I've wanted one for 20+ years, gave it a couple of months for the reviews to come out.
 
I bought it in black as I want to get the stock painted green to match my AUG

Last weekend at Gunman Alpha. 
 
It was my first time using the leaf suit and was a blast. I had someone about 3m away staring right at me. 

The 'real' rifle is a H&K 416, lots of companies make a copy of it, less so with the geissele style rail. TM, VFC, CYMA, WE, EA, UMAREX (which I think is a VFC Rebrand) and G&G

I would stay away from anything Nuprol.

Not seen much EA stuff so cannot comment on it. 

I've owned the G&G 416 and it was good (to my standard anyway). I currently own the TM 416 (with the geissele rail) and like it.

Surefire handguard, as we already know, is a drop fit, with some patience I was able to fit a 7.4v 1400mah nunchuck, I also had a shorter 7.4v 1300mah nunchuck which was even easier to fit into this handguard. Eotech 551 on a VFC generic low profile claw mount, and as I have a game soon before I could get hold of a Gemtech I came up with a little MP5 specific housing for the Acetech S unit's internal. 

Finally got a natural picture at a game of me, which is a rarity since I'm always hiding in bushes so the photographers never see me, but AI500 didn't have enough bushes! This has been my go-to loadout during the summer. I'm the one on the right, doing as much of the sniper business as I could since no "sniper rifles" were allowed at the event. Totally would've taken my VSR otherwise since the sight lines were massive.
 

had fun running the MP5 at UCAP Vendetta yesterday but it really needs a torch for those dark CQB moments. On the plus side the Magpul SL rail turned up today and my battery fits inside so it looks like I can now run a torch.

Longmoor today with Legion Airsoft. Ran with the Mk18 recoil and Arktis chest rig again, the fleece came off when it warmed up and I was busy trying to work both squad and team level comms 😂
 
Spot on day though, and I’ll try and get a review together. 

This is my TM next gen build. The 20rd magazin isnt ready, but soon. 

It seems that VFC MP5 GBB parts fit the MP5 NGRS its a shame no UK shops have any parts in

final design. this is pair number 5. the mount works on Edgewear ‎SSE611-TT and ESS ICE frames.

 

Finally got to run my new loadout today! Mk18 performed phenomenally, was picking off people that before I wouldn’t even have bothered at and didn’t use nearly half as much ammo as I thought I would!
 
 

I'm modding the repro mawl so the laser works. For some reason even though it has a working and wired up Red Laser, no combination of buttons can get it running.
 

 
What you need to look at are the blue and yellow wires coming from the laser, swap the yellow with the one on the connector and the blue with the grey wire from the IR. You don't need to rewire the rest up just cover it with tape or heatshrink. 
 
Obviously doing this will disable the IR laser, but the red laser and torch work fine.
 
There's also no working 2.5mm or 3.5mm connector on the back of the unit, but there is room for one, so I've bought some female 2.5mm jack connectors and i'm going to wire it up so any button plugged into it will toggle the laser on/off.
 

 
To turn the laser on, you bridge these two connections here. Should be a simple job of drilling a hole for the connector and wiring it to those points.

This thread does seem odd. Tbh as long as what other people do does not affect my weekend / game day then fill your boots. All I ask is you adhere to the rules and take your hits and im happy. Outside of that, if you wanna collect guns, patches, wear a hoody, run high caps, run low caps or whatever, its your hobby, if you're happy then who am I or anyone else to judge

Edit - And in regards to the thread title (not that the comment was aimed at me but its currently a slow work day...) Why do we need to understand? If it makes the person happy doing X, Y or Z...then it shouldn't matter really

Got round to getting some pictures of the front handguards.
 
First off, a comparative shot of the two different mounting mechanisms.
 

 
You can see that the TM (left) mounts slightly differently and is also lower than the RS grip, to allow more battery space. Additionally a top down shot of the TM and then RS grip shows that in the area behind the attachment hook, the TM version cuts away almost immediately whereas the RS gradually tapers down - again meaning the TM has more battery room.
 

 
Finally, you can see the difference in how the TM and RS grips look. There's not a huge amount in it, but note that the RS rides up a bit at the rear end (see how the rear corner almost touches the rail mount on the RS, but has a defined gap on the TM) and also you can again see that the RS grip is shorter by comparing where it sits against the magwell.
 

 
 

Very much intended as a placeholder set up, but it’s growing on me slowly but surely despite how mayo it is… but my turn in the queue to get the carry handle graft done on my ‘spare’ upper is fast approaching so I’m not sure it’s got much time left as is.

initial design is finished and now printing parts and tweeking the design as I go along.

Looks great will be interested to see how it turns out, are you planning to use internals from a different magazine or make your own?

Yes did build up a SD6. Finished it last night came out lovely. Wasn't too hard to build if you can get original ICS parts and have access to a lathe to build an adapter. Longer barrel and new spring bumped my FPS up too 340 so looking forward to using it tomorrow for its first outing. 
Also fitted my magpul guard and gemtech QD suppressor from my other ngrs mp5 I built myself to see what fitted and they went straight on.
I have a real steel sliding stock that I wanna try out but I think only the rails of the stock will fit with some milling so I might stick with the original as it's way more solid than any sliding stock on Rif.
 

G&P RIS Rail and G&P scope mount fit fine. A saddle bag 7.4v Lipo can be fitted in the front RIS however I might need to shorten the wires slightly for it to look a bit better.

 
*edit - A suystema TW5 full stock will fit with a bit of dremeling or sanding.
