There is no MED for pistols at all. The only weapon platforms which have MEDs are sniper rifles and DMRs, as explained above. There's a reason why it's not recommended for newbies to buy sniper rifles- if you're comfortable with spending £££s and many hours tinkering and tweaking a sniper rifle, that's up to you. You won't have an enjoyable experience if it goes wrong. The only L1A1 replicas around are the King Arms ones, which aren't amazing. Tbh before buying anything specialised you'd be best off buying a basic AEG such as a G&G Combat Machine M4/AK or an ICS sportline M4.

CYMA AKs are also great, I just got myself a CYMA RPK and it's brilliant! They may need to be downgraded as they tend to fire too hot, however I think Gunfire.pl will do downgrades for free if you buy from them. They have a great range of CYMA stuff for decent prices too! @Mos Real Sword are far more expensive and the only AK they make is the Type 56, which is a Chinese copy of the AK. Pretty major differences too, as it has a folding bayonet and other such things.

Hi there, welcome to the forum & sport! It's a UKARA Defence, not a license. You don't buy it, you play a game day at a single site 3 times in no less than 2 months to be eligible for a UKARA Defence. After registering, you will be put onto the database and be given a unique number which you can then use to buy realistic airsoft guns. It's not advisable to buy a sniper rifle as your first gun. Without upgrades, most are absolutely terrible and will be completely outclassed by electric guns (AEGs). You'd have to spend at least £200-£300 on upgrades on top of the base gun. There are some which don't need as much spent on them, however it's still a lot more than buying a starter AEG and all the bits to go with it. There's a bit of a variation in site FPS limits, there are official ones stated in the VCRA but sites have their own limits below these. It's usually like this: Sniper rifles 450 FPS or 500 FPS, DMRs (if allowed) 425 FPS max, AEGs 350 FPS, 328 FPS in CQB. The ease of access of the hop up unit depends on the gun. On nearly all, you just pull a cocking handle back and it will be revealed behind a fake bolt carrier or ejection port cover. Hop ups are typically easy to find as they are right at the start of the barrel. The only minimum engagement distances (MEDs) will be for sniper rifles and DMRs, and they're typically 20m for sniper rifles and 15m or so for DMRs. Best eye protection depends on your personal choice, however do not wear normal sunglasses. Those people you saw were idiots, unless they were ballistic rated glasses. You have a choice of clear polycarbonate goggles or mesh goggles. Mesh doesn't fog, however it can be difficult to play in in the dark. You can also get anti-fogging treatments and wipes for goggles. I wouldn't advise wearing ballistic rated glasses as there are gaps for BBs to get into your eyes.

The 'What have you just bought' Thread

I must have been mistaken then, as the 'sets' section of Grey shop shows a model wearing the same kit under the heading 'VDV'. I guess I'll just go for a standard Army setup then, minus helmet & body armour. I'm looking at a Smerch for load bearing too -

I hope it can be fitted with an NPAS or those velocity reducing disks -
Electric is far better for a new player, unless you're totally fine maintaining a gas weapon as you said you have experience paintballing? If you're used to large capacity hoppers in paintball, maybe an AEG would suit you more? You have far more options in magazine capacity, from realistic 30rnd low caps, 120rnd ish midcaps, 450rnd highcaps and 1000rnd and higher drums. As winter is coming along and most gas guns suffer in lower temperatures, maybe an AEG would also be better? There are a couple of gas guns which work well in winter (guns like the GHK G5) but they still suffer from some temperature changes. As for sights, most airsoft guns will be able to take one if they have 20mm picatinny/weaver rails. The few models which don't (MP5s, G3s, AKs, SVDs, FALs etc.) usually have adaptors available or optics which will fit right onto the gun without an adaptor.

G&G FireHawks are supposed to be good. Sitting Duck has one and he loves it. G&G also make some other nice CQB M4s which verge on SMG size. The ASG Scorpion EVO is also supposed to be good. It would help if we knew what type of gun you liked so we could recommend them for you

The 'What have you just bought' Thread
TacMaster replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Unfortunately the auction has already ended, Ian! I'm looking at some of the stuff on offer at Grey-Shop, uniform wise I'm looking at this. Am I going wrong with this and is there a better alternative? I'm completely new to Eastern and Russian kit -

Just got myself a CYMA RPK, VDV Russian Army impression loadout begins! Will get some better photos up in future- it's missing the rear sight so I'm replacing that ASAP. -
This is pretty damn old, saw this a couple of years ago

Advice on Tightbore Barrel for A&K SVD
TacMaster replied to ronin677's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Prommy do indeed make 650mm barrels, not sure if they come in AEG format as that's what the A&K SVD takes (I believe? Not sure) -
Do you not understand any of this? If you have an AEG which fires 0.20g at 450 FPS, then simply loading 0.30g or heavier BBs into it will not make it 'site legal'. It just simply means you're cheating the chrono. Buy yourself a CYMA or G&G M14, stick a tightbore and/or an M120 spring in it and have it locked to semi automatic. That's a cheap and easy DMR which can be improved upon later.

Usually if it's an ACOG, Elcan or similar on a standard AEG, it's most likely an unmagnified red dot housed within an ACOG replica. People who've invested time and money into creating setups which can reach out to longer ranges will probably be using slightly magnified optics as they usually provide a decent guide for their fall of shot. Not too much of an issue but if you've got a sniper rifle firing out to 70m or so you'll want to see where that little 6mm plastic ball went down the other end. Of course there's always the idiots who think that by adding a 10-20x telescopic sight to their standard AEG will magically increase it's range.
-
Alternatively, sort a DMR out using HPA or buy one second hand. DMRs have a lower FPS limit and a smaller minimum engagement distance, however you'll have quick follow up shots as they're semi automatic opposed to bolt action rifles. You won't get singled out and targeted by players on the other team as a DMR can look like any other rifle, and due to DMRs being semi auto you'll have far more firepower than a guy with a sniper rifle. Sniper rifles are pretty cool and may be quieter if you're looking for stealth though.

With the P* jack, is it as simple as gutting the gun's gearbox and dropping in the Jack and all it's gubbins? Might end up buying a support weapon in future and jacking it
-
It's finally come out then? Saw a video a few years ago of a stand at an airsoft convention where they were demoing these. Made by a Spanish company I think

It's so diddy!

Standard BBs are 6mm in diameter, the main variable is their weight. This can be anything between 0.20g to 0.40g and above. In normal AEGs, 0.25g BBs are brilliant. The advantage heavier BBs bring is the amount of kinetic energy they can hold. While this means that the gun's projectile velocity is lower with 0.25s than it is with 0.20s, with 0.25g BBs you may have a range advantage due to the amount of energy the BBs will have at their max range compared to lighter BBs. It's always good to keep a pot or bottle of 0.20g BBs with you, as you may be required to have your gun's muzzle velocity checked on site so that the marshals can make sure your gun is within the safety limits.

CYMA MP5K vs CYMA P90 (NOT CYBERGUN P90)
TacMaster replied to marty dog's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
You'll have the same performance with the MP5K as you do currently with your MP5. There may be a slight FPS change due to the different barrel length, but as CYMA weapons run hot already that won't be an issue. There's also a model called the MP5 PDW which is essentially an MP5K with a folding skeletal stock and a removable flash eliminator exactly the same as the one on the MP5. -
Are you missing a motor from your gun? That's pretty important
-
My old CYMA MP5 was pretty nice, they need a little gearbox TLC and a spring downgrade but other than that they're great

The 'What have you just bought' Thread
TacMaster replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Been a long time since I bought anything airsoft-related, so I bought a couple of things: Waterproof OD boonie OD combat trousers And a bag of 0.36g and a bag 0.40g BB Kings in white. -
No, IRL the two rifles are completely different calibers too.
