Hello all - just became the proud owner of an MTR16 - all stock aside from the Laylax strike hop arm, which was easily hopping .4s when I skirmished it yesterday.

I would like to swap out the rail to a shorter one - I bought the gun used and the previous owner had taken the rail off before, so the hard bit is done (heat gun to the melt the glue on the gas block etc). I took it apart to install the new hop arm and it was a breeze.

So on to my question - can anyone recommend a cheap-ish 12-14" (MLOK or MK18 style preferred) handguard and outer barrel that will fit without any machining? Budget would be £200ish for it all if possible. I have read that I will also need a delta ring?

I have seen a few outer barrels on Fire Support, but would like to confirm what exactly will fit before buying it

The Madbull MK18 rails work fine. All you need will be a few shims and you're good to good.. No wobble, no machining!

    How dare you!!!!

Now that being said, interesting idea.

The Bolt/Nozzle must be sent back to disengage from the mag/gas flow.

You could replace the buffer-spring by a weak one, strong enough so that it slows the bolt enough to not damage the bolt or buffer tube, but weak enough not send the bolt (fully) forward. So that you need to manually cycle the bolt to fully engage it.

It should work, but the risk of damaging bolt/buffer tube seems too high to me. I suppose TM installed a spring which is just about right, so probably not enough margin to install a weaker spring without damaging your system.

And the bolt catch on an empty mag, might also stop working, but not sure on this one.

Or somehow change the bolt catch that it engages every time, not just on an empty mag. Wouldn't know how though.

    Don’t encourage him lol 😂

Alright guys, now bear with me. I promise I have a good reason for asking this.

Lets say I really enjoy the consistency of the MWS. Lets say I normally use a bolt gun at the skirmish for sniping. I really like the ergonomics of my MWS setup, and was curious if there was a way to install a different valve, or modify the rocket valve to allow for single shot mode.

Yes, one shot at a time, pulling the charging handle back to cycle a new round each time. It's heresy I know,  but could it be done? I feel like it could be done relatively easily, but I am not sure of how one would do that.

When you are done laughing/scratching your head at what I just asked, let me know your thoughts ;)

**I understand that this would eliminate the recoil function of the MWS- that is fine for what I would be using it for so long as I could revert it back to its normal function**

I've had as laugh... I've scratched my head... I even scratched an itch that I shouldn't have touched.... I see what you're saying but I believe the design doesn't warrant that behaviour.. I mean yes you cock it back so-to-speak when you chamber the first round and then let it do it's magic..... Interesting thought though.....

It turned out to be the Knocker lock in the end. It's been sat in the letter rack by the front door and will probably sit there for some time longer because a) I don't use the AAP SMG hardly ever b) Divorce c) Acetech have announced a new shotgun tracer so might sell the AAP or atleast parts of it to fund that!

Mines be sat in it's box too and hasn't seen active service since I got it... The same with Armourer Works Drum mag. I'll probably get my finger out at some point and take it out on s skirmish. The thing is I seem to use my HK45 and MK23 mostly...

Of course you are all aware it's Half-Term at the moment, & it's literally Airsoft "law" that during this time we have an influx of ridiculous & illiterate posts & threads, including sales 😏

Is that the same as holiday prices going up during half term and school holidays? Makes sense now.... silly me how could I have forgotten that... duh

I'm going to be contrarian and say that this is a total Chad advert. Chadvert?

It's completely honest, no flim-flam, raw thirst trap for NGRS simps.  Respect.

Finally managed to grab some used mags locally around here in Canada! Sadly got one that leaks. I see you many have mentioned the use of Gunsav lube, and managed to source some here! It's so thick so I safely assume this is best used for a full tear down of the mag and applying it all over the seals and o-rings?

Erm I wouldn't apply that to the Mag seals / O rings buddy... Either get new O rings and seals or some Abbey maintenance gas in the first instance.... Or even some silicon oil... The pink stuff is best to use on the piston.

I've had ranging from the 500 mark up to perhaps 3000ish, having gone through probably 4 of them. Too wide a range without enough of a sample size to present anything other than anecdotal evidence, but at £13-15 a pop I just never felt like I was getting great value out of what is ultimately a consumable part.

I ditched my Modify Tan after a couple of hundred shots.... I found the lip started to disintegrate so went back to the Marui bucking. Have to be honest I can't fault the Marui bucking... It does what it says on the Tin and I've done about 1000 shot's through it with no issues..

TechT gunsav for air seals - out of stock everywhere, let me know if you find some!

And Parker Hale gun oil for metal on metal / trigger pack / charging handle / buffer spring.

If you have HSB you’ll have Moly grease on your buffer spring.

Cheers Dave.. that’s the one I was looking for. I’ve got the last two but not just the pink stuff. I’ll ask my local hunting shop if they have any? If so I’ll let ya all know next week.

  9. That reminds me..... I need to apply some seasonal maintenance to the MWS! I've not picked it up for nearly 4 months!! May need to get some fresh lube too. What are folks using again?

Hey, do your rifles have movement between reveivers in parallel line? Mine was stiff at the beginning but now upper r. moves a bit against lower from left to right at the end (where back td pin is). Idk what caused that. Is it normal wear after time? (i'm talking about movement from left to right, not axial which i heard is normal after time)

It’s normal. They all do it.. Font to back. And side to side. Don’t stress.

  11. You will find that there have been a lot of discussions about gas routers somewhere in this thread with varying degrees of success. Nevertheless your results are interesting and it's always good to see how new gases like Vorsk perform. A few questions from my side and no doubt you'll get a lot more from others too..

    1. What bb weight and brand were you using?

    2. Have you done the green gas mod with your mags?

    3. How many shots did you fire until the mags ran out of gas. I assume the Marui router performed better in this respect.
