  1. Most serious milsim in the uk at the moment is Tier 1, no saluting or ranks there, same for stirling.
  2. why would money be an issue for that? lots of sites operate vehicles. My old local used to run a variation of this game pretty much every time, it'd be the last game of the day and 3 players would be nominated as 'pilots', they'd have pistols only and would need to make their way from one end of the site to the other, via a point which only they and the marshals knew, without being captured.
  3. with that you'll need any PTT designed for a motorola 1 pin. If you're after a 'military style' headset, then you're really looking at chinese clone stuff, real deal comms gear is expensive and particular about what it'll work with. The PTT Mr B linked will work fine with your radio, any headset with a TP120 (sometimes called military) plug will fit into it, I'd recommend sticking with z-tactical as their headsets are pretty decent, don't get their knockoff Sordins or Comtacs though, they're arse.
  4. that radio is a bag of wank, get a baofeng instead: http://www.ebay.com/itm/UV-5RA-UV-5R-A-New-Version-Dual-Band-UHF-VHF-136-174MHZ-400-520Mhz-2-Way-Radio-/261491012466?pt=2_Way_Radios_FRS&hash=item3ce2143372 takes a kenwood plug too so this will fit and work fine: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Popular-Mini-Handheld-BAOFENG-UV-5R-Speaker-Mic-Walkie-Talkie-Dual-Band-Radio-62-/171323196379?pt=US_Radio_Comm_Microphones&hash=item27e3a883db then just plug in a standard 3.5mm jack headphone if you want to silence the speaker on the mic. no airsoft clone rubbish there, all guaranteed compatible and a damn sight cheaper than the options you posted to begin with. Only downside is that you'll need to program the radio yourself, but it's a straightforward job and there's plenty of tutorials online.
  5. Maximum age to join is 36 PT247... even in 1800 Ian may have been too old!

it might be more optimised at the extreme top end of the scale but that's not going to translate so well at the bottom. if you're running it on ultra I expect you're running a fairly beefy machine with a serious GPU, BF4 will make better use of that GPU for sure because you probably don't have the bottlenecks that Frizzle no doubt has. As anecdotal evidence to counter your anecdotal evidence; earlier this year I built a PC out of bits for my nephew, high ish spec for about 5 years ago. Installed BF4... even on lowest possible settings with texture smoothing all the way up, the GPU overclocked to near melting point and the display set to 800x600 it struggled to break 30fps indoors with nothing going on. BF3 however runs at a solid 60fps (vsync on) on mostly medium with a few high settings.

different game engines, BF4 is massively more demanding than BF3. I don't care how optimised it is, if you're struggling to get 60fps on BF3 you're gonna struggle to get 16fps on BF4. Frostbite 2 != Frostbite 3

if your computer is struggling with BF3 it'll melt itself through the floor with BF4.
  9. In order to buy pyro you need to be 18+ and sign a waiver, you'll need to print it off and send it to them in the post with a copy of your passport/drivers license to prove your age.
  10. essentially, it's not a poor man's chrono it's a feed of bullshit. you wanna know how hot your gun is shooting? chrono it.
  11. Get this battery instead; http://www.componentshop.co.uk/7-4v-2600mah-cranestock-battery.html It will fit in the handguard and not only will it last a LOT longer (probably a whole weekend of play) it'll also give you faster trigger response and better rate of fire.
  12. Yeah, looks like you've got a dodgy/fake lens there, I use ESS goggles/glasses exclusively and I've only ever had the anti fog coating bubble like that after I scraped it pretty badly with a bit of plastic by accident. Tactical-kit do replacement lenses.
  13. could be poorly calibrated, or it could be that all the guns were shooting 300fps ish, all of mine do.
  14. My pistol is now very nearly done, just need a couple of +2 magazine bases and it's the 'full costa'.
  15. Depends on how you define overpriced I guess, I didn't pay full retail price for the torch and there's NOTHING on the market which is anywhere near as bright that I can also fit onto the rail of a glock pistol. Expensive yes, best in class yes.
  16. The front face on a real surefire is tougher than a chinese plastic one, but it can still be shot out. tactical optician ( http://www.tacticaloptician.co.uk/?Store ) does protective lenses that you can fit to the front and will also fit replacement lenses to surefire torches if they've already been shot.
  17. Indeed, the Chinese lie! They may be using LEDs capable of 1000 lumens but the rest of it clearly isn't stacking up in most cases. Lesson learned for me, will be sticking with genuine surefire where I can from now.
  18. the marui 417 is a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG way off at the moment, they don't even have a display prototype yet. The picture on the teaser poster they put out is a real HK417, As for whether recoil shock is worth it... depends, can you comfortably afford to drop £500 on a BB gun and then probably another £150 on magazines? if so, HELL YEAH they're worth it, best AEG you can buy! So many more features than the VFC; Recoil, working bolt stop, real dimension magazines, reliable, no crappy umarex trademarks.
  19. and this is why most retailers won't touch it with a shitty stick.
  20. JPC isn't a bad shout actually, you'll need to make/buy some fake plates to put in it though or it'll flap around all over the place.
  21. zero your sights, learn to hit the broad side of a barn. most airsofters I have encountered struggle with the above two things.
  22. British Airsoft Club, set up as an alternative to UKARA by a retailer which didn't meet the requirements to become a UKARA member so set up their own system and charged people X amount of money to join it; I expect they've raked in a huge amount of cash for doing pretty much shit-all. Now someone's realised that BAC membership means nothing in the real world because almost all of the big retailers refuse to accept it and HMRC probably don't even know what it is.
