  1. armouring that against BBs would be a piece of piss I agree, even the armature that holds the camera up could be done relatively easily with a thick fabric skirt. bit of lexan to cover the lens and it'd be all but BB proof.
  2. TM Recoil guns are metal where the real gun is metal... obviously though they're not made of steel like the real thing. The recoil also is NOT going to put your aim off, it's nowhere near as powerful as even .22, more of a recoil effect than actual recoil. That said, it is still extremely satisfying!
  3. or, if you don't want to spend an extra £60 on a silencer and a fore grip, the standard 416D is largely the same gun but £485 instead of £545 http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/marui-recoil-416d-airsoft-gun-ebb-aeg
  4. there's a few differences, the TM will shoot further and more accurately without modification, when your magazine is empty it'll stop firing and the recoil effect will become something you can't do without! The 416 DEVGRU is the most expensive recoil gun available, is it £165 better than a VFC? That depends entirely on how much £165 is to you, but it's undoubtedly a better gun. As dex has said, the recoil shock specific magazines are a little more expensive ~£18 each but you can if you want buy a small plastic adapter that'll allow you to use normal AEG mags, albeit with the loss of the bolt stop when the magazine is empty. Oh, and don't get it from airsoft world, even though they're claiming that they've knocked the price down it's still a rip! http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/marui-416-devgru-aeg-airsoft-recoil-rifle-ebb £20 cheaper and if you give them a ring they'll do the battery conversion for you.
  5. paintball gun, covered by the air weapons section of the firearms act. as long as you're over 18 and it's less than 12ft/lb they're perfectly legal... yet another way that the VCRA is complete bullshit.
  6. TM Recoil Shock is absolutely worth it, hands down the best out of the box AEG money can buy. http://www.blackdragonairsoft.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=20&product_id=54 That's the CQBR, would be a matter of seconds to chuck a silencer on the end of it. The only mod I'd recommend having done is to remove the quick change battery system and have it direct wired, any good retailer will be able to do this for a very small cost. Maintenance wise it's just a case of keeping the barrel clean, you'll likely never need to open the gearbox.
  7. to add to that, no one NEEDS a MOSFET, heavy gauge wiring, or any of that other shit. get a decent battery; personally I'd recommend a 7.4v LiPo with a decent discharge rate (20C+ for a small <1500mAh, 15C+ for a bigger one) and re wire your tamiya connection to deans. Yes you'll get some arcing on your trigger contacts and yes in a couple of years they might fail... but in my experience of people using MOSFETs they're far more likely to fail than the trigger contacts! Don't worry about a stock G&P piston either, they're a premium brand for a reason and the gun will be GOOD out of the box.
  8. a pair of mechanix originals and a WE LiPo to see if they're any good!
  9. so what you're saying is that if someone draws an anime poster of a character holding a particular type of gun... you'll be more inclined to want to buy it? DO NOT EVER GO TO JAPAN, YOU WILL SPEND ALL THE MONEY YOU HAVE EVER HAD AND EVER WILL HAVE ON RUBBISH.
  10. that'll take about 9 hours to charge a 3000mAh battery then.
  11. Oh god, it's hideous. I'm a little bit saddened that you can buy rail ladders in hot pink!
  12. bear in mind though that the man is a tank and the gun only LOOKS small in his hands!
  13. my M4A1 SOPMOD Block 2 is very nearly complete: perfectly skirmishable as it is, but I'd ideally like to stick a decent functional PEQ 15 on there and maybe a torch too.
  14. um, no, they're completely different. if you're after shorter magazines for the SCAR-L then you could put older M16 magazines in there (often called VN style).
  15. I'm a big fan of the element copies of surefire scout lights, they're very bright, good spread too. not the cheapest copies in the world but buy cheap, buy twice!
  16. not to mention that mag pouches that'll fit SCAR-H mags are a lot harder to come by than the ubiquitous M4 pouch!
  17. I dunno, when I was Teos age I did rugby training 3 times a week, including a match nearly every weekend, ten tors, sailing and various other stupid activities. I was constantly a bit sore and I really knew about it the day after a match but no part of me suffered any permanent damage. Teenagers are near indestructible, as long as he doesn't start thinking that a 100Kg benchpress is his minimum required standard he'll be fine!
  18. if your plate carrier is too heavy take some stuff off it! exercise wise though, CORE: sit ups, plank, leg raises, side raises, tuck jumps, v-sits. Push ups and pull ups will help too, but to a lesser extent.
  19. range on TM recoil shock guns is phenomenal, play with it a few times before you decide you NEED upgrades.
  20. Ahh that's shit news, L119A1 from a CQBR sounds like a fun project though. I know of someone else who's recently done the same and they decided it was better to build it from a full length WE M4A1. The barrel is 2 part and when the extension is removed you get an exact 10" outer.
  21. No need to paint it, ownership of a RIF is not a crime.
  22. Clone Chinese eye pro? You mad?! Also, just read the blurb... 150 minutes from 2x AA batteries, that's gonna get expensive!
  23. ESS profile turbofan goggles. Full seal, polycarbonate lens which will stop buckshot, anti fog coating on the lens that's effective on its own. Coup de grace though is the fan in the top of the goggles that pulls air through them, on low speed it's all but inaudible to the person wearing them, let alone people nearby. On high speed it's louder but still quiet enough that no one will hear it from further away than about 6'. Have worn them with a plastic lower attached with cable ties during intense CQB with lots of running and have NEVER experienced them fog up even a little.
  24. Yeah, try it with the window behind you instead of behind your kit!
  25. Pointless. If there were a reason to have one then it would have appeared and been utilised widely in real steel shooting. There are stock kits for pistols all over the place in the 'real shooting' world, none are used by those who know what they are doing with the exception of the HERA arms glock carbine kit.
