    Lazy Dad Airsoft

I bought an "FMA Fast Helmet Upgraded Liner Kit L/XL - Black" from Socom a couple of months ago, they sent me the tan instead, so even a standard order is enough of a Mystery Box for me thank you. (I just needed it asap, so I ran with the tan anyhow, but sent them a courtesy e-mail to let them know so they can adjust their stock / warehouse system but they didn't bother to reply to me. I will not use them again.)
  2. Well, not really "bought" but my wife gave me one of these yesterday in Flectarn (along with a Viper hoody)... https://www.helikon-tex.com/en_eur/bl-pat-hf-patriot-jacket-double-fleece.html ... for my birthday and I'm a very happy husband 😄 However, does anyone have any idea what the huge double sided pocket is for on the lower back of it? (all I can think of is it may be for a heat-pad of some sort?).
  3. @Randymanpipe is that "Alpha" site still just a "Filmsim" only site? I've considered going to the "Bravo" site next door to it but it just looks so open with very little cover / undergrowth.
  4. For me the weak spot I've found on these is the mechanical trigger, not that it's prone to failing or anything, just that it's clunky and unless you always pull it 100% back you can cause the gun to jam on semi (you clear the jam by flipping to auto and pulling the trigger again, I think due to the "anti reversal latch" engaging due to a full cycle of the gearbox not having been completed). Also be conscious of what batteries you use, to high a voltage and you can fry the mechanical trigger.
  5. Dressing up in full BTP camo when playing in a well lit CQB game, WTF? Also this patch is allowed yeah, that I wear on my scrote pouch, yeah? https://www.powair6.com/en/patchs/14331-blueface-velcro-patch.html
  6. Cheaper than buying a whole rifle just to throw most of it away... https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/external-parts/metal-body
  7. @GoopGoop I understand what you mean, however the DE M904R from Taiwan Gun if bought directly would be... £98 for the rifle. Approx £15 for the shipping. Approx £20 for the VAT. Handling charges from UPS of say maybe £30. ... so we'd be talking approx. £163 in total vs £170. Now, if Patrol Base themselves don't slap on any outlandish charges of their own the difference is not that great, plus you get the comfort of knowing that the Home Office Border Force hopefully won't sit on the delivery for ever and UPS won't leave it in a warehouse for months. I suppose until we hear from someone who's used the Patrol Base service we don't know for certain the outcome (and if by mid-October 2021 Patrol Base themselves don't get a re-stock of DE rifles I'll be asking them their exact costs for at least 2x DE M904E's).
  8. Playing with airsoft I'm getting closer to the point where I'll be disassembling v2 gearboxes, replacing internal parts, and probably installing a GATE Aster or Titan. There are a few different guns I'll be considering working on, for various reasons, and a some of these out of the box have ambidextrous fire selectors. What I initially assumed would be complex now looks simple, just two small gears on each side sat in recesses and a notched bar running through the gearbox to the rear of the trigger connecting each set. I'm still wondering though, are there any reasons why I should be fearful of an ambidextrous gearbox?
  9. @Monkman Is there a reason why you didn't buy it direct from Warhead Industries? (I ask as I'll probably be buying a standard speed one for a DMR I intend to build over Christmas).
  10. Now this is interesting... https://old.reddit.com/r/airsoft/comments/pou00b/taiwan_gun_ordering_to_uk/ ... Patrol Base acting as an import agent for Taiwan Gun Edit: https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/taiwangun-x-patrol-base-uk-next-day-delivery
  11. Sounds like you need to bump into my 12 year old boy then, he gives as good as he gets and doesn't quit (the only time he quit was a couple of months ago when it was a Sunday with temps around 30 degrees in the shade! (we both quit at midday, starting getting bad headaches)). His best kill streak is 12 at the moment, plus he's started to go on the opposite team to me now so that he can try and take me out 😢
  12. @mightyjebus Not a gun I'm particularly interested in, however a Honk Kong reseller that ships that quickly with no problems is very interesting (as Double Eagle has no stock of anything anymore in the UK). Was this sent to the UK or elsewhere?
  13. I'm very intrigued (genuinely) as to what you believe you'll gain from an ICS or Krytac over the M904E?
  14. "Tactical Dads" sign in 😄 I started airsoft with my 12 year old son December 2020, we both play, and we love it (and years ago I used to race RC cars as well, I wish I still had at least my Schumacher Cat). Do you play with him as well?
  15. Well, after bit more testing in daylight the FPS was only lower due to a huge amount of hop, BB's after maybe 10 or so meters just flew up like a rocket, so no 200mm inner barrel Next stop an "ICS 6.04mm Inner Diameter 160mm Length" inner barrel, fitted this evening. So with only a light amount of hop applied, it doesn't need much going from the stock G&G geared hop unit and bucking to the ZCI plastic rotary hop unit with Macaron bucking and Omega nub, it's getting a consistent 346 FPS on 0.20g's and my son is very happy (up 26 FPS from stock). He's probably getting a better rifle for Christmas, if the UK gets any stock of what I want to get for him from China, and if he does the devil in me wants to try something like a ZCI 340mm inner barrel just to see what the full cylinder can do with it 😈
  16. Get another Imax B6AC, and then the mini hooked up to a motorbike battery if you need to charge at a site 👍 (I've both, and someone at two sites I go to has a big Stanley Fatmax toolbox which he keeps his motorbike battery and charger in and has also an inverter in it with a standard three pin power outlet - Edit: To clarify it's all mounted in the toolbox, it's really well done, and the three pin outlet is on the outside)
  17. My first purchase from Warhead Industries in the UK, hopefully my next will be a brushless motor for a DMR build... https://imgur.com/Q9pEeBO ... and it's identical in size etc. to same spec Nurpol batteries I've bought but £5 less (and they do a few others, so maybe a good alternative to HobbyKing when they have nothing in their UK warehouse?).
  18. (I wanted to try and add my reply to an existing thread, contribute to it rather than starting a new one, as I've just made a small upgrade to my sons G&G Firehawk (standard model)) As I needed to get a new spring for my AEG from ak2m4 I thought I'd get a few parts to tweak my sons stock G&G Firehawk. He loves it as it's his first AEG, but it's noisy (I've already replaced the amplifying flash hider) and after playing with my DE M904E he really wants some more FPS to try and compete a bit better (he's getting very good, on his best day recently he had a 12 kill streak playing CQB). So, I bought for him a ZCI rotary plastic hop up unit (the stock is a geared one), ML Macaron 60 degree, ML Omega nub and a 200m ZCI 6.02 inner barrel (the stock is 120mm and I think 6.05?). My first shock when taking the Firehawk apart was that it has a full cylinder, I wasn't expecting that. All the above parts fitted with no issues at all so on to a chrono, and with no hop at all it was getting 376 FPS on 0.20g It was getting dark in the garden so I applied some hop, maybe a third of a full turn, and I've no idea if the BB's were skying or not, but it brought things down to a better 346 FPS. I'll have to try it again outside at the weekend, somewhere a lot more open to see the path of the BB's, but with the stock spring (relevant to the original post) and cylinder and extra 80mm of inner barrel add a heck of a lot more FPS
  19. My son and I have an AAP-01 each, his is newer so has the gen 2 hammer. The hop unit in it is bloody good for the money, there's no need to replace it itself, however swapping over to a Maple Leaf Autobot Silicon 60 Degree made a huge difference to accuracy, consistency and slightly better hop of 0.25's at distance (which you've done). My gen 1 hammer did fail after around four thousand or so BB's, I was using it as a primary with a drum mag, all on semi though (no auto). It's go the Action Army CNC hammer in it now, I had no interest in fitting other hammer parts that were not OEM and required modification. Regarding "barrel droop" though I've seen none of this, even though at face value it looks like the inner barrel is held quite lightly it's rock solid. Everyone I'd seen complaining about barrels though online have put in ones that are way longer than stock, 200mm and above, and then put all sorts of grips on the outer barrel so no wonder it's having problems with all that weight (which is why AA made their CNC's MLOK outer barrel). For the mag that should be efficient enough to provide at least 2 full mags if not a little more. Maybe your output valve is a bit "sticky" and releasing too much gas, so I'd take it out a drop on a little silicon oil to see if this improves its action.
  20. My wife has banned me from wearing my "Tactical Dad" patch when skirmishing with him 😔
  21. My Guarder SP100 spring, and a few bits to tweak my sons G&G Firehawk, arrived today so I cracked on and replaced the spring in my Double Eagle M904E (so easy to do with a quick change spring / V2 gearbox). The stock spring when removed was 160mm in length and had no tighter coils at either end, and as stated earlier the Guarder SP100 was 170mm, and the SP100 was fitted with the tighter coils on the spring guide. On 0.20g I went up to approx. 342 FPS and 1.09J, and on 0.25g it was approx. 306 FPS and 1.09J. So, at the moment, I'm a happy bunny but a bit miffed that at my game on Sunday I was shooting 0.25g's at around 16 FPS lower than I could have been and was when I first got the AEG. I'll report back towards the end of December for @ak2m4 and list the FPS (but will only take the spring out if the FPS has noticeably dropped).
  22. @Brophy I'll always be wearing a helmet now that I'm 100% committed to using an ExFog as it works perfectly for me, so I think I'm going to give it a go, and have a few video memories for when I'm old and dribbly.
  23. I enjoy airsoft, I like playing it with my son, I'm an "average" player who has lucky days now and again, I like seeing photo's that the site may have uploaded of the day as they bring back good memories. However, I'd quite like to see back what I personally saw on the day, was the epic shot I thought I made actually terrible and the "movement" in the bush was just a pigeon, see where the sneaky person who shot me in the head was hiding etc. So, as I'm no Carlos the Jackal, would people think I'm a bit of a nobber if I put the smallest camera I could on my helmet to record video for my own personal use? I'm old enough to rarely give a shit about what people think about me anymore, however I don't want to embarrass my son or have others at a site point and laugh 😢
  24. Personally, until you've played a few times with the gun to get a feel for it, I'd be looking at things to improve your accuracy and overall enjoyment of playing etc. For example... # Do you have a red dot sight of any sort for quick and easy targeting? # Do you have a sling so that you're not carrying it around the whole time tiring out your arms? # What weight of BB are you using? ... all which are things that can potentially make you more effective and don't involve any internal modification of your gun. Also with such a long gun I'm assuming you play outdoors so maybe consider other "non gun" additions that improve things for you, for example one of my best purchases were decent Alta Industries knee pads that allow me to drop to my knees quickly and stay like that for however long I want (I'm becoming very useful now at my home site spending ages low down behind hardcover).
  25. I've a nose like Rudolph, got hit between my goggles and Delta Mike (lots of blood, very little pain), smashed glass in my red dot, but the best Sunday game I've ever had
