  1. I think you misunderstand, I am saying that I did not choose the name of the company running the event, not that I was keeping the name secret 😁
  2. Well I didn’t name the company or the event so 🤷🏽 They seem to have a good rep for themed events and Gloucester Prison is a fun site. Also you aren’t going to be there so it just got better 😂
  3. Excited to be able to make this one as it has been too long since the last event (Op ACRE from Stirling Airsoft....also at Glos Prison) and I love game play with a bit more to it than just 30-40mins of pew-pew and then faffing in the safe zone for almost as long. Still weighing up the primary - M733 AEG (with bodged handguard - Gorilla Glue and Milliput to the rescue!) or the MWS (with heavy, real capacity mags...but RECOIL!) and which chest rig to take. USP with lots of mags is a given for the up close and personal nature of the buildings. Very little comms from the organisers, guess there will be an info dump on the day and I can panic program my UV5R before kick off. Got my gang colour t-shirt and 0.28g BBs sorted and waiver signed.
  4. PSA: Loctite 242 stress fractures TM plastic hand guards and makes then disintegrate :(

You need 425 for plastic. I only found this out a couple weeks ago myself, although not through experience.

It was on a metal bolt, not on the plastic! Just being in close proximity was enough to cause issues.

  5. Good work! 1) I am guessing those results are on Joules? 2) I have workshop envy 🤑
  6. Ultrair is often on sale much less than £9, and if you wanted 48 bottles from a retailer I am sure they would do you a deal Also, based on 20g of gas per MWS M4 mag the 15.4kg would equal 768 mags worth, with each fill easily firing 3x mags worth of BBs (35rd) that means you are buying enough Propane to fire over 80 THOUSAND BBs. Assuming no leakage / spillage / venting mags to service them / Coleman bottle giving up on the seams or valve (not designed to long term use) Say you buy all the gas gear and run a quality BB like Geoffs 0.30g, at about £18 per 3000, that is almost £500 in ammo. How many years worth of ammo / gas do you need?! 🤣 Plus allow for dropping BBs, spilling bags in the safe zone (round of applause), etc... So yes there is a saving, eventually, but also a lot of hassle and faffing, and I am sure you will end up running out on a game day and have to spend £12 on a bottle of <gagging noises> Nuprol green and cutting into your savings. Given that most players end up splitting time between AEG and GBBR, only play a handful to times a year or get bored and sell it / sell up and quit you need to be in it for the long run to see a return. I wonder if using a solar panel to charge your AEG batteries would save as much money too? 🤔
  7. BBs do tend to ricochet quite a bit from tin cans but my new Tactical Pellet Catcher 5000 enables me to test accuracy and stop the BBs littering my (or neighbours!) garden! If you are using metal targets on sticks I would angle them so that any BBs that bounce off are directed into the floor. Stringing up some fine mesh sheet (as they use around scaffolding / building sites) is also an option. If the ARU do turn up, be calm and polite, do what they say and be prepared to chat for ages about your RIFs and let them have a play too
  8. Ares Amoeba mid caps seem to work with 99% of stuff (maybe with some tape on the front / back or side) and ran flawlessly in my G&G, G&P, TM and friends WE, KWA and Specna. Obviously Airsoft "specs", "tolerances" and "QC" not withstanding! TM metal STANAG 68rd ones seem pretty universal too, but older looking design and 1/2 the capacity.
  9. What is the centre-to-centre for the MLok bolts? Approximate is fine 😁
  10. Tweaked my two Baofeng UV5R* by removing the inner nubs from the torch/alarm and FM radio button as I am fed up of hitting them and not the PTT. I can still activate them with a pen or small screwdriver if I ever need to. PTT also got some 120grit paper added to make it easy to locate even with gloves on. Final tweak was a Larry Vickers double mag set up. Watch the Colt 723 video on Forgotten Weapons youtube channel. *yes I have a licence for them, sit down. Also stay off my frequencies 😂
  11. Yes, if you can get Ultrair or similar gas on sale / bundle deal it will be cheaper and better than faffing with propane tanks and adapters.
  12. Thanks, not owned / used a NBB for comparison - I know anecdotally they are more efficient in terms of shots per mag fill. If I get really bored one day I might give it a try both ways and compare.
  13. As to 1) I can’t see it causing an issue as only the trigger parts moving. Keep it lubricated (but not too much) and should be fine for dry fire practice. 2) is tricky as the Coleman propane cylinders are hard to find - Go Outdoors might be worth a try. Unfortunately the price of Propane has gone up and even using a Coleman bottle and refilling that from a 13kg bottle will take hundreds of refils to recoup the cost of the two adaptors. Best bet is to look out for deals on gas and buy a few bottles. ASG Ultrair seems good and is often on sale. My WE G19 and TM USP and MWS run well on it down to 10degC
  14. Been thinking about this for a while and would open it up to the hive mind to see if I am on to something or talking cross-eyed badger spit. There are plenty of videos out there where someone fills a mag with gas, but no BBs, and proceed to fire until the bolt or slide won’t lock back. They then proclaim that “tHiS GnU iZ ThE bEsTs bCuZ tWeLfTy tHoUsAnD sHoTs oN oNe MaG” But here is the rub, there is no BB being fired and thus less gas used. Usually the pressure in the barrel due to the BB blocking it keeps the rocket valve open. Once the BB leaves the barrel and the pressure drops the rocket valve can close against the little spring. This diverts the gas back and cycles the action. So are these tests misguided and a rough guide only?
  15. Pressie to myself, Elliot Brown Holton Professional. Solid build, clicky bezel and comfortable strap.
  16. RostokMcSpoons beat me to it.... Always worth testing a few different weights / brands as they can vary from gun to gun. My Cyma AKS-74U actually liked the Amoeba ones where as the others couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with them 🤣 Drop me a DM if you want a few baggies of brands / weights I have popping in the post.
  17. I have two Vortex T1 sights (forget the model name!) and the Red Dot Eng protectors - both great bits of kit. TBH if the sight is broken you can't really make it any worse, right? 😆
  18. Sounds like loose contacts inside the unit. I guess it should be possible to open it up and re-solder / fix but I have no idea what sort of level of skill that would require! Plus the sights are usually filled with Nitrogen to prevent fogging when moving from cold/hot environments - going to be a pain to refill that with out a BoC account and a 90L bottle of Nitrogen 🤣
  19. Managed to get the TM MWS (Laylax hop arm, TM bucking, CrazyJet 250mm barrel, ASG Ultrair ~270fps) out today and test it with Geoffs Super Precision 0.32g (previous winner) vs Warhead 0.28 and 0.32g Gun clamped and held firm (heavy recoil buffer fitted!) and 10 shots at 10m. All the brands / weight were within 3mm variance in the box diagonal measurement! Safe to say the Warheads were leaders in cost/shot even with the postage included. All managed to hit a 50mm circle consistently and sent multiple shots through the same hole so plenty good enough for hitting elbows or knees poking out of cover 😂
  20. G&P or GunsModify 👍 If you are really stuck the AngryGun v2 nozzle seems a better option than the original pile of poo they released…
  21. Leaving my FRV belt set up for the USP and 4x mags so picked up a Condor LCS belt and have been pleasantly surprised. Laser cut molle fabric is tough feeling and holds the pouches well while not being too much of a PITA to fit stuff to. Inner belt is padded and has grippy rubber type fabric on the inside. Being hook velcro on the inner I can mix and match with the FRV. Buckle is a big fastex and while not rated to stop me falling out a helicopter I think it will be fine for tactical mincing around airsoft. £40 inc 1st class post means it is one of the more affordable options. Medium goes just about small enough for my 33”ish waist with the inner belt fitted. pouches are Esstac Kywi (short IN the DirectAction dump pouch, tall on the back). Condor 40mm pouch for the BFG, 5.11 pistol for speed loader (gas mags can easily shoot 70+ rounds) and a Warrior polymer for additional off-side mag (left handed rifle shooter 🤪) leaves the front and left side clear for my rifle to hang without smacking stuff.
  22. How is the illuminated dot in the 1-4x24? I have heard it is pretty dim compared to regular T1 type red dots?
  23. Turns out the precocking on a Perun AB++ uses active braking and causes issues with the Warhead motor, as does the burst settings which might give 1 or 2 shots…or maybe none. Using the TM motor it worked fine, but the Warhead fought it and refused to play nice. One to watch out for in the future.
  24. TM motor tested and precocking, AB and burst works well. The two round burst with no RoF delay was silly fast and had the BBs flying a couple of feet apart…would make for some interesting bruises! Warhead HS is as fast without precocking and runs cooler / less amps and a little quieter so will be the choice.
  25. Yep, that was the first step in the set up 😁 Bit of Google-Fu and I found this: ”Make sure AB is set to off. Same goes for precocking, perun made their precock feature use ab rather than overspin delay. Brushless doesn't know how to handle it.” Yeah, that would do it! Guess the burst mode has similar AB during the cycle and gives similar conflicts. Tempted to throw the original TM motor in and see if that plays nice. But that is a job for another day.
