Before Christmas I was looking for a shortdot for my rifle, ie 1-4x. I looked through a lot of scopes and my conclusion was unless I spent £100 or so I was going to have a lot of parallax, colouration and other problems, not least of which was often they were more like 1.5 or even 2x at the lowest magnification. So I ended up buying a real steel Bushnell which was about £120 IIRC. Its very clear, about 1.1x on the low end and has good turrets you can get to and move with your hands for adjusting zero. I know why people don't want to spend that sort of money, I wanted to spend £40 as well I just couldn't find anything I was really happy with at that price point.

I view this the same as laptops, you need to take yourself down to Pc World and actually use a £400 laptop, just open up notepad and start typing and compare that to the £1000 one next to it and you'll see the difference immediately. Go look at some scopes in a gun shop and an airsoft shop and you'll determine if you can live with the problems of the cheap ones or not.

A great example for me was before the shortdot I was looking at the 3x flip to the side in pro airsoft. Turned out the eye relief was really small, to the point where I thought it was likely my goggles would interfere! That put an end to that possible purchase in an instant. Wouldn't have realised how bad it was unless I tried it. I think its the way to go because without experience of a decent scope its hard to evaluate the airsoft one other than "works".

Have a look at Nikko Stirling ones and say save £10-£15 for Picatinny mounts.

Another vote for vision king. I have there Shortdot and the glass is top notch. Heres there ebay store, They have best offer on most scopes and usually can get £10 or so off the listed price.

Visionking; they're all excellent and very well built. Extremely clear lenses.

Check DHGate as they sell direct on there for a lot less.

More or less there and still over 2 and a half months to go. Can still fit some players in though if people want to play.

    Welcome to the forum.

Airsoft is great for meeting people.

Ive met lots of people since I started playing a couple of years back.

Its not necessary to run about and there is a good social scene once you get established.

I discovered within a year or so that I prefer milsims to skirmishes and I belong to a group that plays three milsims a year around the M25 orbit with the option for other stuff in between.

its still a RIF in its native black and you will need UKARA etc for a retailer to sell it to you.

fixed, it was actually very easy, the ring above the glass with the crosshair has two gaps that can be used to rotate it and that also rotates the glass.

On the real steel weapon it controls the fire mode. On the airsoft ones it doesn't - I removed mine as it just got in the way.

I was handling the TM M9 this afternoon. I wasnt really conscious of the plastic slide as it felt quite hefty in my hand. I have the TM Smith & Wesson M & P and that is very light in contrast.
Best to look at them in person if you can.

Yes they are about 280 fps although its hard to chrono a trishot.
Your link is the one Ive just bought.

Before anyone suggests anything I would like to make a point about the material of certain pistols- just because it's plastic, it doesn't mean that the gun's bad. Tokyo Marui (possibly the best GBB pistol manufacturer) mainly make their guns out of plastic, however that's what gives them their amazing gas efficiency.
This is the reason why you shouldn't touch any metal M1911s- the gas reservoir is so small that it is depleted fairly quickly when a metal slide is fitted.

G&P m4 all the way, infact I love their whole m16/m4 range. Had 3 G&P's everyone was a rock solid little work house. Well worth what you pay, the build quality is really good and sturdy. I'm told they're the best for aftermarket parts and real steel parts aswell due to their size tolerances compared to other brands - though that may just be hearsay as I've never tried to fit anything RS on mine. Never had a problem with other parts though so your upgrading should go smoothly.

If you're getting into the whole milsim scene and you're seeking realism then the G&P is really lovely in the hand, it's easy to forget you're holding an airsoft rifle due to its weight and solid build.

They also feed from MAG midcaps which a lot of guys use. My mags were wrapped in eletrical tape due to the loose fit in G&G magwells but I had to remove it for them to fit in G&P as it made it too tight due their finer tolerances.

I've had 3 G&G's and an ICS, I'd say none of them came close to my G&P's in terms of looking and feeling the part in your hands.

An 8 hour skirmish at my local site is £30. It is no more expensive then attending 2 skirmishes.

Baz JJ got a reaction from Lozart in Why does everyone love Glocks so much?
The real Glocks are good pistols, but personally I dont like their appearance so I dont bother with them in Airsoft.

I have H&K, SIG, Walther, Beretta, S&W and love them all for different pros and cons, but I really cant get warmed up about Glocks.

So many units use them, if you are going for realistic loadouts, its quite hard to ignore them.

I dont think any of the cheaper manufacturers make a SCAR, so yes they probably are more mid to high end.

I personally like the SCAR too and have the G&G one.

First guns are very much down to personal taste and you are quite likely to change your mind after a few games.

    Hey guys n gals...

I work as a Youth Worker for a small Charity in North London and we have put in a funding bid, however this one relies on votes rather than the content of the work we do (which is very worthwhile).

Could you all please make a difference to my local community and young people I work with by spending 2 mins voting for us? You need to register and verify your email and then search our charity and click on vote (please use all ten votes on us). It literally takes 2 mins start to finish..

    Thanks.

    EDIT *******
cmon guys.. 177 views. I do hope some of the regulars could take 2 mins to help me out.

My organisation is a small local charity and we rely on donations and funding bids like these to be able to provide our services to the young people in our community.

It takes a very small time to vote but would mean so much to many if we were successful.

Our funding bids very rarely rely on votes so I wont be spamming you all with requests every week, this is a very rare occurance

    Thanks.
