  1. I've two DE's and look after a third (my sons), all three have been fully disassembled multiple times to the level of the gearbox having been in pieces (M904E, M906C and an M908A). Really it's not a MOSFET or an ETU, it's a "controller" like a GATE Titan or Perun Hybrid with optical sensors, however it's a much cheaper "knock off" so you've no pre-cocking and active-braking etc. (also the "battery protection" isn't as sophisticated as say the GATE Titan). Having said all that though, for what can be a £160 rifle depending upon the model, they're bloody amazing (trigger response and rate of fire). Regarding which material is "stronger" it's finely balanced, but for the best long term strength I'd have to say the polymer. The metal bodies on the M900's are not all that thick, and I'm as certain as I can be that they're of a cheap alloy to keep costs low (it was so easy using just a manual hand drill to modify my M908A to create a hole in the lower receiver to fit a nut and bolt to lock it to semi-only for a DMR), but the polymer is very rigid and can take a good hard knock.
  2. My 13 year old son wears a Delta Mike, fits him perfectly (and over say the past year it's me that's been shot twice in the nose, he's been fine).
  3. Wasn't it the case that these are just "limited editions" and G&G still make all the profit on them? (nothing at all is being donated to Ukraine or the Red Cross etc., bit of a scummy thing to do).
  4. A third almost identical reply, it's air volume. I look after my son's Firehawk, now all GATE Titan'd and MAXX triggered up using 11.1v Li-Io's and which will get its first good hammering at a game this coming weekend, and it's the full cylinder (really, it has one) that's the magic. I run a 4/5 in my DMR but the loopy Firehawk has a bloody full one ? It's gone from the stock 120mm inner barrel to an ICS 160mm / 6.04, also had the amplifier swapped over to a short and fat dummy suppressor, and it's still deafening (the amplifier on it really does bugger all sound wise). Now though my boy can spam the very short pull trigger and anyone next to him will have their ears bleed. Next stop a Warhead motor for full rude boy effect.
  5. I needed a couple of new batteries, the Titan Li-Io 3,000 mAh are my current faves but out of stock everywhere in the UK at a fair price, then I randomly came across these... https://imgur.com/gpMC2Vw.jpg ... at such a good price! Fingers crossed they behave identically.
  6. @SilverCloud If it has to be tan in colour then personally I'd take this over the Ares you've listed... https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/double-eagle-m916g-utr556?pv=17878 ... flip the options to Tan, get rid of the two tone, and it's only £170 ? As others have said as well don't get hung up on it being metal, which over time will get scratched, and at the end of a day at Ground Zero (which can be continuous if you don't have a lunch) your arms will glad for the substantially lighter weight you're carrying (even with a sling).
  7. They do, thank you, however that black plate / mock bolt on the right side of the gearbox is hiding the other side of the cylinder so we can't see what sort of hole it has ?
  8. You could well be onto something there. Patrol Base states that this rifle has a 463mm inner barrel, and that's a bloody long inner barrel if the cylinder is just a bog standard 3/4. @Hamster82 If you've not personally replaced the cylinder yourself, so already know why type it is, maybe pop off the top of the receiver and take a photo for us to see of the side of the gearbox that shows the hole / cut-out on the side of the cylinder.
  9. Yes, it will be an improvement (if we're talking an AEG, 350 limit shooting 0.25), however any change may be small (accuracy is all incremental, better inner barrel + appropriate bucking and nub + good hop unit applying consistent pressure + minimal vibration of the guns internals + appropriate BB for the situation + the human beings skill, so that hopefully each and every shot taken is identical).
  10. That seems maybe a bit hard for only 0.25's? All the guns I have, and look after for others, have only 60 degree Macaron's for hopping 0.25 and 0.28, and in my DMR I use a 70 degree MR.
  11. It does look pretty, however I'll take a DE M900 over it due to their structural simplicity and identical internals.
  12. I played the morning today with 0.40g BBs, and had to up the hop somewhat for them, and I'm wishing now that I didn't use them all up as I'm wondering if like you my power dropped. I'm going to have to burn through some more money and buy some more to test this properly at home before I touch the hop on my DMR and never know. They did perform much better than 0.30g BBs though, they flew a lot truer and noticeably further allowing me to reach out to trade shots with a few other DMR users.
  13. I just use Guard Dogs Evader 2 goggles, with my ExFog, and wear my glasses under them as usual ?
  14. Best of all though flippin' Gary Numan and "My Name is Ruin" !!!
  15. I couldn't wait until Friday so had to download it, it's so good (great episode and they've got USA airsoft spot on, Cartman watching Swamp Sniper ? ). "Bruh, got any green gas?"
  16. That's very interesting as I always understood that Krakman in Poland (aka Taiwan Gun) were the European distributor for Double Eagle, and also interesting is no explicit mention of Double Eagle or QAP branding ?
  17. I'm loving the detail, like a teenager with a USA flag on his rig but he has an AK, such patriotism ?
  18. A bag of Geoff's Precision 0.40 of eBay it is, let's see how things are on Sunday... (a tiny part of me hopes that there's not much difference, to save my wallet, but I've a feeling they'll travel a lot further and I'll love them)
  19. I've been running my recently built DMR on 0.30g BB's, I've only had tiny goes with anything heavier, and I know I need to really start using heavier BBs to get the best from it and the parts I've used. My primary site, where I get a members discount, only stocks BBs up to 0.32g so I'll need to buy online, however I've yet to find a retailer / brand that is cost effective and tickles my fancy (I can't afford to spend high end money, I'm very "mid-range" in my tastes, but know that heavier weight = increased cost). I'm posting to see if anyone here can recommend a good UK site to buy some from? (the usual places don't seem to have what I'm after). I'm used to buying around 3,000 BBs at a time, which is what I'd still like to do, and pay a fair amount on postage, however I'm undecided between 0.36 and 0.40 weights. At the moment on 0.30 my DMR shoots with a speed so that I can be both reactive to peeking players and try and get those at longer ranges, but it's the longer ranged targets (I'm a realist and not expecting to hit accurately beyond 60 meters or so) and more consistent hoping that I'm after but without totally compromising hitting people quickly at say 20 to 40 meters (not asking for much am I). Thanks.
  20. Are we talking longer than 400mm? Will you be using heavy BBs as well? The reason I ask is that I recently went longer as well, and went with a Maple Leaf AEG barrel + their MR hop and Omega nub, and the two work together so well (the MR patch fits perfectly in their barrel) and seem to be able to put the right amount of spin on really heavy BBs.
  21. I've a bit of time on my hands at the moment, and is this is an "upgrade thread", I'll post here about the GATE Titan v2 rear wired and MAXX Advanced Trigger I've just fitted to my son's Firehawk. It's a solid rifle, a good "starter" + its stumpiness can at times be very useful in close quarters + its has so much potential with as stock a full cylinder and a strong spring, however it's really let down by the mechanical trigger which is glacially slow to get off the first shot and if not pulled completely can prevent a full gearbox cycle on semi and cause a jam. I thought I may have to get the Dremel out but the Titan went into the gearbox perfectly with no issues at all, and start to finish took a little longer I expected as I carefully checked all three sensor types multiple times in the GCS app on my Android smartphone before fully re-assembling it (so maybe around two hours). Personally I love controllers, like in the Double Eagle M90X's my son and I have, as you can just get rid of things like cut off levers etc. and have a much simple mechanical setup (of course trusting that the controller does as intended and doesn't go pop). So, it now has what feels in comparison an instant first shot (I'm wary to use pre-cocking as the stock spring feels like it may be close to an M120, I don't want things to break), can run our 11.1v LiPo's (it was before only ever used on 7.4v LiPo's), and the geek in me loves the telemetry in the GCS app. The auto is also substantially better, but the RPS is not that great, so I think a higher torque or brushless motor would make it go like the clappers. Finally, relevant to the OP, the FPS has gone up by around 10 from before installing the Titan. Does using an 11.1v have a positive impact, or is it that I removed the thick and over applied original G&G grease everywhere and frugally used Super Lube, or a combination of both? (I'm also going to pinch it for a few rounds when we next play, see what it's like in action)
  22. A very lucky G&G Firehawk is getting... https://i.imgur.com/3PCAa5g.jpg ... so goodbye smelly mechanical trigger and jams on semi (also hoping that not to much Dremel action is required).
  23. ...says Groot just as he pops his head out of cover, gets hit by a sniper, and Kicking Mustang get a few more thousand views ?
  24. About two months ago my nephew popped up from cover about six or so feet in-front of a team mate who was a sniper, all he had on his head was the hood of his jacket, just as the sniper was firing (a full on VSR-10 with close to 500 FSP, don't know the BB weight). He was hit right on the back of his head and he dropped to the floor like a ton of bricks. He was in agony, but very brave, with a huge bump on his head and off home once his mum picked him up an hour or so later. First thing next day his mum bought him and his brother FAST helmets with no holes / vents in them. I love playing airsoft, but don't enjoy the pain, so a helmet for me is essential (also I need something to mount my ExFog on).
