Heavier BBs, 0.36 to 0.40, Most Cost Effective To Buy In 2022?
Fatboy40 replied to Fatboy40's topic in General Help
I played the morning today with 0.40g BBs, and had to up the hop somewhat for them, and I'm wishing now that I didn't use them all up as I'm wondering if like you my power dropped. I'm going to have to burn through some more money and buy some more to test this properly at home before I touch the hop on my DMR and never know. They did perform much better than 0.30g BBs though, they flew a lot truer and noticeably further allowing me to reach out to trade shots with a few other DMR users. -
I just use Guard Dogs Evader 2 goggles, with my ExFog, and wear my glasses under them as usual 👍

Best of all though flippin' Gary Numan and "My Name is Ruin" !!!

I couldn't wait until Friday so had to download it, it's so good (great episode and they've got USA airsoft spot on, Cartman watching Swamp Sniper 😆 ). "Bruh, got any green gas?"
-
That's very interesting as I always understood that Krakman in Poland (aka Taiwan Gun) were the European distributor for Double Eagle, and also interesting is no explicit mention of Double Eagle or QAP branding 🤔

I'm loving the detail, like a teenager with a USA flag on his rig but he has an AK, such patriotism 😆

Heavier BBs, 0.36 to 0.40, Most Cost Effective To Buy In 2022?
Fatboy40 replied to Fatboy40's topic in General Help
A bag of Geoff's Precision 0.40 of eBay it is, let's see how things are on Sunday... (a tiny part of me hopes that there's not much difference, to save my wallet, but I've a feeling they'll travel a lot further and I'll love them) -
I've been running my recently built DMR on 0.30g BB's, I've only had tiny goes with anything heavier, and I know I need to really start using heavier BBs to get the best from it and the parts I've used. My primary site, where I get a members discount, only stocks BBs up to 0.32g so I'll need to buy online, however I've yet to find a retailer / brand that is cost effective and tickles my fancy (I can't afford to spend high end money, I'm very "mid-range" in my tastes, but know that heavier weight = increased cost). I'm posting to see if anyone here can recommend a good UK site to buy some from? (the usual places don't seem to have what I'm after). I'm used to buying around 3,000 BBs at a time, which is what I'd still like to do, and pay a fair amount on postage, however I'm undecided between 0.36 and 0.40 weights. At the moment on 0.30 my DMR shoots with a speed so that I can be both reactive to peeking players and try and get those at longer ranges, but it's the longer ranged targets (I'm a realist and not expecting to hit accurately beyond 60 meters or so) and more consistent hoping that I'm after but without totally compromising hitting people quickly at say 20 to 40 meters (not asking for much am I). Thanks.

Are we talking longer than 400mm? Will you be using heavy BBs as well? The reason I ask is that I recently went longer as well, and went with a Maple Leaf AEG barrel + their MR hop and Omega nub, and the two work together so well (the MR patch fits perfectly in their barrel) and seem to be able to put the right amount of spin on really heavy BBs.

I've a bit of time on my hands at the moment, and is this is an "upgrade thread", I'll post here about the GATE Titan v2 rear wired and MAXX Advanced Trigger I've just fitted to my son's Firehawk. It's a solid rifle, a good "starter" + its stumpiness can at times be very useful in close quarters + its has so much potential with as stock a full cylinder and a strong spring, however it's really let down by the mechanical trigger which is glacially slow to get off the first shot and if not pulled completely can prevent a full gearbox cycle on semi and cause a jam. I thought I may have to get the Dremel out but the Titan went into the gearbox perfectly with no issues at all, and start to finish took a little longer I expected as I carefully checked all three sensor types multiple times in the GCS app on my Android smartphone before fully re-assembling it (so maybe around two hours). Personally I love controllers, like in the Double Eagle M90X's my son and I have, as you can just get rid of things like cut off levers etc. and have a much simple mechanical setup (of course trusting that the controller does as intended and doesn't go pop). So, it now has what feels in comparison an instant first shot (I'm wary to use pre-cocking as the stock spring feels like it may be close to an M120, I don't want things to break), can run our 11.1v LiPo's (it was before only ever used on 7.4v LiPo's), and the geek in me loves the telemetry in the GCS app. The auto is also substantially better, but the RPS is not that great, so I think a higher torque or brushless motor would make it go like the clappers. Finally, relevant to the OP, the FPS has gone up by around 10 from before installing the Titan. Does using an 11.1v have a positive impact, or is it that I removed the thick and over applied original G&G grease everywhere and frugally used Super Lube, or a combination of both? (I'm also going to pinch it for a few rounds when we next play, see what it's like in action)

A very lucky G&G Firehawk is getting... https://i.imgur.com/3PCAa5g.jpg ... so goodbye smelly mechanical trigger and jams on semi (also hoping that not to much Dremel action is required). -
...says Groot just as he pops his head out of cover, gets hit by a sniper, and Kicking Mustang get a few more thousand views 😉

About two months ago my nephew popped up from cover about six or so feet in-front of a team mate who was a sniper, all he had on his head was the hood of his jacket, just as the sniper was firing (a full on VSR-10 with close to 500 FSP, don't know the BB weight). He was hit right on the back of his head and he dropped to the floor like a ton of bricks. He was in agony, but very brave, with a huge bump on his head and off home once his mum picked him up an hour or so later. First thing next day his mum bought him and his brother FAST helmets with no holes / vents in them. I love playing airsoft, but don't enjoy the pain, so a helmet for me is essential (also I need something to mount my ExFog on).

I'm more than happy with my Aim-O 3x flip to side Eotech G33 clone, and like others have said more magnification than this is a bit pointless when if we're being truly honest our DMR's are "accurate" to 60 meters or so at best 😉

I need to buy a few random bits and pieces to finish off an AR15 / M4 upper, and I usual buy bits and bobs from AK2M4 as they have everything, however they're out of stock of everything I need right now. Can anyone else recommend a UK website similar to them that sells all the obscure bits and bobs? (ejection covers, random springs etc.)

A PTS EPS stock is the perfect solution, you can fit anything then, you could run a Titan 6000mAh 11.1v Crane battery if you wanted to. Back onto the topic though it does cosmetically look like a very nice rifle, but it's begging to be front wired so the stock could be a little better 👍

Taiwangun Shipping Disruption (Brexit Related Content)
Fatboy40 replied to Speedbird_666's topic in General Discussion
Loads of PB's items already come from Taiwan Gun (aka "Krakman") as they're the European distributor for many brands, which is somewhat frustrating as PB have bugger all Double Eagle rifles in stock but Taiwan Gun have the whole range available 😭 -
I got mine from BBGUNS4LESS, yes they sell springer's, but they're a sound business (and Patrol Base are either not getting new stock of Double Eagle rifles from the European distributor, Krakman / Taiwan Gun, or their shipment is amazingly slow).
-
I'll have to work it out, however with my Double Eagle M908A DMR I've probably gone way over £400, things like magnified optics add possibly unexpected high costs (and a few sites expect your DMR to be running them as well). I went for a rifle with a "controller" to get cycle detection so that I don't get jams on semi, the sort that you clear by flipping to auto.

When life gives you lemons... converting my AR15 A3 to a DMR
Fatboy40 replied to RostokMcSpoons's topic in Electric Guns
Which I what I did, along with some Loctite 270 which you can only weaken with heat, and all the sites I've been to so far have been happy with this (I really didn't want to hack the selector plate about etc.). This was the No.1 reason why I waited until I had the cash and used a Double Eagle M908A as the base for a DMR, cycle control with the Falcon Controller so no worries about potentials jams on semi. Only other thing I'd add is factor in potentially replacing your cylinder, trying a few different ones, as my DMR wasn't up to scratch until I went with a 4/5 (and probably a full / closed one would have been better). -
Double Eagle M904g – Aka the Original Q Honey Badger
Fatboy40 replied to mightyjebus's topic in AEG/GBBR Reviews
It's more like the Titan V2, two separate PCB's that connect to each other, bottom one with sensors for the selector and sector gear and the top multiple sensors for the trigger and its sensitivity 👍 -

Luckily I've not yet had the need to take the selector plate off of any of the M900's I have / have access to, so I've not seen the sticker to confirm its patterning, but let's hope that they 100% mimicked GATE with their "Falcon" as you may be able to use this... https://www.thecageairsoft.co.uk/gate-titan-v2-installation-kit/ -

Now if you wouldn't mind disassembling it old chap so that we can confirm that the internals are 100% the same as the M900 range 😉 -
Another good option for you is the FMA Ballistic Helmet in the size L-XL... https://www.iwholesales.co.uk/610826-fma-ballistic-helmet-multicam-l-l-tb460-l ... but like the Airframe they're a little rare / hard to find (I got mine from France, Powair6, and I've a big melon of a head). Also if you do go for an FMA Ballistic be aware that there are two models, one that's just the helmet and another than has the full "upgraded" liner with the adjustment at the rear which you 100% want to have... https://www.socomtactical.net/fma-fast-helmet-upgraded-liner-kit-l-xl/
