Imagine coming on an Airsoft forum,  and thinking experienced members with years of standing don't know about Joule Creep and using Joules over FPS for chrono.

I'll post up some more pics tomorrow in an off topic thread....  I have the larger novopress gun as we do light commercial/massive domestic so pipes can be up to 76mm.  Smaller tools like REMS are fine for regular stuff up to 35mm (the pipes you see there).  We did have a machine that did 108mm, but we hardly ever used it so gave it to a friend.

Fittings are quite a bit more expensive in smaller sizes, but once you hit 35mm it actually starts to get cheaper.  You do have to plan ahead though as you can easily plumb yourself into a corner that you can't get the tool into.  REMs have some funky offset adapters and jaws which make getting into tight spaces and under floors easier.  I just don't like the feel of the tool (it feels like it is going to break, even though it's fine).  42mm and above and you move into a sling-jaw set up which gets heavy and clunky, btu still a hell of a lot cheaper, quicker and cleaner that soldering/brazing.

I also got a jaw for cutting threaded rod which is a total lifesaver.

Geberit have replaced their shitty MEPLA system for the New Flo Fit and it's actually pretty good - two jaws for the whole range, and the smaller jaws go up to 40mm.

An aeg uses a piston in a chamber that creates... high pressure air behind the BB.

You'll be telling us that hpa breaks peoples fingers next.

None of which provides a valid reason for restricting HPA users to a lower power output.

Just remember - the more right you are the more in the shyte you will be.  Just say sorry and shut up.  That's the advice I told the boy - and it seems to be working with his new missus LOL.  I on the other hand should learn to listen to my own advice.

I find it bizarre that @Sneakyduck wants to build his empire by directly pissing off members of the forum by not answering a very basic question.

It's not particularly entertaining, and I certainly won't be going to the site as a result.

Interesting reading chaps.  I'm surprised (but thinking about it shouldn't be) that a suppressor can make a significant difference.

But then I suppose I have my head close to the gearbox of my pews compared to a few feet away when lamenting the apparent silence of other's; so there's a certain amount of misconception I suppose.

First off, AEGs and HPA both use the same general system (pressurized gas) to power the BB. You get a muzzle noise when there is too much gas being used for a particular BB weight and barrel length, regardless of system used. One of the easiest ways to quiet your replica is to properly volume it. Second, really good shimming helps a lot (some gears are louder than others but shimming usually helps). I don't aim to make my replicas as quiet as possible (no augs filled with dynamat), but on most of my replicas you can hear nothing but the piston head hitting the cylinder head. I don't use buffers on my Arcturus replicas (they have perfect AOE already), but I'll see if I can link a video to show what I'm talking about.

If you want to really know how to get an AEG as quiet as possible, go to AirsoftSniperForum and check out 1Tonne's thread, but in summary, HPA doesn't have to deal with any kind of gearbox noise, most of which is produced by the bevel to pinion gear junction, and the piston hitting the cylinder head.

It's the above that I've found with my playing around with mechanicals as well.

For the first point I now run a full cylinder in my v2 DMR with an M120 spring, I swapped to one around a month ago from a 4/5 and M130, and the increased air volume has 100% increased noise (just look at a G&G Firehawk to see this in action). If you're not shooting heavy BB's, and have a very good air seal with a 3/4 cylinder, an M95 spring can make a huge difference to noise.

For me the biggest thing that helped my AEG on points two and three were a foam suppressor, changed the "twang" to more of a "thump", and swapping from a spring on my inner barrel to o-rings. Do what you can to try and change how the rifle "resonates", and I've found that polymer rather than metal receivers also help.

I don't assume anything, by your own admission researching a seller is extra effort & you'd rather go to a retailer, a as I previously said, your money, your choice.
The point being discussed, that many don't agree with, understandably, is the defence of cosplay has little bearing on airsoft, open to abuse by non airsofters, which in turn puts everything at risk for the genuine players.
I sympathise with your situation, I too provide 24/7 care, literally day & night, to a relative, unpaid I should add, who is disabled & has dementia.
Add to that I've been receiving cancer treatment since 2021, & severe orthopaedic issues mean I currently can't climb or descend a flight of stairs unaided, so I know exactly how hard it can be to attend games, or even cope with getting around some sites.
(I'm determined to not let the health crap force me to quit)
Cosplay would have been piss easy for me to use to buy rifs, but I don't agree with it for Airsoft rifs for all the reasons previously mentioned, maybe cosplayers and reenactors should have been made to go down the route of deacts or similar, in order to not "muddy the waters" for airsofters.
& as has been mentioned, maybe people like you & I, who find themselves in difficult personal situations should have more flexible options for attaining a ukara defence.
I'll put this out there as a general question, for example has anyone ever approached a site where they've started playing, but for whatever reason have had a protracted break between games, & asked the site to honour the previous games & make an allowance for the time away ?, allowing players get ukara approval.

Your case, and to a much lesser degree mine is why we need an alternative to the UKARA system.  But like I mentioned, we're very much a minority sport, and within that you and I are a minority, so options are limited.  Might be easier to get a sub category within the UKARA system to reduce fuckery with imports.

Looking at the classifieds pop up from members with zero feedback, and even less forum interaction - I am somewhat surprised at how easy it is to post an ad.  Some are blatantly from dealers/shops/not skirmishers.
