  1. Contemplating doing a step by step once all my ghillie garnish has arrived and I start the bulk of the crafting, not entirely sure where to put it. Tutorials would imply I know what I’m doing... I don’t. Guns, Gear & Loadouts? Thoughts?

      Ye GG&L is suitable.

Also Tutorials is fine if you describe what you're doing (especially WHY you do X instead of Y)

  2. It’s anecdotal evidence at best at the end of the day. Given the bulk of his products are ‘sniper’ focused I wouldn’t be shocked if folks take the gnu out for a morning session, don’t enjoy the play style, carefully place (read as ‘lob’) it back in the case at lunchtime and pop it up as ‘unskirmished’ the moment they get home. “Selling because sniping isn’t for me” is probably the number one reason for sale I see in the springer section. Given the marketing behind the SSG range it tracks that they’re often purchased by folks that haven’t used a bolt action gnu before, and thus the cycle is complete. I also think there is an element of folks feeling they have to justify their reason of sale and often the actual reason could put off potential buyers. Example: ”Selling because it’s a safe queen and deserves to be used.” Sounds much better than. “Selling because I’ve put a heap of money into this and it still isn’t performing as well as my other RIFs so I just want to make some of my money back”. (Yes, this is also all anecdotal)
  3. Is the sum of the mentioned ‘upgrades’ a fluted cylinder and an enlarged bolt handle? Or did we just not bother listing the others? Let me guess... General advice to avoid the no doubt incoming twisting of knickers. If you’re selling something with aftermarket parts in it, tell folks what they are. Selling a second hand RIF (irrelevant of its use, unless you’re a retailer it’s second hand) for £500+ is a tall order. Ultimately you don’t have to justify your price to anyone... but a detailed listing of what exactly potentially interested parties are actually getting will aid any chance of a successful sale you have.
  4. I’m aware it’s colloquially convenient, but ohh boy do I get unreasonably irked by the words ‘fully upgraded’.

      Ahh the art of ‘gatfishing’.

While we’re having a grumble I have recently found a very niche peeve in the fact that ‘stock’ is the word of choice for something featuring no aftermarket parts. Asking if anyone has a spare stock stock for my VSR makes me feel stupid each and every time.

  5. Joined the SRS club, immediately pulled it apart to paint it (along with a suppressor cover). Scope mount also showed up today, looking forward to the scope arriving along with some parts for the SRS.
  6. More out of curiosity than anything else, is that gap due to the angle the crack on the lower? Causing the whole tail end of the lower to be that far out of whack? Or is it purely a case the the receiver have a really bad fitting? Cheers, Alex
  7. Another entertaining evening in leaf country. Really happy with the browns from the prior batch, definitely felt like the greens were lacking. Intrigued to see if I actually end up using many of these alongside haloscreen.

  8. Plodding along with the leaf crafting tonight, if nothing else it’s nice to find a cheap and relaxing way of engaging with the hobby. If you’re thinking about giving it a go, you absolutely should.

  9. Continuing the journey to full on leafy boy with my first proper attempt at artificial leaves. Pretty happy so far, looking forward to finishing them.

  12. @Adolf Hamster's speedloader antics reminded me of a mod I'd been planning to do on mine to stop the push lock clicking open while in a pouch. Seems to be working so far! (Ignore the ropey engraving, function over fashion in this case).

When I can be bothered to find something a bit ‘nicer’ I’ll probably replace the paper clips but it’s functional for now. Only advice is to be careful with your pin vise as you go through the middle of the nub thing, mine were hollowed out so it went much quicker than expected!

  13. Spent a few spare moments today doing some crafting on the Mk23, pretty happy so far. Just waiting on some raffia to finish it up!

  14. Agreed. Granted, irrelevant of how it all started I can't help but feel like calming the situation, even if that meant bending the knee when he didn't feel he was in the wrong, is generally a better way to go as a business owner rather than doubling down and it becoming the memefest it has turned into. Just seems like such a perculiar route to take.
  15. I too couldn't resist taking a look, some absolute gold on there. My personal top pick:
  16. Though not a surefire (😏) way of checking my usual go to at first is the standard end cap/switch. Real ones are marked with ‘www.surefire.com’, and the inside of the cap is black with a silver coloured (no idea of the material) contact. Unless Surefire have changed their marking and materials, combined with the previous offence I’d probably go ahead and assume the light isn’t genuine either. Photos of my end cap are below. Unless I got sailed down the river a while back it’s genuine. Edit: Mine also has what I’m guessing is a serial number beneath the main branding on the body of the light. Though I’m not an expert so this could be a version marking rather than a serial number. Either way, it isn’t present on the images in the eBay sale. The one pictured on the listing looks... familiar. Cheers, Alex
  17. Weird evening spent stripping my Polarstar Mk18 down ready to sell for parts. When I finished this build I was fairly confident I wouldn't feel the need for anything else... then my MWS came along.

  18. Well, well, well. I've finally joined the club. Have an optic and optic mount en route alongside a pressure switch for the light and a new grip. Probably going to keep it fairly simple and slick, would be a shame to cover too much of it up! Cheers, Alex
  19. You know when you realise you have too much stuff, and common sense says you should sell some of it. Man, common sense is the worse sometimes.

That's why I'm focusing my collection on pistols, so at least they're not excess crap that's in the way!

Mine is always more the 'gear' side of things than it is RIFs. I don't have a vast collection of RIFs, and for the most part if I get something new it's to replace something which I will then sell on. 7 pairs of perfectly functioning coyote/tan gloves says I don't do this when it comes to gear 😂.
