs yourself. If you use players BBs at chrono you would have to weigh them on the spot which assumes that each chrono spot will have space for a set of accurate micro scales. You would also need to make sure all sites use properly calibrated chronos which are regularly tested with known weights and velocities to double check them. If you want to avoid Joule creep then yes, use heavier ammo to test with in the first place. Insist on a zero tolerance policy of tournament locks with site applied tamper evident tags for HPA, monitor everyone to ensure nobody chronos with one weight then toddles off and uses way heavier BBs in game or fills up with more powerful gas. Then shut up shop because nobody wants to play at your site.
  7. It certainly suits the gun but it's really not unique. Almost every Kriss Vector ends up with one at some point.
  8. Each to their own indeed but if you take a pistol which is small and easily maneuverable, then add a stock, an extended body, and an extra long mag to make up for the reduced ammo capacity of a pistol, you end up with something that is less maneuverable and heavier than you started with which means you have LESS chance of getting accurate shots on target. So why not just use a rifle? Or better yet, an SMG.
  9. I mean...it's well done and all but I just don't get pistol carbines. Why take a pistol and remove all it's advantages?
  10. There's plenty of MOLLE chest rigs out there that you can set up to your exact preference Tactical Tailor MAV RRV style vests Or the micro style with inserts All of which can be customised to your hearts content!
  11. Is this your first time on the Internet? 🤣
  12. Let's just say the great majority of the responses were losing their shit over you having a Section 5 firearm and the rest were expressing their dislike for it on aesthetic grounds.
  13. 360FPS with a 0.2g BB is 1.2J so you're fine. Quite high for most sites though. Most places are 350FPS on 0.2g. ARABS is the Airsoft Rants and Bants group, home to some of the more ascerbic members of the airsoft community.
  14. Dubbin isn't going to help. Like you say, if they're that old then the chances are that they've stretched as much as they're going to. If they've dried out then you'll want to treat them regardless but beyond wearing thinner socks and anticipating blisters I can't really suggest anything other than just sending them back. Do not underestimate the importance of good footwear. Yes, surplus stuff is cheap but good stuff is pricey for a reason. I had a pair of slightly too tight boots that I wore for one day, two years ago and my big toe nail has only just recovered.
  15. What make is your SCAR? They're all slightly different!
  16. A discount is great but if you get a £50 pair of gloves for a tenner, you're still getting a £50 pair of gloves. a £3 pair will always be a £3 pair.
  17. You get what you pay for, they do have some cheaper ones (like the Peter Storm waterproof gloves) but whatever you do get, just be happy that they fit well (not super baggy) and have some kind of grip surface on the palm. Having dry hands is all well and good but of you can't hold your gun with them on then they're somewhat counter-productive.
  18. I believe they use a number of OEM companies to make their guns for them. S&T is one for sure but the 416 looks like it's been done by whoever OEM'd the Specna ones (E&C maybe).
  19. Just a quick note, those gloves are quite bulky and are fleecy type material. You may find they don't give much grip, particularly when they're dry, if you can stretch to them I'd suggest these instead https://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/15895026/sealskinz-ultra-grip-glove-15895026/?istCompanyId=c2ec8a5d-93c1-4850-a97a-f4d89d7c99c8&istFeedId=6d621985-aa60-4568-aedd-0f35fc1be5cb&istItemId=wapiwwxia&istBid=t
  20. In a "recreational" setting, I'd far rather be around a stoner than a pisshead (far less likelihood of violence and far better choice of snacks for a start). As for whether or not it's acceptable on a site - it's irrelevant if the site rules disallow it. Doesn't matter if you agree with it or not or if you are fine after a spliff or two or a couple of beers. Airsoft sites are privately run and more often than not have a landlord. If that landlord doesn't like anything the punters do the company running the site for airsoft can lose their lease. Breaking the rules and pissing off the landlord is a dick move.
  21. I run an M14 with midcaps. If i'm playing a site that doesn't go back to the safe zone for reloads between games (eg Gunman Camp Bravo) I typically take 8 mags out with me. Plus smokes, bangs, pistol +2 mags. I still just use a chest rig and a belt (for the pistol and pistol mags) though.
