  1. MEDs are related to the FPS of the gun not the type of gun. Generally an AEG or pistol firing under 350FPS has no MED but DMRs and bolt action sniper rifles with high FPS do. Hence if you get a sniper rifle you'll need a sidearm for when people get inside your MED (either a pistol or an SMG or something similar).
  2. I hate the ambidextrous ones with a passion because the one on the finger side (as opposed to the thumb side if you get my drift) digs into the knuckle when you try and select Auto.
  3. Which? The s-e-f one or the ambidextrous one?
  4. There's a control on the battery holder. Off, low speed and high speed. I usually have it on full chat because it doesn't actually take much power and makes minimal noise.
  5. The two threads cam from my comment about getting bored of all the HPA posts and someone said "it's only been two threads" But yes, people should still search but at least if the sticky was there when they start another thread about it we can all just post the link and wander off to discuss how much Trigger secretly loves G&G.
  6. A whole sub forum for two threads vs one sticky post about the most commonly upgraded sniper rifle on the market? Reckon it's worth a go.
  7. Don't think you'll find the warranty covers the foam. I enquired and they wouldn't sell the new foam surround as a spare part either.
  8. Maybe we need a sticky post with the best links and videos in to save us all the heartache next time then?
  9. All true of course but then there's no substitute for guidance by people that have actually done it before and are willing to discuss the pros and cons. Google just presents you with a list of choices rather than actual advice.
  10. I don't own one but a couple friends do so I've had a go. Nice guns, the magazine can be a pain in the arse if you're prone (it's quite long) and mag pouches are less plentiful than say, MP5s. Nobody seems to do a decent aftermarket nozzle for it so you're stuck with stock parts if it needs replacing, the stock isn't adjustable and some find it a little long. Nice guns though. ImTriggerHappy will be along shortly to tell you that you should buy an ICS instead. Ignore him, they don't make a UMP and he's just got a bee in his bonnet.
  11. ESS knock offs are generally rubbish. I got mine (geuine ones) for £60 on ebay. They were old and the foam surround had perished so I've cleared it all off and replaced it with a neoprene one instead made from self adhesive sheet. They are fantastic but you need to keep them clean otherwise they can still fog slightly when worn in the rain by a fat sweaty git like me. Thing is, some of us just don't like mesh. Regardless of how safe they actually are.
  12. If you google "M16 carry handle scope" you will see what I mean.
  13. See...NOW it makes sense! Yes, the VN style M16s have a fixed carry handle, they also have a little hole in the top of it that can be used to attach either a Vietnam era style tube sight or a small section of 20mm rail that can then be used to mount modern sights. Equally, iron sights are just fine.
  14. You need to search for an MP5 "C MAG" and Hong Kong is probably your best bet. Classic Army did one, A&K do one and RWC do one but nobody seems to have stock.
  15. Is your google broken? http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001JR4CIO
  16. Almost nothing about this post makes me think you're even sober. Yes a Vietnam style M16 has a fixed stock. You can quite clearly see it in all its fixed length glory fixed to the back end of the gun. If it was not a fixed stock it would be either a folding or adjustable stock. If it wasn't fixed to the gun it would be what we know as a "spare part" and not terribly useful for steadying the rifle in use.
  17. This got done to death when that video first landed (it's quite old now). I don't think we need legislation to have full seal eyepro. Ultimately that incident happened because the mesh lower had pushed the eyepro out of place allowing a ricochet to get in and hit the guy in the eye. Granted it's harder to displace a set of goggles but it's not impossible.
  18. This. A million times this.
  19. I'm not opposed to being shot through the holes in pallets and stuff. I like the rule at The Mall on this - if the hole is smaller than an A4 sheet you can't poke your gun through it but if you can fire through it from 10ft away then that's fine (skill shotting). Stops people hosing down through a hole and potentially blind firing someone at close range.
  20. I don't agree on ricochets. Granted a real ricochet will f*** you up just as well as a direct hit in many cases but in airsoft you could end up with someone deliberately aiming at the side of a tree or a wall to hit you with ricochets. As I say, you have to draw a line somewhere.
  21. No more so than an 8.4V Nimh will. Trigger contacts are incredibly basic and are a high resistance component. It's worth fitting a hardwired mosfet to improve your trigger response so it may be worth looking into anyway as it will also extend the life of your trigger, but even on a 7.4v LiPo it's not going to burn out in less than a year unless you're very active in the sport and spam the semi auto a lot anyway.
  22. Should be fine. MOSFET is really only necessary once you get up to 11.1V LiPo or if you're trying to improve performance.
  23. Personally anything that hits the gun IN YOUR HAND is a weapon hit and doesn't count (weapon disabling etc is a whole different kettle of fish). Anything else that hits you, your kit or your helmet is a hit and it counts. Any sort of "oh you hit my body armour" gets ridiculous because then you'll have people arguing that THEY have a P90 so your body armour is irrelevant or a sniper arguing that a FAST helmet wouldn't stop a .50 BMG from his Barrett. You have to draw the line somewhere.
  24. "Dildo Hard"? Oh...you made a funny.
