I'd suggest something that can make more than a gnat's fart of air movement. https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/542554597/basic-dual-fans-kit-for-mounting-in-a?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=helmet+fans&ref=sr_gallery-1-2

You need to try it out on a site where you can properly gauge the range. 15m will only really tell you if you're massively under hopping (BB goes about 10 feet then drops to the floor) or hugely over hopping (BB leaves the barrel and travels skywards, never to be seen again). Start with the hop off and gradually increase it until the BB starts to go further. It should gently rise before it drops off when you're at the right sort of setting but that will be WAY beyond 15m even with 0.2g BBs (unless you've picked up a lemon).

The vast majority of research stuff online is sports related. There is some good pointers though if you look at taping vs mechanical supports for prevention of ankle injury as they pretty much all come down on the side of mechanical supports (which is basically what having a high leg boot is seeking to do). As mentioned above, strengthening the ankle through exercise is without a doubt the best place to start but that doesn't mean it should be the only route to take. It's also worth mentioning that one article espousing the value of the ASO Ankle brace (on a walking blog) does make the VERY valid point that no matter how good your boots are, if your gait means you are prone to ankle sprains or if you have a weak ankle from previous injury, NO walking boot is going to completely prevent further injury on its own. From a personal viewpoint I think it's worth remembering that walking boots and tactical boots have very different requirements in the way they will be used and it's entirely possible to go hiking in a good pair of trainers as long as you prepare your feet and joints for it first. There is no one "best boot" for everyone and people need to bear in mind when making recommendations that their feet are not the same as anyone else's and that the BEST boots are ones that fit properly. If you're in any way concerned for the health of your lower extremities, go see a proper podiatrist that can analyse your gait and give good advice. I went through the NHS and ultimately ended up with custom orthotics that have been an absolute god send! (I have very high arches, I supinate and am prone to Plantar Fasciitis)

Worth bearing in mind that ankle support isn't just about twisting type injury protection. It protects from impacts, reduces fatigue while walking long distances carrying high loads. I'm sure there's plenty of evidence out there given that boot design has come on leaps and bounds since the good old days of leather army boots!

All good points and everybody's mileage will vary, but then I was the kind of biker that puts their leathers on to nip out for a pint of milk so... (I've also properly torn the ligaments in my ankle before so I have NO desire to repeat that particular slice of shit pie)

They're great if they fit you properly. Super light but just not wide enough for my awkward bloody plates of meat.

Advice on viable all alloy M4/At platform as parts donor
Lozart replied to Orange peel neil's topic in Custom Guns
Which parts has he provided? You may need to look at specific airsoft receivers to fit with the milspec parts! -
You may just be lucky/have insanely strong ankles but trust me, ankle support is NOT overrated. The type of ankle support offered by most walking boots however...ehhhh... A properly laced, 8" tall boot WILL make a difference to how well your ankles survive if you happen to turn your foot in a rabbit hole (of course, if you're not playing outdoors it's less likely but still).

The 'What have you just bought' Thread

This isn't my first rodeo -
My FPS varies by more than that and I don't get flyers like you seem to!

Fixed that for you. -

Yes, he's ex-military but that doesn't mean he's a CQB expert. Plus it's more of the same "CHEETER EXPOSED!!!!!" "EX SQUADDIE DESTROYS AT AIRSOFT" clickbait bullshit. Personally, I'd recommend this guy https://www.youtube.com/user/rwiley1690 (active duty SWAT officer that also plays airsoft) or these guys

If you're not playing as a team then you'll learn about as much that's useful on You Tube. Room clearing drills and tactics are all about teamwork, on your own, once you've learnt the basics of the fatal funnel and pieing corners you're pretty much covered.

How about the waterproof version of the same boot? https://tactree.co.uk/511-speed-3-0-wp-boots Personally I use these https://www.nightgearstore.com/Merrell-2-8-inch-Response-WP-Boots/4822026748ng.htm?colour=Tactical+Black&sku=1278370&productid=342206&gclid=CjwKCAjwndCKBhAkEiwAgSDKQRKwmrMmCnls6G1ovtGHsRkQBNI2ASz-LxuYg19PiKqkFaqlcU-7KBoCtpcQAvD_BwE because Mereell boots always fit me well.

1980s sas iranian embassy seige loadout
Lozart replied to parramoom's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
@parramoom bear in mind that those (or indeed any fire proof overalls) are going to be VERY warm! -
Palm oil isn't the demon product everyone seems to think though. It has a far denser output for acre than standard veg oil crops so if you force the palm oil producers to abandon it they will actually have to deforest a BIGGER area which is then WORSE for environmental impact. Better to regulate it properly now that it's already there. Plant based packaging is still a good idea though.

Physical adaptations to your play style, yes. Spunking money on chasing performance to the nth degree, no. Unless you just want to tinker and you enjoy that, in which case more power to you! That said, if it's your only gun then do the basics and then get out and play more. Save up and buy a speedyboi SSG1 and THEN start tearing into the CM16 (assuming that by that point you still want to be doing the whole Dye mask, SpeedQB thing of course).

Here's an off the wall idea - is the end of the barrel clear of any obstructions? Does it behave the same way if you take the flash hider off for instance?
-
What ammo are you using, what range are you actually getting and have you properly adjusted the hop?

Couple of things to consider - get a better ventilated design of helmet - Team Wendy, Air Frame etc all vent better than a FAST helmet (I have all three styles) if you're dead set on putting fans in, take a look at what the cosplay guys do (it's pretty common in Stormtrooper helmets) https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/36631-how-to-diy-usb-helmet-fans-no-more-9v-or-aas/ think about things like where your battery will go (I'd suggest using an NVG battery holder on the back) make sure the helmet ventilates well in the first place - the cheap Emerson helmets come with a solid polystyrene liner, whereas the FMA ones come with individual pads for example

If the cosplay crowd are anything to go by, every fucker in Starfleet is an Admiral!
