I don't know what his intentions are, he mentions 'use' and 'play' (airsoft?), which is why I specified the two legal legal outcomes depending on what it is.

No, UKARA is just a scheme for retailers that makes it easier for them to sell to, presumably, the right people. It's handy to have but you can purchase without it.

So this friend's Mum buys it, and then you buy it from them? If so and the RIF is to be used for an actual insured airsoft site, then yes, that's fine, she will have a defence.

But if you mean play in the back garden, then no.

I do know what I'm talking about, the law is there for anyone to read, posted at the bottom. He stated to 'use' which is the key part, because what is done with the RIF is the difference. Airsoft is covered, but plinking in the back garden isn't. The offence is committed by the seller, but they have a defence if the RIF is to be used for airsoft/re-enactment etc. UKARA is not a legal requirement. Having played before is also not a legal requirement.

If he's under 18 then that's that, thread over, but I only can only reply based on what he said.

I don't know of any specifics,  they just didn't really survive the late 2010s for some reason.  When I started around 06 they were ramping up (initially more kits for plastic TMs I think?) and they were the go-to metal ARs for years in the late 00s and early 10s, tons of variants all with darn authentic trades plus accessories from UGLs down to the small parts.  They probably peaked in the Magpul era, pumping out tons of AEG and WA system GBB ARs based on US civilian builds of the time, often with PTS plastic attached.  Then PTS lost the Magpul license and at some point Cybergun or whoever has the Colt trades license agreement clearly put their big old foot down; around then G&P just stopped making anything vaguely based on any real firearm of any type.  Granted that was the trend at the time (around the initial popularity of Keymod) and G&G/ICS/VFC were all doing the same, but G&P failed to move with the times and just faded away apparently.  They released a batch of Mk18s in brown a few years back that got terrible reviews and very briefly had a 'recoil system' which had the same reception.

E&C have completely taken over what was the G&P domain in my estimation (military AR AEG focus).  An awful lot of the same guns and parts as G&P used to do, I don't think it's the same operation though.

Edit - Looked up their IG: https://www.instagram.com/gnpairsoft/?hl=en
Barely a post for years now.  Forgot how hard they leant in to the Salient craze.. that won't have helped the business.  Maybe they only do silent OEM stuff now?  It can be comparatively easy work for an established factory.  Not sure.

Even if they were Aegs, it would be a nice development. Would fill the hole of various Cold War Armalites that was left by G&P's departure.

What's up with the photos as well? The first is a stock photo, not the actual item, second is too distant, third is a picture of the magazine... um okay? Fourth is a montage that contains two photos of the magazine, two photos of the plastic case. How about some decent photos of the actual item?

I like the use of the rubber gloves, as if that weapon was just used in a murder. Makes a change at least from the usual: 'take a photo of it on your bed with your hobbit feet showing at the bottom.'
